Okay so not my usual content but I’m now on my second play through of BG3. I finished my first as an astarion romance route and overall it went pretty good. In the end I did my best to help everyone and got laezel to stay with me even though the prince was gone, Wyll and Karlach went to avernus together (I cried) Jahera and Minsc were chillin and Gale was going to return the crown to mystra.
I am now working on my dark urge play through just entered the under dark and im going for a Shadowheart Halsin romance and im kinda afraid lmao. I don’t want this to end bad. As of now im not being secretive about the urges but im trying to go against them. We shall see.

Artemis looks so absolutely happy to be there for Persephone. It’s a huge contrast between this and her reaction to Persephone admitting she had a crush on hades in episode 64. Of course we still don’t know all that happened between the two during Persephone’s exile, it makes me so happy. Artemis was so relieved to have someone else join tgoem but it’s clear that since then Persephone has become far more important to her than having company during meetings. It really shows the progression of their friendship. (Also Cerberus looks so cute)

Earlier in episode 208 Persephone talks about wanting the whole experience of dating before they get married. She says that while she does want to marry him she feels as though they deserve the full experience. While they’ve gotten some time together it’s not been much but they are both very quick to be happy with this arrangement. Now of course this isn’t a bad thing nor is it unrealistic. I think it’s a perfect example of the heart wants what it wants and both of them know deep down they’re meant for each other. To give a real world example, I had a lot of ideas for certain boundaries I wanted before I met my boyfriend, certain times I wanted to wait before certain things. But I can’t help but break these things on my own because my heart wants what it does. This moment likely wasn’t meant to be so looked at but I thought it was a lovely example of realizing there are things we think of in a certain way but it doesn’t need to be that way and can be better off changed.

Holy hell it was heartbreaking watching Kronos shatter Thanatos like that. Knowing well Hades is probably touched by the thought that he was seen as a comforting father figure. It’s always been clear to us as readers that Kronos was bad but this is just absolutely vile. I hope that they can work out what happened and reconnect or even become closer. Especially considering from Thanatos’s perspective the only family he’s ever felt connected to just told him he wished he was dead.

I saw someone mention they felt bad for Demeter here and I wanted to talk about it. They mentioned she looked so scared and sad here and she definitely is sad and scared but I don’t know if she’s afraid for the right reasons. We clearly see she has some control issues and definitely doesn’t approve of Persephone seeing anyone let alone Hades. We clearly see in season 2 episode 145 that Demeter is terrified of being used to overthrow Zeus but that would only work for one of his sons. I think the only thing she’s truly afraid of here is loosing her grip on her daughter. In episode 160 we see Persephone fears she isn’t what her mother expected and while Demeter cares about her I don’t think that it’s entirely wrong. Demeter was hoping for a loyal daughter who’s dedicated to being the goddess of spring. In contrast Persephone is very independent and dedicated to the Underworld. Demeter is so unwilling to accept that, that she continuously pushes for Persephone to be what she wants.

Im almost nervous to see what Minthe is planning to do here. On one hand her time in the mortal realm might’ve given her perspective and helped her to change. But on the other hand she could still be the same. I hope that by now she has given up on Hades, but in the case she hasn’t she likely will the second she gets down there and hears Persephone is queen. She’ll quickly gather she hasn’t got a chance. But even if she knows that she may still want to cause chaos and try to sabotage their relationship. Or maybe she has other unfinished business we’ll get a glimpse of. Considering her mythology ends after she becomes a plant I’m interested to see where this goes in the future.

Oh this episode was everything I was hoping for and more! Despite seeing how excited and happy Persephone is helping the underworld and living here Demeter still expects her to come home. She still expects it to be a phase completely writing off any of Persephone’s feelings as phases. She has no respect for her daughter and refuses to accept that’s she is a grown woman who makes her own choices. When she hears Persephone is the queen she completely panics and from what we see storms off after learning what’s happened. She is so intent on keeping her control over Persephone and keeping happiness away from Hades she completely disregards all else even if it means putting her relationship with her daughter at risk. One day she will find herself with no daughter and realize how suffocating she has been all Persephone’s life, maybe even before that.

This episode is definitely towards the top of my favorites. It hits so hard and it shows her grief of loosing Hades in a very powerful way. And I love the glimpses of her childhood we get, it’s so interesting hearing her thoughts on her naive feelings towards heartbreak. You can easily see her growth from her childhood to now and even more feel her grow as she learns to put her grief aside and get to work. Lore Olympus time and time again hits hard in the feels with good writing and I love it to death

I love the episodes that start with narration but this one holds a special place in my heart. Just that small section provides so much insight into the way she thinks and how she feels about her situation. In the beginning, being with Zeus and being the queen of the gods seemed so promising. But Zeus’s childish and selfish way of handling his relationships and responsibilities was something she never took into account. She never realized how isolated she would become due to his actions. She feels so terribly small and useless having so little control in her life. That just makes her all the more interesting, the complexities in her changing feelings over time

I’m personally so curious to hear more of what happened during the years Persephone spent in the mortal realm. I wonder if there a plans to incorporate other myths and possibly hero’s from Greek mythology. I always love seeing those little tidbits

I think about this line from Hermes a lot. Especially early on that’s something the fandom needed to understand just as much as Demeter. Despite age after 18 meaning so little people constantly brought up Hades and Persephone’s age difference. Ignoring the fact that they are immortal gods and our rules mean little to them. Ultimately throughout the whole series Persephone is an adult who can make her own decisions and certainly not a human. No human needs to worry if being romantically interested in someone thousands of years older than you is weird. It’s only weird if Persephone herself thinks it is. And they’re age difference is supported through the original myth yet people only bat an eye when it becomes modern. Despite this Persephone is in her 30s now and most of peoples disgust for the ages is solved easily with that but I feels it’s an important thing to note.

I’m extra excited for tonight’s episode so I wanted to go over this interaction in a bit more depth.
It starts with Demeter petitioning to be the queen of the mortal realm, which automatically I don’t understand why she would want that. She doesn’t gain much but the title, and what some humans? I don’t quite see the broad picture of why she wants this here but I have to assume there’s more she would get that we haven’t seen enough into.
Hades then denies it and bribes Zeus to deny it as well. Hades is well within his rights to deny it but definitely shouldn’t have bribed Zeus to. I’m sure Hades knew well no one else would deny her so I understand his motivation in bribing Zeus but definitely shouldn’t have.
When Demeter finds out she is understandably upset, but goes to far in stealing the votes to see who voted against her. She barges into Hades office demanding answers which is again too far. Especially considering he tries to calmly tell her that he’s working and doesn’t have time for this. She ignores this and refuses to leave without answers to which Hades simply states he doesn’t want to loose his volcanoes, which he clearly has some sort of emotional attachment too. When Demeter insists she could’ve traded him something for them.
Hades is rightfully annoyed with her interrupting his work and misunderstanding of his relationship with the volcano’s and snaps at her. He shouldn’t have insulted her the way she did but since being forced to take the role of king of the underworld he has received nothing but hostility from a large portion of the population. It’s likely he’s hostile with a lot of people due to this.
In the end while both did things they shouldn’t have I think Demeter is far more in the wrong than Hades and acts very unempathetic and selfish towards him. Forcing him to retaliate and ultimately causing the terrible relationship they maintain today. With Hades frequent hostility and Demeter’s unwillingness to try to understand why he is like this in the first place.

You deserve someone who’s obsessed with you. Someone who looks forward to coming home to you, every day. Someone who surprises you, and talks about you, and wants to introduce you to everyone they know. Someone who never makes you wonder how much you mean, who never leaves you alone when you’re sad, who loves you even more when you’re being difficult or not fun, and someone who above all else would do anything to see you smile. And don’t ever settle for anything less.
