“I heard the last year’s ball was a blast.” Nik smirked as he took a sip of his drink. It was odd; his senses were so much more dull, that they felt non existent. How did humans survive like this? It was ridiculous. The only decent thing was the taste of alcohol, so much stronger no that he was so much more vulnerable to it. “You think something like that’s gonna happen this year, too? I’m rooting for a witch hybrid.”

She was hungry. She wasn’t hungry for blood, revenge, or even alcohol- she was simply hungry, and Maggie had no idea how to deal with it. She’d been eyeing various horderves thorough the night, assuming she could just wait it out, yet that seemed to not be the case. Finally caving in, she stopped at one of the tables with food displayed there, picking up what she assumed to be filling enough. Taking a bite, she looked up, feeling someone’s eyes on her. “You know, even I thought that eating was going to be the last thing I missed.” She admitted, taking another bite.

Chou adjusted his mask, butterfly themed of course and settled for wandering around the ball, looking at everything as though it were wholly new. He already missed his little illusion following him around but Mother had insisted he not use it at the ball... With the moon he’d be unable to enjoy its company all evening. With a sigh the green-haired witch turned and offered a polite smile to a passerby, “Will people actually dance at this or simply mill around drinking instead?” he asked tonelessly, “I’ve never attended a ball before, the etiquette’s all new to me.”

Everything felt like it was stuffed with cotton. His ears, his nose, even his eyesight wasn’t as sharp as he was used to having it be. He couldn’t pick his way through the crowd nearly so easily and all of Desmond’s movements seemed clumsy and heavy to him. His vampire abilities had become so much a part of him he’d stopped noticing, long ago, how much different they were than being human. It agitated him, to know that he wasn’t nearly as fast or strong as he was used to being. Humans were so...breakable. Worse, the music sounded dull and flat. He couldn’t pick out nearly as many of the tones or complexities and that was almost as big a tragedy as the rest. Still, he’d come because he’d wanted to and he would have to try not to spend the night wallowing in his sudden abundance of weaknesses. To that end, he approached someone to strike up a conversation. “How likely do you think it is people will get much more drunk than they intend to tonight, considering most of us are used to having a rather high tolerance for alcohol?”

This was everything she’d ever hope for. Christmas and her birthday all rolled into one, the same feeling she’d imagine she’d get from winning a Tony, Holly was so incredibly alive that she swore she felt even better than she ever did as a vampire. Extra powers be damned. She knew it was for one night, though she wasn’t letting that damper her mood, and almost as if this was her last day on earth she was making sure to enjoy, everything. Even the lowered alcohol tolerance didn’t seem to bother her as she’d had more than her share of drinks and was twirling all over the damn place. feeling more graceful than ever when she landed on a chair. “Hi--” her eyes were glazed over by now, lazy smile on her face that was interrupted by a burst of happy laughter. “Beautiful evening, no? You wanna make out?”

The sky had looked beautiful, she had to admit that and she had found herself standing on a balcony, tucked away from the crowd as she took a moment to breath. She was human, if only for a night and she felt...strange about it all. A mix of emotions overwhelmed the brunette, and she felt she might break down with them all at any moment. To be human was incredible, to still be human without magic hurt, but she had gotten so used to having the power of a werewolf that she was confused to how she felt without it. It had become part of her without her realising it. Hearing a voice behind her she turned around, “...Busted. You found my hiding spot.”

“Hide me! Hide me!” Lily said urgently, dragging the other towards a corner and using them to shield herself from the view of the other people at the party. After a silent couple of seconds, she cautiously peeked from around them, and quickly stepped back on finding that the danger still hadn’t passed. “I spilled red wine over that man and he is.. not happy at all with me to say the least.” she explained, a sigh leaving her lips. She was starting to realize all the perks that came with being a vampire -- it had barely been an hour and she was already exhausted with the whole being human thing.

He couldn’t speak, two Twinkies in his mouth at the same time, so Ian held up a finger to the person that had approached him. He tried to chew and swallow as fast as he could, but he wanted to savor the flavor. He only had one night to taste the sweet goodness of the golden treats, that he’d stocked up on and carried into the Observatory. After another minute, he swallowed thickly, grabbing one of the tiny drink napkins from a nearby table and wiping his mouth. “I just don’t have a lot of time with my tastebuds,” Ian explained. “Sorry.”

Two hours in and he could already tell that this night was going to end prematurely for most of the masked attendants. It was one thing to snicker at their clumsiness, their little frustrations over lack of strength or stamina, it was another to watch them realize their alcohol tolerance levels were way accustomed to. He sat at one of the tables, watching a vampire stumble toward the bathroom with her hand clamped about her mouth. “And another one bites the dust,” he muttered taking a sip from the champagne bottle he’d procured earlier.

HOLLOW GROVE FOUNDER’S M A S Q U E R A D E B A L L
❝ AN EVENING OF COCKTAILS, MUSIC, DINNER AND DANCING UNDERNEATH A RED MOON SKY ❞
You are cordially invited to a Masquerade Ball hosted by the Founders Council. A special evening of cocktails, music, dinner, and dancing under a super blood death moon on Saturday, April 6th. This years masquerade ball falls on the date of a rare super blood death moon. Every millennium the night sky is lit up by a terrifying shade of blood red, radiating from a full moon that hangs in the middle of the night as a meteor shower rains across the sky. On this one night, we all go back to our human roots. With the super blood death moon comes a moment of peace from what we are, a night without magic, a night to remember that we are all human at our very core.
Thus, we invite you to join the founding families of Hollow Grove in a chance to celebrate a rare phenomenon in the sky. The event will commence at 6 o’clock sharp on April, 6th and serves as the stepping stone for a summer filled with numerous founder’s day events. We ask that all attendees come equipped with their finest formal wear as well as a mask. Entry will not be permitted to those who do not follow the dress code, and you will be required to keep your mask on until the end of the evening.
The event will be hosted at the Hollow Grove Observatory and Planetarium where attendees will have a perfect view of the night sky.
ADMIN NOTE:
In celebration of three years together, we are taking back to the beginning, our very first event with Hollow Grove was a masquerade ball that kicked off a hybrid plot that was a year in the making after that and I am so excited for this next chapter for HG. At this point your characters will be aware or at least be hearing about the blood moon that will take their powers away for one night. Some will feel the event is a bad idea and may chose not to attend for their own safety. The founding council will be upping security with hopes that keeping everyone together will make them easier to protect on this dangerous night.
It will be a night these character will never forget.
THE BASICS:
Dates: This event will begin on Friday, April 5th at 6pm CST. It will then go until Saturday, April 20th at midnight.
In game date: The event will take place on Saturday, April 6th.
Dress Attire: Black tie masquerade.
Where: Hollow Grove Observatory and Planetarium
Tag: The event tag will be HGbloodmoon so please remember to tag all event related threads, pictures, outfits, etc. as such. Also, remember that when posting a starter use both the event tag as well as the starter tag.
Other Notes:
This event is not mandatory, it would make perfect sense that your character might choose not to go out of fear that something might happen.
This event is a PLOT DROP event.
If you would like your character to be involved in the main driven plot drops throughout the event, please comment on this post with your characters name and if they are attending.
Your character can volunteer for the plot drop even if they do not attend the ball.
If you have multiple characters please put them in order of preference, I will try and ensure every player gets to be involved.
Volunteers for the drop will only be taken from the comments of this post.
Volunteering for a plot drop means giving the admin the ability to toss your character into any plot shuffle. Character deaths will only be a volunteer basis if you are interested in killing off a character please message the main with that.
If you have a major plot that you’d like incorporated into the event please message the main. I am more than happy to take an idea that you have for your character and tie in more characters to make it part of the event.
For any questions or concerns please message the main.
Lastly, have fun!! This is a chance to interact with everyone and really get things going. We hope you enjoy this event as much as we enjoyed making it for you!!

Lindy felt like she could breathe for the first time since she'd triggered her curse. And a curse it was, as the blood moon seemed to have lifted it from her for the night. Instead of worrying about how she would behave or react, she let herself enjoy the evening. Letting the music wash over her as she accepted dance partner after dance partner. After a while, she made her way to the bar that was far too crowded and slid up by the person closest the bartender. "Buy me a drink?" she asked coyly, since the drinks were running free of change tonight.

“Hooly fucking dooly aye? This thing is fucking fancy.” In spite of the wine sticking his shirt to his chest, Patto hadn’t even really had a drink. The last remaining sips of his wine was nothing, really. “And not gonna lie, I’m kind of loving the no powers thing that’s happenin’ here.” His steps felt lighter, his shoulders relaxed. Although he missed his wind powers a little bit, not having to worry about having an agonising and generally unpleasant vision was most certainly a plus. Knowing nobody else was supernaturally stronger than him was an added extra. “Like, not havin’ to worry about a magic induced fit? Fucking rate it. What about you?”

She was watching Laura through the crowds, a small smile on her lips as she watched her baby sister have fun, and the kind of fun that she deserved. It had been a good idea to come, despite her initial reservations that her younger siblings would end up in trouble whilst they were out. But, it had all turned out for the best, in the end. She sensed someone next to her, and without looking at who it was she nodded in the direction of Laura. “She’s stunning isn’t she?” she replied, wondering when her baby sister had grown up.

Cordelia was enjoying herself – it took a good half hour of getting use to her dulled senses, but beyond that, she wasn’t put off by the fact that she was human again. Or that she could be killed. Considering she should of died back in Russia a long time ago, she stopped fearing death. She didn’t live every day since to the fullest, considering some days she just wanted to sleep all day or play video games from bed. But she did live every day since the way she wanted to – it was the least she could do with her life, after her sire had saved her. So, tonight, her focus was on food, dancing, and staying sober; whilst watching those around her misjudge the amount of alcohol their bodies could now intake.
She wore a tuxedo, and a simple, white mask that went around her eyes. She carried with her a black cane with a silver rose for a handle, a red rose pinned to her suit, and wore a top hat. She was dressed to code, and yet, managed to turn the ordeal into a cosplay opportunity. She doubted the older supernaturals would even know who she dressed as, even if she had worn the cape. But it was all for herself, anyways. She decided to bring her next plate of food over to a random table, where one other sat, inviting herself to join them.
“How long before a drunken argument breaks out?” She asked, taking a bite of food as she leaned back in her chair.

Teddy loved getting dressed up, especially when he got a chance to wear pink suit. It was a statement piece for sure, but he knew he could pull it off. He took a sip of his drink as he made his way through the crowds, smiling at the people around town dressed up, hiding behind masks. Teddy took a seat at the nearest table and took another sip of his drink. He leaned over to the person on his right and chuckled. “It’s incredible, huh?” Teddy asked. “How everyone’s walking around wearing these fancy masks, pretending to be something they’re not. It’s like Halloween... except better.” He replied with a small chuckle and a smirk.

Gaze flickering across the sea of faces in front of her from her seat at the bar, Phoebe took a sip from her drink as the corners of her lips curved upwards. Not bothering to look at the person beside her, she nudged them gently with her elbow to get their attention. “Would you rather,” she began, mischief etched upon her features. “The dude in the navy blue tux,” Phoebe continued, nodding her head in the direction of the guy she was speaking about before averting her gaze to the blonde a few feet from him, “Or her? The one in red.”
