'KY Tellython' contains both a reference to Jimmy Savile and an appearance from Rolf Harris. No wonder the nostalgia channels are reluctant to repeat it.
I’ve been with my girlfriend for over a year, and now feels like the ideal time to introduce her to KYTV, the programme responsible for shaping my sense of humour and my inexplicable crush on Angus Deayton. We’re kicking off with two of my favourite episodes, the 1989 ā€˜Comic Asides’ pilot and series one’s ’It’s a Royal Wedding’.

I love it when they partner KYTV’s most pathetic presenter, Martin Brown, with KYTV’s second most pathetic presenter, Mike Channel

I hadn’t noticed before that a number of gags from ā€˜It’s a Royal Wedding’ were borrowed from the pilot, which probably borrowed them from Radio Active. For future reference, the gags in question are ā€˜general, discussion’ and ā€˜I don’t mean ā€œround the backā€ in the old army sense.ā€

Update: six days apparently, that’s how long it takes to receive a response to a master’s application. It’s an unconditional offer of study, too. Thank God, because I just bought a new iPad under the guise of needing it for note-taking.
My dissertation supervisor completed my reference, which meant I could finally submit my master’s application on Tuesday! I’ve been checking my emails every 30 minutes since then to see if I’ve received a response. I haven’t, unsurprisingly, because it’s only been five days. How long does it typically take to receive a response, anyway? Answers on the back of a postcard, or in my ask box if you haven’t got a postcard close to hand.

If you’ve just stumbled upon this corner of the internet, hello! Charlotte is my name, but please call me Charlie. My friends don’t, but they should start. Charlie’s much cooler than Charlotte, don’t you agree?
I’ll be using this blog to share my thoughts on, well, whatever interests me. At the moment, that happens to be Reginald Hill’s ā€˜Dalziel and Pascoe’ novels and the British police drama The Bill. Currently I’m on the eighth series and there are 26 in total, so I may be interested in The Bill for quite some time. I also plan to write about my experiences as a postgraduate student, as I will be — fingers crossed! — beginning a master’s degree in Literature and Culture this autumn. All I have to do is submit my application, but that hurdle is easily overcome.
(Actually, it’s the master’s that inspired me to start keeping this blog. It’s been four years since I completed my undergraduate degree and I worry that I’ve forgotten how to write in the interim. I’m hoping it will prove to be much like riding a bicycle and it’ll soon come back to me. Then again, I never did learn to ride a bicycle, so it may not be the best example I could have selected.)
My asks are open should you wish to say hello — or anything else! You can also find me at @radioactivearchive, which is devoted to the BBC Radio 4 comedy series Radio Active (my first love!), and @annadaptors, which is devoted to nothing in particular.
