Hey friends, apparently I just kind of skipped over summer, which is pretty on brand for me. Now that the weather is finally getting cooler, have a new ootd, featuring my most Jewish jewelry, because fuck antisemitism and also l'Shana Tova.
I forgot to post a picture of the finished project that I was working on this winter/spring. This is the square I made for my two best friends' wedding quilt, featuring a verse (or most of a verse) from one of our favorite songs. The quilt came out amazingly, and the wedding itself was this past weekend. So much love. I'm still glowing.
Everyone at the studio is getting sick, so I made a massive batch of elderberry syrup and am distributing it to all my friends. Stay healthy, damnit!!
There is something so satisfying about making my own medicine, whether it's this or the salve that heals my ripped up hands and legs or the teas I drink to ease a sore throat. I'm so grateful to have had the chance to learn this stuff from my Mom and from other wise women that I grew up with.
I learned a new song. It's midnight and I have the house to myself, so what better time to work on getting over my fear of other people hearing me sing?
My two best friends are marrying each other next summer, and we're surprising them with a wedding quilt. This is a verse from a song we all sing together called The Blackest Crow.
Came home from training last night exhausted and frizzy, but still feeling kind of cute. As per usual, everything was either a hand-me-down, a gift, or appropriated from my mother ages ago (i.e. the hippy skirt).
I also started dying my hair blue again last summer for the first time since I've grown it out, and it makes me so happy. It somehow manages to be both really vibrant and surprisingly subtle, depending on the light and how I'm wearing it. This is how I braid my hair for training, since it keeps everything secure and out of my way, and I love how the blue shows up in the second loop of braid.
