I have fragmented memories of 2019. For some reason, there was this loud opinion that 2019 was shit, and 2020 was "the start of a new decade, a fresh start, full of love, compassion and solidarity for one another."
Well, God certainly heard us. And He gave us multiple opportunities throughout this year to become the people we swore we would be. Time and time again, in His infinite Love, he gave us the opportunity to love our neighbors, our enemies, and most importantly, to grow closer to Him.
And what did we do? We bitched, and moaned and complained about the "ruined, shitty year."
Many people feel entitled to blessings, they expect them to fall to their laps like Manna from the sky. But when many blessings come in disguise, we are quick to spat them and throw them away.
Oh, how we love to complain. How we love to be ungrateful.
Don't turn to creation, turn to the Creator! It's difficult to love our neighbors as ourselves, yes. Even our enemies. But this world is our ship, our home is heaven. When God asks us, "How much did you loved?" what is going to be our answer?

This is day 1 of officially covering my hair.
After studying and researching and listening to other Christian women’s stories and different perspectives, I’ve come to my own conclusion. It’s about modesty and it’s about respecting God and his creation. And putting God first not only in your heart but in how you show your outward self. Modesty is not just on the outside it’s something that’s on the inside as well. It is OK to be beautiful because that’s how us women were made to be. And our hair is made for our glory. It talks about covering your hair especially when you are married because it shows respect to the husband and it shows respect towards God. But it also shows respect when you are praying to him and you are praying and prophesying in front of others and the angels. It’s something that’s a choice for every individual and what they want to do but it’s important that we take into consideration showing respect towards God and our bodies through modesty.
First Corinthians chapter 11 is a good place to start researching for yourselves. It is not a part of the salvation but it is something to consider as a Christian.
As Christians we are supposed to look different and stand apart from the world and not to blend in with it but to stand out from everyone else and to show them love, forgiveness and kindness. And this is something as well that we should consider.

This was my first time trying to cover my hair about two years ago.
I wasn’t really sure about doing it but I wanted to see how it would feel to do it and go out in public wearing it. I went to the movie theater that day (where I had worked at the time) to go see a movie with my dad. When I went there I obviously got some stares and attention especially since it was red.
Later when I went to the concession to get a fork, a co-worker of mine said to me,
“I thought you were white, not Ethiopian.”
He was a very critical person who was atheist and didn’t understand the religious meaning behind it whatsoever. I let him get the better of me and at the end of the night the scarf was slipping and I took it off with my self-esteem a little lower and embarrassed.
Although I hadn’t attempted after that, I still studied the Bible intently trying to understand it the best I could.
