there is a significant amount of star wars to star wars, so i don't blame people for not caring about legends darth plagueis, but i really have to tell you how absolutely fucking funny that whole thread of canon is. essentially an old guy from space wall street and a mildly younger senator are evil cultists designing a sith empire owing their cult lineage to dudes from a thousand years ago, and they're experimenting with eternal life and creating life from the force, and then accidentally make a guy that the jedi immediately hail as baby space jesus, but actually baby space jesus is just the product of two sith lords weird sciencing some bullshit over working dinners. they had some chardonnay and discussed a bit of political gossip and then started planning crimes against nature. like if you crossed back to the future with mary shelley's frankenstein, that's kind of how anakin skywalker got made. his dad's not the force itself, it's two uppity rich sith lords who probably should've gone into collecting space stamps instead of creating crimes against nature, anakin's quite literally just frankenstein's monster if frankenstein literally didn't know he'd succeeded at weird scienceing a new dude, despite knowing said new dude for like thirty odd years. that's fucking hilarious. luke trying so hard not to commit patricide in ROTJ is immediately followed by anakin committing quasi-one-half-patricide without even knowing it, how is anakin's life so weird he commits quasi-patricide TWICE? also, anakin's sith grandfather wanted to possess his body. i couldn't make this up if i tried.
