Motes of dust dancing in the sunlight
Knifing a path through a slit in the curtains.
How many years had the room been closed?
His arm swept round towards the clock.

The air is dead.
Silent, except for the minute hand
Juddering up towards the hour.
Brown wallpaper, dark furniture, threadbare carpets,
Faded hurts.
