                    THE FLAILING HAD been cute, and the sour look only added to their… let’s say  ‘ charm ’ , even if it was repugnant with this person in particular. koji gives a small laugh as kou whined in their usual boring voice.

                        “  sheesh, someone woke up on th’ wrong side of th’ bed, huh ?  so mean !!  ”   he, too, whines  –  except with a fake and exaggerated frown on his lips.   “  i didn’t even do anythin’, an’ yer already tryin’ ta kill me wit’ yer eyes alone !  ”

                        koji really didn’t know why the other voice actor had refused to talk to him since day one, but their jabs at him and the comments on how the two are practically rivals because of their similar ages and similar line of work from people around them, it was no wonder he had grown spiteful towards them. he puts his hand on kou’s head and ruffles their hair, as if they really were in an anime, an attempt to make them seem much smaller and less significant. leaning down close to get eye - to - eye again, now with his grin back and even more toxic than before, he spoke again with a lowered voice.

                        “  y’should be more nice t’ yer superiors, y’know ?  yer bein’ pretty disrespectful right now, as usual.  ”

maybe if their situation was different, kou and nishimura could have gotten along. maybe. they wouldn’t admit this fact to themselves, of course. in order for this to work, they had to convince themselves that nishimura deserved their ire, that he was a no-good fake bitch and kou was better off not wasting their time with him.

“superiors?” kou mocked. they dusted off their clothes, shooting nishimura a glare that could peel paint. “sure, i’ll be nice to my superiors. when i fucking find any.”

they left that scathing remark behind in their wake as they proceeded to walk past nishimura, pointedly ignoring his presence. they didn’t run-- that would be too embarrassing, even though they badly wanted to escape. they kept their walk brisk and pointed, nose turned up in the air, not acknowledging the boy behind them any further.

their wish was to leave their encounter at that. they doubted it would end there, unfortunately. when they were forced to work together, kou at least had an excuse to get the hell out of there right away. they had to play nice in front of the cameras, and when they didn’t, katou for once was useful in dragging them away. but here, at school? they were trapped.

        now as much as he was literally berating the other into apologizing, he didn’t quite expect them to actually apologize. it was a pleasant surprise, to say the least, and his own features softened ever so slightly.

         and it was safe to say that it wasn’t a reaction that most people would manage to get out of him. the yakuza was almost embarrassed by the whole ordeal, almost.

         "you could have done that in less of a smart ass way, but i’ll take it.“ another huff soon to follow. "and about damn time, too.”

kou straightened themselves up, coming out of their bow to give kuzuryuu a cheeky smirk.

{{ being a smartass is a defining feature of mine, }} they’re quick to type out on their tablet. {{ a shark can’t stop swimming for too long or else they’ll die, right? i’m sure you understand. }} whether that was a comment on kuzuryuu’s own sour attitude or not, kou wouldn’t clarify.

they took a step back, hands in their pockets. “see ya around, sunshine,” they said, their voice a shockingly accurate imitation of kuzuryuu’s own. “i’m sure you’ve got shit to do.”
