Creating Halloween Patterns
I love Halloween. It’s one of my favourite days of the year. Me and my siblings used to go out ‘Trick or Treating’ and got loads of sweets and money but the best part was the rare opportunity for us all to spend some quality time together.
With Halloween just around the corner, I wanted to create something cute – just to be different this year. There are many iconic characters and objects that…

Colourful flowers part 2; I take so many photos! Another beautiful selection of flower photography for you to enjoy and practice painting or drawing from.
You’ll probably see a lot of flowers from gardens I’ve visited on here. Mostly because when I visit a friend or family member I’m usually taking photos of their lovely colourful flowers. These were taken when we visited some open gardens as mentioned in my previous post.
As a side note, I cannot for the life of me remember the name of the red pom-pom looking flowers below. If you know what they are, leave a comment below!
Challenge Time!
Here’s a little challenge for you, use one of the images below or others from my photography and create a new piece of art using a medium you’ve never used before or one that you would like to improve with. Post your results below or on my Instagram and make sure to use the hashtag #dfbchallenge so I can find your work.
Have a wonderful day!

Inktober 12: whale. I wanted to learn how to use my Ohuhu markers a bit better so I used those and my Sakura Micron pens here. If anyone has any tips for using Ohuhu markers, comment below I'd really appreciate some help with them😅 https://www.instagram.com/p/Bo3imBelKRP/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=ex4t6uwe4vm2

Digital Art: Fantasy Dragon Dancer + Colouring Page
Fantasy worlds are my most favourite to paint and the characters within them are so much fun to create.
After sketching my dragon, I really wanted to draw another one. I didn’t want it to be just a dragon though since I wanted to test myself to see how much creative knowledge I still have after the long hiatus or little to no art at all for 6 years. Drawing people has always been a bit…

Flowers bring a lot of colourful inspiration in life. They are the decoration of mother nature and having them around brings a sense of joy to a home or garden. I love to spend time in the garden and to visit other gardens where ever possible. We had the opportunity to view some gardens over the summer and the flowers were so beautiful.
Colourful flowers are great subjects for any art medium. I’m still practising with watercolour and markers, flowers are my go to for a quick sketch to paint or colour over.

Our collection of Daliah's is growing! We did loose a few over the winter but these ones are more established and likely to survive for next year 💞 It makes me so happy to finally have a garden of colour! 😊 ❤️ https://www.instagram.com/p/BmGJAzclRyn/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=y5uu8zdko0sl

Coping With Loss
Although not a nice thing to write about, this is something that all of us have had to deal with at some point in our lives.
My older sister passed away 11 years ago(15th July 2007). She was my rock, my inspiration and the only one who really ‘got’ me when I was younger. She pushed me to do things I feared and taught me that hard work pays off. Since the day she passed away, I vowed to be better.

5 Easy Ways to Stay Motivated
Staying motivated can be really hard to do if you don't have a process of finding and keeping. Here are five of my tips to help keep you motivated.
We all have days where the focus just seems to be absent and everything other than the task we should be doing is much more ‘fun’. Staying motivated is quite hard when there are so many things around us which distract us and almost always leads us to a loss of focus.
So to stay motivated, how can we do it without too much of our precious time used?
1. Set Up Purposely
End each day specifically…

Cute Little Griffin
A griffin is a mythical beast that is usually depicted as a lions tail, body and hind legs with an eagle head, front legs and wings.
As always I start with a really messy sketch. This helps me see my mistakes and correct them. I do this as many times as I need to otherwise I may lose interest in my painting; which is not what I want to do.
[themify_quote]There are different ways that the name griffin is written. To you, it might be griffon or gryphon.[/themify_quote]
I have three basic steps to my sketches, even if I have to…

Dahlias are very beautiful plants that come in a very large variety of colours. We often have them in our garden to attract and help the bees since they quite like them for their nectar.
Over the years I’ve taken many photos of various Dahlias and I still don’t think I’ve scratched the surface on the number of variations of colours there are.
Ever wanted to practice using watercolour paints? Dahlias make a great subject for painting practice and with all those vibrant colours you can make some beautiful artwork from them.

The beauty of a forest is so magical. Being surrounded by so much greenery and water creates a sense of calm and tranquillity.
Whenever we visit a forest, I can’t help but capture the beautiful sights. If only my single pictures could capture the sounds of the trees gently rustling in the breeze, the birds chirping so happily and the sound of the water as it moves ever so calmly through the rocks. I just loved it so much!
Not every forest we have visited has a stream and some don’t have nice mossy rocks but, this one had both mossy rocks and water. bonus!
As an artist, I’m always on the lookout for new textures and study pieces to practice painting. Water has been a very hard challenge because it’s ‘colour’ is created by reflections, light and shadow.
Have a wonderful day!

Digital Dragon Sketch Process + Lineart
For the first time in 5 years, a lovely dragon sketch waiting to be coloured in!
For those who prefer to watch a video, I’m currently editing a recording I’ve done for this sketch which will be available on my YouTube channel later today but, for now, keep scrolling to read the step by step I took to draw my hopping/running dragon.

A trip to Lands End UK
As an artist, I really enjoy looking for the finer details in nature. Rocks, cliffs, and mountains are amazingly beautiful if you take the time to really look at them. The sea creates these beautifully details rock formations over years of erosion.
During my time visiting Cornwall, we took a trip down to lands end to see what it looked like at the time. Although there were some attractions there, I was far more interested in how the sea had sculpted the rock formations.
It wasn’t a particularly warm day for the most part but we did get to laze on the beach for a while in a cove nearby.
Have a wonderful day!
