you can hear "one of sordland's most famous musical comedians" warble on about how Rayne's gonna fall
what the hell is the sordish musical comedy scene like

one of my favourite parts of the game by far is how lucian galade comes across as refreshingly reasonable and competent if you play a morally upright rayne, but if you suggest controlling the media he immediately starts talking about how the uneducated masses need to be manipulated to follow our superior judgement and it's like oh. ohhhh. you're fucking insane.

not petr sweating bullets whispering "anton you idiot shutupshutupshutupshutupshutupshutup" when the two of you try to escape sordland together (something every bestie couple should do) and anton threatens a cop with a gun
how the turntables...

the problem with trying to make a Death of Stalin-esque comedy about Sordland is that my fave ministers would never stand for Dictator Rayne in the first place
trying to slot everyone into each role. Beria could be Karl, but it could also be Lileas. with Lileas the eventual coup makes more sense since her and Iosef have beef. Iosef would be Zhukov, I suppose, which makes sense given his proven willingness to stage coups. but if Karl is Beria then Lileas would be Kaganovich. she has that 'Get out of my way you fannies' swag with her
who'd be Malenkov... Albin Clavin? no, but this is Dictator Rayne... Petr? i know he used to be competent, but maybe the years make him worse.
i think Khrushchev should be Lucian. Lucian would plot. he'd seethe while Lileas or Karl keeps outmaneuvering him until he gets the Army on his side, then get couped by said Army like a few years later.
Stalin's two kids slots in easily with Franc and Deana. but older, military academy!Franc would just willingly shit on his dead father for the whole funeral and teenager/just adult Deana would call up divorced Monica and tell her the news.

such a good point actually. why is gus always going around with that gay little coat. it swallows him up. i mean not really but in my mind his head gets tinier and his coat gets bigger every time i think of him
Symon is such a funny guy to me because during my first run i was physically unable to differentiate him from Gus. so he was just Rich Guy to me for like, a while. then i realized the Rich Guy i thought he was was actually Gus, who believe it or not was a different guy, so he was like... austistic coded bureaucrat living in a shitty bureaucrat apartment to me from then on.
then i realized he *was* actually loaded, which flipped my perspective on him *again*...
anyway this is all to say him putting his glasses on and off dramatically to tell me the economy is fucked fifteen miles to hell was pretty funny. you theatrical ass bitch i see you

Best part of the update so far:

Mr. Circas! What a pleasant surprise to see you so...vertical. And breathing!

Sordblr! There was a Reddit thread about how people pronounce the various character/city names in Suzerain, and one that came up was Lucian's last name. The responses were not conclusive. So let's have a poll, I desperately need some closure on this.
#my team translated galade as gal-la-de#ciara as ji-a-ra#wisci is bi-seu-ji#also lucian is pronounced lu-ji-an lmao#all the cs have been turned into js because we ran it through a turkish translator and thats what it spat out#lachhaven is lajihaben and lileas and lil-le-a-seu

I love this scene with Monica that was added for the update!

She's reading books! She's learning about the women's movement in other cultures! (Interesting side note: Both Monica and Lucian did their undergraduate degrees in sociology!)
And here's something else she has in common with Lucian:

Apparently she's always thought Petr was a bad influence on Anton, and that Petr's been predatory with women going all the way back to their university days. There are other hints that she doesn't like Petr, but this is the most explicit. It's reminiscent of Lucian's take, who has also known Petr for a long time
In conclusion: Yay for Monica getting to weigh in on things that are happening! And wouldn't it be great if she and Lucian actually had a scene together?
