There was an attempt to look offended but it was too short lived to be believable and instead Holly leaned in, arm on the back of her chair as her chin rested on her palm. “We don’t have to get along to make out,” she said with a raise of her eyebrows. “You think making out on this beautiful evening would do us any harm?” She countered with a wide grin. It was hard to tell whether or not she was serious at that point and though she thought of Chase Hastings as a friend and just a friend, she wasn’t planning on saying no to anything that night.

"You're right. People far worse than us at getting along have done more than simply make out." He picked his phone up off of the table and slipped it inside his jacket. He gave a slight nod, having caught the raise of her eyebrow and the way she repeated his question back, verbatim. "I don't think it could hurt very much, not unless a particular ex of mine takes it completely wrong." He stood up, holding his hand out towards her before pulling her in close. As far as temptations went for him, Holly was pretty innocent - she was creative and fun but anything beyond friends was off the table. But a kiss couldn't hurt much and with all of the dancing happening around them, joining in there couldn't hurt either. He gave her a quick kiss on the lips before starting for the dance floor. "C'mon, show me just how you tear things up out here."

“People have been talking about this for a whole month?” She asked, her voice letting out a small squeal at the end of the sentence. People knew about that for so long? Had she been living under a rock this whole time? “What does that make me?” She asked her head shaking in disbelief. “I’ve been a vampire for like 4 years now?” She said, unsureness ringing in her voice. She could count it easily, as she was turned on her birthday yet she simply didn’t want to. What was the point? “And the funny thing is, I was mad at Stefan for so long, but then this happens and I realize I love being dead. There has to be some kind of irony to that.” She added. “What about you. How does it feel for you, I mean, you always had a heartbeat, so?”

The fact she’d partially startled him did not go amiss, but Phoebe left him to recover without any apology on her end. Waiting until he had responded, refraining from rolling her eyes at his lack of understanding, she snorted. “Sex, hooking up, et cetera.” After her short explanation, she couldn’t help but actually roll her eyes at his following words. “It’s only off limits if you count it to be. I’d personally encourage the latter, considering your past experience. There’s nothing like the thrill of doing something you think you shouldn’t be.”
"Okay, I wasn't fully sure but that's along the lines of what I figured you were suggesting." He continued staring between the two people she'd pointed out. "As true as that might be, I think I'll have to refrain from pursuing either of them. Probably best I keep my hands full with whatever they're already into. But by all means, who would you choose and please enlighten the class as to why? I’m curious to hear your reasoning.”

Clearly, her human alcohol tolerance was a lot lower than when she was a vampire. It felt like she barely had any drinks and yet, Lily found herself bumping into people as she walked through the crowd, apologies thrown around every few seconds and a few familiar faces asking her if she was okay. She was on her way to inform Oliver that she had found the drinks by herself, drinks which he had refused to get for her, when a commotion caught her attention and she walked over curiously. Raised voices sobered her up a little bit, and worry coursed through her – wanting to understand what was wrong when she heard the sound of furniture falling and glasses breaking – and suddenly, with a shocked scream escaping her lips, she was falling. ( @chasehastings )
It had been twelve years since he's spent any time as merely a human without any of the extras that come with being a wolf. And before that he'd only had access to so much illegally obtained alcohol so he found himself being extra cautious the night of the ball. The night had been moving smoothly even with the occasional drunken mishap but all of a sudden, things seemed to fall into a commotion. He had left the main room to handle a quick call and was on his way back when he'd seen Lily fall. "Lil!" Rushing to the stairs and her side, he bent to try and help her. "What the - are you alright?"

As she watched him glance around the room, a mischievous grin tugged at her lips as she waited for his response. “You calling this charm Seymour?” she teased before she laughed at the thought of what would have happened if Mrs. Henderson was there. “Oh I would pay to see this, now I wanna find out if she’s here and see you lay on the charm for her.” she replied with a grin, already picturing Chase trying to lay on the charm with Mrs. Henderson. It seemed like it would be an interesting interaction to watch. “Only a little? Damn if this is your little..” she didn’t finish her sentence, merely shrugging a little. The reference brought a laugh to her lips once more, the movie was something she adored. “Well, no I think his fashion sense would suit you though. Those glasses and the waistcoat, come through Mr. Krelborn.” she replied with a grin, and she glanced back to Laura, “I might, I’ve been thinking of heading back out. Why, you joining me Mr. Krelborn?”
"You don't find me charming, Mandy?" That was something he couldn't do again. Her name wasn't Amanda but it felt even weirder turning that into a nickname. One day the joke might wear off but today was not that day. "I'm very good when it comes to respecting my elders. I'm very sure she'd find me the most charming kid in this room. Or I'll at least get my cheek pinched." He flashed a grin her direction again before shrugging. "Maybe I'm wrong and I actually have no charm whatsoever. Maybe that all went to the other side of the family and I was left with nothing." He held the sides of his jacket open, attempting to visualize Mr. Krelborn's wardrobe. "You think I should start ordering bits of my Halloween costume already? Maybe find somebody to come out on the town with me as Audrey or even, Audrey the Second." He gave a slight smirk before holding out his hand. "I would not mind coming back out to the floor. We should get some dancing in before the evening is cut short for one reason or another." He hoped it would be due to Levi needed something more than the Clave but judging by past events, he doubted they'd be so lucky.

They fell in step to the song easily and it was almost like stepping into the past, when it was just them against the world. He had his job, she had her stubborn need to be independent and still they carved out time to just be them. Chase wasn’t a parent and Lindy was just human. She let out a soft sigh as she wrapped her arm around his shoulder and held on as they danced, a far more familiar closeness than two old friends dancing. "I think the last time was the party your label threw for the fourth of July,” she said almost humming at the memory. Simpler times for sure.
“I also remember that you ended the evening in your underwear hiding in a room while I cleaned clam dip off of your clothes because that server tripped over a mic cord and covered you in it.” She giggled at the thought and shook her head. “I still get nauseous around clam dip to this day after being that up close and personal with it.” She looked up at him with a smile that told him she wouldn’t have changed it for the world. “I believe that was when you started double checking that cords were taped down properly. Lessons learned.”
"First off, I don't even know who approved clam dip for that party." It was easier to talk about the past even if those were the days spent away from the family and keeping most everybody at arm's length. Back when all he had was his ear for music, starting the label and giving her what time he could. She hadn't been the only girl to occupy his time but she'd been the only one to break down his walls enough to make him continually return to her every time they called it quits. Second, who thought it was a good idea to have a party for the Fourth of July that wasn't around a pool?"
He held her hand in his before twirling her out and dipping her slightly before resuming their steady pace with the music. "That actually led to me triple checking now and having somebody else check to make sure. Also, clam dip is banned from every single label party from her until the end of eternity." He smiled down at her, more than thankful to her for the past that they shared. There were so many things about the future that were uncertain and the present was constantly surprising him but she'd been there and understood so many of the things he couldn't share with anybody else. "Where would I have been if you weren't there?" To help clean off the clam dip, to listen when he lamented about the loss of family he brought on himself - she was the best thing to come into his life and yet she deserved more than he could give her.

In response, she shrugged, the shoulders of her weakly lined leather jacket bunching up. “Coping mechanism? Who knows why people do the things they do. You know I don’t take shit seriously.” Clearly she was projecting, the remark of the coping mechanism directed at herself specifically. The way she responded to the topic at hand clearly her own method of doing so. “I didn’t know you were here and I’m just passing through.” She cocked her head at his statement, brows furrowing as something about it seemed to bother her, though she couldn’t place a finger on what. “Someone else?” Another shrug instead finding more interest in the open mic night than another case of mistaken identity. “It’s not your show but you’ve put some names on the roster. I’m a name. I’ve got some new songs. One of them’s even about you.” Ever laughed, resting her chin on her hands, expression hiding whether or not she was joking about this, too.
"I wouldn't expect you to know I was here. It's not as if I set out to make it public knowledge that I was moving back home to a safe haven after the loss of part of my family in another." Even with a social media presence, some things needed to stay protected. It wasn't as if he was hanging banners or skywriting 'Chase Hastings has moved - find him in Hollow Grove, Massachusetts.' Maybe it was a thing they just never had talked about, maybe she and Issy knew about each other and kept it to themselves for whatever reason of their choosing. "Passing through for how long? Do you have family here?" Or maybe something else was going on, something that didn't fully concern him. "You've definitely got songs and we definitely have the space for your name. and is that so? What's it about exactly? How dashingly handsome I am and good at my job?"

lindyxcabrera·:
She let out a breath of relief when he pulled her into his arms. There wasn’t anything more than that familiar comfort that had always been there in his touch. She’d forgotten how much she needed it. It felt like she could breathe again, but with each breath she felt the tears building until she was downright sobbing against his chest. Something she’d rarely done in front of anyone, let alone Chase. She couldn’t stop it thought, those new heightened emotions taking over and making it impossible to reign them in. So she stood there, crying her heart out as she clung to him like he was the only thing keeping her sane.
“I was… working… and this guy… he grabbed me and got kicked out and I forgot all about him…” her words were labored through the sobs. “But he was waiting for me in the parking lot, and he… he… he tried to grab me… to take me somewhere I guess… I fought with him… he threw me down and I kicked out at him… he fell… broke his neck… I didn’t mean to kill him, Chase… I just… he was going to take me and probably kill me… I just… I…” her words dissolved into the tears she’d been holding back since the second she heard that sickened crack of his neck echo through her skull. She hadn’t gotten over the shock of that night until her shift a week later, and that had only started another round of fear in her. She hated feeling out of control and she let out a growl of anguish and frustration that she didn’t even recognize. “I’m… I’m sorry… you know I’m not like this,” she said trying to compose herself.
It had been an accident that led to him triggering his own curse, a mistake that he'd regretted every day since it happened. Knowing minutes after it was done exactly what the next coming months would led to and be the setup for the rest of his life as a wolf. He only cycled through the memories once as she recounted her story - now wasn't the time to think about himself, not when he'd dealt with the change so many times over. At her second wave of tears waved, he soothingly ran a hand up and down her back. "Shh, shh, it'll be alright. We'll find you more support and I'm not going anywhere."
"Accidents happen, Lin. Unfortunately, for you and I both, it set something in motion we couldn't stop or take back." He pulled back slightly to look her in the eyes, his hands still on her arms. "In this town, you'll learn there are plenty of folks who didn't meant to kill somebody but did and ended up in the same predicament. It's a common theme actually but coming here was probably the best thing." There were so many people in Hollow Grove alone who wouldn't shy away from sharing their stories or ways to handle things better - as much support as he'd found in Nashville after settling, it'd never compare to the support of the Greyson pack. "Wait...did you handle your first shift all alone?"

ships for Cal, Julia, Ivan, Amber, and Lindy?
“I must admit I’ve a soft spot for Mr. Renard and our very own Ms. Margaret Blackwell, don’t you? Julia’s a wild card, she could go in many different ways. Thomas, perhaps? I know Ivan and our lovely Lady Godiva have unfinished business, as well. Amber hasn’t made her preferences known to me as of yet so I must hold off. Lindy, it’s fairly obvious she’s only here for Chase, isn’t it? Nothing can stand in the way of true love, especially not when a woman looks like that in a red dress.”

Dani took a moment to fix her dress, making sure that there were no marks or rips that would threaten her being there. When satisfied, she placed her glass on the table that was close to them and took in a deep breath. Even though the fall wasn’t fatal, it made her heart beat go crazy. And after so many years without one, the foreign feeling made it seem that it was going to jump out of her chest. “Give me a moment here.” She said as she held her index finger in front of him, alerting him to stay still. Finally, when she was satisfied with everything around her, she nodded her head and stood tall. “Yes, I found out about this approximately an hour ago. It is the one time I didn’t check up on all the talk around town.” She rolled her eyes slightly but smiled at him. “Chase, you should know me enough to know that I don’t do human. And now you’ve got the first-hand experience.” She said, motioning to the place she had just fallen.
Chase let his eyes wander around the room, affording her as much privacy as possible while she fixed her dress in a room full of others. He gave her a slight nod, still just taking in the people in the room - so many of them experiencing life as a human again after decades of being the undead. As she spoke, he pulled his attention back to her and smiled himself. "Next to the ball, it's been the talk of this town for at least the last month. I haven't been straight human for thirteen years but it's not that outrageous. Aren't you fairly new to this vampire thing, though, Dani?" He wasn't sure how exactly the older vampires were taking to once again being a human with a heart beat but as far as he knew she hadn't been one for years and years.

MASQUERADE SUPERLATIVES. Top 5 Best Dressed Women? Top 5 Best Dressed Men? Top 5 Best Masks? Most likely to be wasted by the end of the night? Most likely to strip off their clothes? Most likely to pull a prank on a room full of fresh humans?
“My, you do ask a lot of questions, don’t you… Let’s see, in no particular order:
Best Dressed Women: (+5)
Savannah Daniels, Pippa Percy, Cassie Cresswell, Luna Shaw, Delilah Reyes, Morgan Ambrose, and Nyx Brraganza.
But really, all of them. Joslyn Blackwell? Ever and Issy? This was difficult.
Best Dressed Men: (+3)
Less difficult. Wyatt LeBlanc, Tobias Pierce, Teddy Beacon, Ivan Blahnik, and Touma ‘Chou’ Dannika. Of course, Noah Blackwell, Emmett Bryson, and Nathaniel Greyson are also cutting fine figures in their outfits.
Top 5 Best Masks: (+11)
Noah Blackwell, Ian Tyler, Dora Lind, Mac Cameron, Tobias Pierce, Dylan Wright, Cat Santos Rose, Cal Renard, Chou Tannika, Lincoln Rossi, Chase Hastings, Adam Haley, Val Remington, Tom Scheffer.
I hope you weren’t looking for accurate numbers, I simply chose not to choose.
Most Likely to be Wasted:
Jacob Thorne.
Most Likely to Strip:
Rumor has it Holly Chevalier is looking for a reason to grace us all with a performance of her version of Lady Godiva. Someone get this woman a horse, immediately.
Most Likely to Prank:
Once upon a time I would have said Oliver Hastings. Adam Haley, even. Perhaps Scout Matthews, sans humanity. Now, however, I’m beginning to think the mantle solely belongs to Valentin Remington.
Satisfied?

"And you have a way of knowing what I need without me even knowing I want it.” She couldn’t help but close her eyes and lean in as he kissed her temple, the small gesture stirring that old familiar want for him in her chest. She told herself it was simply the fact that she was so high on being human again, and hid the shiver that ran down her arm trying to catch his touch. She took a breath when he stepped away and tried to collect herself as he ordered her a drink.
She took it with a smile of thanks and took a sip, turning herself slightly as he began to comment on her looks. Showing off her curves a bit as she raised an eyebrow. She smiled at his words and felt a small blush heat up her cheeks. He still knew just what to say to woo her, something vastly different from the usual catcalls she heard. His words alone made her feel more beautiful than the numbers thrust at her while she was working. She set her drink down and took his hand, doing a small curtsy. “I would love to dance,” she said trying to ignore the heat in their simple touching of hands.
If only I knew what I wanted without questioning it all the time... He let the thought dissipate. He knew he was constantly drawn to her because a part of him was always going to need her. Their life in Nashville had been simple enough and more fulfilling than any relationship he'd had before her or during their off times. And it'd be nothing but a massive fib if he said he didn't constantly want her. Even now, on a night when they weren't together, he couldn't keep his hands off of her or his lips, for that matter.
She deserved more than a man who was caught up in his work and now had the added responsibility of caring for a brother who didn't really know him as anything than a face on the other side of a screen. She deserved what he had watched his parents have and life constantly felt like it wouldn't let him the type of man his father had been. Every thought was pushed aside as she took his hand and he carefully he led back to the dance floor. "When's the last time we did this?" Even just her hand in his and his other innocently enough on the small of her back made him feel more at ease than he had in months.

“Why wouldn’t I? Life would be so dull and boring otherwise.” Nik simply grinned at the other’s reaction. Oh, the pleasure in annoying others, in seeing them upset- that wasn’t something he could just measure easily. “Of course. Isn’t life about evolution? Let the Originals step down and more Hybrids come to life.”
"You're ready to give up immortality for a bunch of new hybrids?" Chase raised an eyebrow at the man he should have had more respect for, if only because he was family and an elder at that. "Sometimes tell me you wouldn't step aside that quickly. I don't know call it a hunch but I don't think any of you would just move out of the way for a group of newly created hybrids who don't know what they're doing. Your motives would just be different from your siblings."

This was everything she’d ever hope for. Christmas and her birthday all rolled into one, the same feeling she’d imagine she’d get from winning a Tony, Holly was so incredibly alive that she swore she felt even better than she ever did as a vampire. Extra powers be damned. She knew it was for one night, though she wasn’t letting that damper her mood, and almost as if this was her last day on earth she was making sure to enjoy, everything. Even the lowered alcohol tolerance didn’t seem to bother her as she’d had more than her share of drinks and was twirling all over the damn place. feeling more graceful than ever when she landed on a chair. “Hi–” her eyes were glazed over by now, lazy smile on her face that was interrupted by a burst of happy laughter. “Beautiful evening, no? You wanna make out?”
The last time he'd been just human, most days were spent being as careful as possible because he knew the risk that came with even the simplest accident against another person backfiring. One wrong move and the curse would be his to bear for a lifetime, hell, one stupid decision with a group of other stupid lads had made it his to carry. And tonight without any of that responsibility that came with the curse and only the slight responsibility of Levi, Chase found himself able to sit back and take a load off. He'd danced a bit, kept the drinking to a minimum and now was able to breathe without all of the added pressure. He had just hung his head back in an effort to crack his neck when the offer brought him back to attention. With a slight chuckle, he tried once more to crack with neck with a slight head twist before taking in the sight of the young woman. "We couldn't even produce a Christmas show without arguing...you really thinking making out on this beautiful evening would do us any good?"

She nodded along with his sentiment, and as the voice registered with her she realised who was standing next to her and her smile widened a little, though she didn’t say anything just yet. She was still too busy being proud of Laura, who’d suddenly turned into a young woman despite the fact that they had the two biggest town train wrecks for parents. She chuckled softly as Chase recognised her, an embarrassing blush at the compliment warming her cheeks, not used to getting as many compliments as she was tonight. “Oh this old thing? Just something I had laying around, y’know. Amanda? I don’t know her.” she replied playfully, turning her attention towards him now, a small smirk still playing lightly on her lips, “What if I was Mrs. Henderson?” she replied with a grin, before relenting. “Lookin’ good Seymour. Having fun?”
"If you were Mrs. Henderson..." Chase let his eyes wander around the room, contemplating what exactly he would have done if she were the old woman with the less than stellar attitude. With a slight nod and his eyes back on the woman near him, he continued. "...I'd be putting on the charm even more, hoping you don't wallop me with a cane or your hand for not recognizing you more. I'd probably ask you if you needed a drink or cared to dance at all." He gave her a smile before taking a slight bow. "Thank you much, miss. Sometimes I try to make a tiny bit of an effort, just a little bit. I may go by the name Seymour but I can't dare to be compared to a flower shop assistant from the 80s. And I am, so far. It's still a pretty quiet evening but so far it's been fun. Do you plan on watching that girl all night or would you care to join her on the dance floor?"
