online communities are so strange because people slip away so easily. you can be on here for years, folding people you've never met into the fabric of your daily life, and then they disappear, leaving only ghost posts scattered across tumblr behind. or their blog stays dormant, for weeks, months, years, until you're only still following them because you remember that they love sunflowers or they were kind to you when they didn't have to be or the last thing they posted was sad and raw and you still worry about them sometimes.

and sometimes they come back when you least expect it, years later, even, and there's this sudden rush of relief like there you are, there you are, even though you barely knew each other.

Man, so many Hop Along one's immediately spring to mind... probably 'liberate the blue' from Of My Brothers and the Bear. Its a short line, but it means a lot to me, and isn't too fragrantly depressing lol

I have only been to one live show, it was a free concert The Crane Wives put on, it was fun! They played some new (at the time) stuff, so it was cool to hear them before they released. Concerts typically cost money that I don't have though, so I am left yearning.

My brain is picking its way through this album, but Indian Summer is still going strong, one of my favorites from Control. The guitar is so good.

That's like such a big statement to make though lol. If I had to pick... maybe Painted Shut by Hop Along. Every song is so tragic, but some in a way that you cannot see it at first. Powerful Man and Sister Cities sound very bright, but the lyrics tell a different story. I Saw My Twin takes so many listens to feel the tragedy of belonging without alternative, but its impossible to ignore when you do. Well-dressed and Happy to See Me lean more into a somber sound without drudging along. Every song belongs with one another, and every song is its own story. IDK that probably doesn't make any sense though lol.
