The sounds of the city were quiet here, and the scent of glaze lilies and silk flowers perfumed the air around Lotte and Xingqiu. The lantern light against the darkened city below them and the black ocean beyond the harbor combined seemed like an extension of the starry sky, creating the illusion that they were suspended in space. Lotte couldn’t even bring herself to blink for fear that the view would vanish. Xingqiu stared at the reflection of the light in Lotte’s eyes.

“This is,” Lotte whispered, spellbound, “the most beautiful sight I’ve ever seen in my whole life.” She wanted to look at Xingqiu to thank him properly, but instead she continued to stare, captivated, out at the vast scene before her. “It’s incredible, Xingqiu…” Completely swept up in the sight of it all, Lotte didn’t notice when Xingqiu took much longer to respond than usual.

“Would you like to see it all up close?” he asked, seeing sights he was used to as if for the first time through Lotte’s eyes. She nodded, and Xingqiu rested his hand lightly on her shoulder. “Well, then, allow me to give you a proper tour of Liyue Harbor at night.”
