An interview with Professor A. Friendzone Theologian

Question: Does the friendzone exist

Professor A: Yes, the friendzone does exist but not in the way most people describe it

Question: Please explain

Professor A: Most people describe the friendzone as being the place women put thier male friends who want more than just friendship from them.

Question: Isn't that what the friendzone is? The place where guys who've done all they can for a woman and who have been nothing but nice are stuck waiting because the woman won't give them the sex they deserve.

Professor A: No, what you're describing is the Assholezone. This is the waiting room guys put themselves into when they think a woman owes them sex. It's the place where they pretend to be a friend while secretly hoping the woman will one day fuck them. This is based on the incorrect premise that a woman owes anyone who has been nice to them sex. A premise unfortunately repeated often in books and movies. The truth though is quite simple really. No one ever owes someone else sex because they were nice, supportive or helpful. Access to one's body is a gift given to another willingly, not a reward or prize to be earned or won

Question: So what is the friendzone?

Professor A: It's a place both men and women put themselves into by convincing themselves that given enough time someone's feelings for them will change. Unlike the Assholezone, the residents here are not looking for strictly sex or a FWB situation. They are usually hoping the love they feel will be someday be returned. Some hold on to this hope forever encouraged by the fact that sometimes people's feelings do change

Question: So it's okay to put yourself in the friendzone then, since what you want could happen?

Professor A: No, the friendzone is a place for those not being honest with themselves or the object of their affection. If you want more than just friendship from someone but are still willing to be just friends you must be entirely truthful with them and yourself. Don't pretend to be someone you are not. Let them know of your feelings, and let them decide if they can still be comfortable being your friend. If they cannot, say goodbye and move on If they can, then be what you claim to be. A friend. If someday they change their mind about how they feel about you, that's great but don't hold on to this hope nor let it guide your actions. Staying focused on one person you think you could have a future with despite what they may currently claim makes you blind to the ones who pass through your life with whom you actually can.

Question: So, it's okay to develop feelings for a friend as long as you're honest with them and yourself?

Professor A: Of course it is. Feelings are something we seldom can control so don't fight them. Our hearts will love who they love but you must remember and accept. So will theirs.

Question: What should I do if I think one of my friends has friendzoned themselves towards me, or has come right out and told me they want more when I don't

Professor A: Be honest with them and yourself. Let them know how you feel towards them and whether or not you feel comfortable still being their friend. It's not about hurting feelings, it's about doing what best for you just like in the reverse situation it's about them doing what's best for them. The one thing you should never do is use someone's feelings for you to use and control them or allow someone to do the same to you

Question: Anything else I should know.

Professor A: Yes. Having a friend is a great thing to have. Never abuse or use them. Do the things you do for them out of friendship never thinking any friend owes you anymore than the same friendship, trust and loyalty you give to them. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

She attends the funeral and her only comfort is that there are only two coffins, not three. Peter Pettigrew is dead, but there is no body to bury. Sirius Black is in Azkaban but deserves to be dead. Remus Lupin is alive, but you’d never be able to tell that from the look in his eye.
