friday | june 20 14/100 dop (two weeks in!!) steps: 10.0k

officially done with the first week of my summer research job! i'm giving a presentation on my project next week, so i spent most of my workday prepping some slides. i also got in 50 minutes of strength training in the morning and made dinner with my housemates after work.

goals for the weekend include fulfilling some house-cleaning responsibilities, a bit of meal prep for the week, and spending a good chunk of time on grad school research, which i've more or less abandoned for the past week.

The best advice i can give any creator is do it before you're good at it, do it BEFORE you're happy, do it while you suck, do it while you're doubting yourself and get stuck the fuck in, because waiting around to be "good enough" is a motherfucking trap of the highest degree. You'll get good along the way and better after ever project is complete. Remember, this is the greatest thing you've ever created, and then you'll do something else. You're only ever gonna get better, but not if you stand still.

PhD Day 145: it's Sunday and I technically didn't work. But I have spent a while organising my coming week so I can start with more ease knowing a plan is there waiting for me. I have also spent way too long writing an application for an internship that I'm not sure I want.

For next week, I hope my brain will be in a learning mood because I really need to speed up my reading.

Hay fever is killing me this year and the OTC stuff is doing a 3/5 star job. Guess I'll have to start seeing an allergologist again (for the first time since I was like... 11? lol). I don't let it stop me from powering through chem tech though!! The final is tomorrow and I'm feeling pretty confident about it - I've studied quite a lot and I think I'll manage to fill in all the gaps in my knowledge today :)

i feel like theres this problem of people not really understanding why something is bad and they just invent vague gray morals behind their uptake of the status quo of whatever thought chamber they ended up in through their friends and social connections. and they either dont care enough or are scared to learn. to betray Not Knowing. because asking questions gets you punished especially when its about things the people around you take for granted. you can ask why is cannibalism bad and people will take it to mean you think its good. not to mention the fear of displaying a knowledge gap. people are mean as fuck. its scary to explicitly express not know something. especially about sensitive or hot button topics. i feel like a lot of folks have this assumption that youre supposed to know everything from birth. have all your morals sorted out from the beginning. but thats not how it is, contrary to what theyll have you believe. so people go around pretending to others and to themselves that their vibes based morals are the correct ones because at worst it doesnt cross their mind and at best theyre scared to Learn, to Ask. 1984 society of secret knowledge gaps in us all that we wont betray any sense of for fear of social ostracization. idk just some #Thoughts
