Fun fact!
Nommeking City is inspired by a bunch of places, including High End NYC and Times Square -- but also Portorosso from the movie Luca, in the sense that the casual frescos and art depict a history of violence against a species considered as monsters.
In Portorosso it was Sea Monsters.
In Nommeking?

Grimwalkers. And this was a time before well Belos arrived on the BI.
It's already been established in story that Scarytales suggest that Grimwalkers were sought after for various parts of their bodies that (supposedly)granted power to whomever possessed it.
Blood being the most powerful to Oracles, and Nommeking is the City of Oracles. In its history it had been the main seat of power on the BI -- of course that shifted after Belos' ascent to power.
And like Old New York was Once New Amsterdam ... Nommeking was given its current name AFTER that shift.
SCOM New Chapter!
Thanks for being patient folks!
We're counting down now!

I'm re-reading the Discworld series for reasons, and honestly the most relatable part of reading these as an adult is how many of the protagonists start out being tired, used to their little routine and vaguely disgruntled by the interruption of the Plot. Sam Vimes wants to lie drunk in a gutter and absolutely doesn't want to be arresting dragons. Rincewind is yanked into every situation he's ever encountered, though he'd much rather be lying in a gutter too. (Minus the alcohol. Plus regretting everything he's ever done said witnessed or even heard about fourth-hand in his whole life.) Granny Weatherwax is deeply suspicious of foreign parts and that includes the next town over; Nanny has leaned into the armor of "nothing ever happens to jolly grannies who terrorize their daughters-in-law and make Saucy Jokes"
Only the young people don't seem to have picked up on this---and that's fortunate, because someone has to run around making things happen, if only so Vimes and Granny and Rincewind have a reason to get up (complaining bitterly the whole time) and put it all to rights. Without Carrot, Margrat, Eric, etc. these characters don't have that reason; they're likely to stay in the metaphorical gutter and keep wondering where it all went wrong or why anything has to change.
............well, that's not quite true. You get the sense that Vetinari knows how much certain people hate the Plot. And as the person sitting behind the metaphorical lighting board of Ankh-Morpork, he takes no small pleasure in forcing the Plot-haters specifically to stand up, and say some lines.

Haaaaaa! Not bad odds.
New chapter is up.
SCOM Reader’s Poll
Just curious because this story is so long and involved!
Heading into the Nommeking Arc (which will feature the final Bard! Hunter moment of SCOM.
Does anyone recall when this city has been mentioned in the past?

What exactly do you look for in a story? Do you have a particular story genre that you like? Fluff? Angst? A mixture of both? Basically, what tickles your fancy
Oh!
So I am a big sucker for a mixture of angst and fluff! When I'm reading non-fan fic stuff I generally read horror/suspense/thriller/dark fantasy/scifi.
I was not a big reader when I was a kid, which probably seems weird to you -- but the books that were available to be just weren't what I wanted to read. The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe was one of the first books I LOVED, but for the most part the offerings were just not my cup of coffee.
I like reading about complicated characters and relationships. I like when I can really connect with the characters!
Most of the books I really LOVE are a bit weirder -- but they are an emotional experience in all the ways!
When i read fan fiction, I'm already connected to the characters so it's up to the narrative to do the best.
Hope this answers your question.

It feels right that after a year of no Owl House, TOH would give us one final, perfect gift in the form of another universe that captures everything we loved about the original, the beginning of a different yet similar story, one that will never be finished... But the potential, the endless horizons that come from any direction this other story could take, provides the basis for everlasting speculation and discussion and creation. And I think that's beautiful, a final gift encouraging us to take out our pencils and other tools and fill out the blanks and make our own stories with, just as Dana and the crew were inspired to make their own stories by watching other shows and often wanting to fill in the blanks themselves!
