My takeaway of it all…Bobby didn’t need to die
Every single one of these outcomes for the characters could have happened without Bobby dying.
Yes, even Athena selling the house. They could’ve sold the house together and decide to retire quietly…ROBERT WADE NASH DID NOT NEED TO DIE

Here’s the thing.
There’s something to be said about Athena throwing herself into her work, Chimney being angry, Buck trying to help others (fixer type stuff), Eddie repressing his emotions, Hen wanting to be there with everyone even though she’s not ready. Like these are all things that are reasonably within character.
The problem is that they dedicate too much time into this side storyline that isn’t good. They don’t give time for each character to have a moment. They want to act like it’s an ensemble show but they don’t give the ensemble any time to mourn a character that meant a lot to all of them.
They time skip to avoid the initial grief but that’s where interesting television lies. They could’ve built up so many different reactions to grief to make the episode so impactful.
I’m not even OPPOSED to a short funeral montage as that’s how most shows like this do funerals. But they don’t make it mean anything by ignoring other characters.
I don’t mind Athena having more screen time at this moment but they should’ve done something more interesting and they didn’t. This show isn’t well written but it at the very least used to genuinely show characters dealing with difficult things in a believable manner. And they just don’t hear and that’s why this episode is upsetting.

I don't like that Eddie...A MAIN...wasn't even SHOWN during 8x15. He didn't need to have any dialogue, just an acknowledgement or something.
IK the actor was credited but I mean specifically Eddie Diaz. His character has (I feel) been sidelined after the stuff in Texas (which still isn't really resolved). And yes I understand why he is in Texas, but it's frustrating cause I really want to see Eddie and Chris put the work in to better themselves and to actually TALK ABOUT THE SITUATION. Do not twist my words, this has nothing to do with BUDDIE, just a Eddie Diaz girlie sad that's missing her man

Bobby dying to “work song” by hozier has to be one of the most heart breaking scenes I’ve ever witnessed in all of tv. That shit has been sobbing still. I can’t believe it’s real. Bucks scream… he’s losing everyone 😭
