how far i’ll go?

Hello. 

I’m (trying to be) back... with a lot of questions on my mind. A lot of emotions to feel. A bucket full of frustration to surpass. 

But I guess, that’s really the art of life? Challenges are necessary for us to feel strong, for us to be strong. Because if we could get everything in this life with a snap of a finger, everything would be so easy, so plain, and so boring. 

Life allows us to experience and fight through these challenges for us to become better versions of ourselves. A lot of people would say that challenges could either break us or make us, and yes, I firmly agree with that statement. But despite being made whole or being broken by these challenges, there will always be this little light of hope that will whisper and encourage us to try things again and this time with God. Well, these are the thoughts of a 17 year old teenager who (obviously) enjoys to live her life with thrill. For now, she couldn’t see where she would stand a few months from now, but she entrusts everything to God the almighty.

MEDIA LITERACY: THE KEY TO CHANGING WORLD

As the world is quickly changing due to the technological advances, social media nowadays have become extremely popular components of our everyday lives. Social media allows us to communicate with the people around the world. It allows us to build and maintain relationships without worrying about the distance that separates us from the other people.

From the way people communicate, pay, exchange insights, shop and entertain, the world becomes more dependent on digital platforms and technology. It is evident that the convergence of media and technology changes the way we see about the world. With this, it is important to know that the ability to read the printed word is not enough in this globalizing society, thus, what we truly need is the ability to critically interpret and analyze the powerful messages that we see across the online world.

In other words, media and technology demands media literacy. Media literacy is a new kind of literacy that paves the way to master the skills required in a constantly changing world.

With the number of voices participating on the social networks, awareness of the use of media platforms is acquiring crucial importance. The use of social media is changing our lives in a meaningful way. Anyone can be part of the social media and can contribute to its impact. It is an avenue full of potential and influence because it allows the people across the world to form connections and access information. That’s why we should be mindful of the way we behave in social media and we should be more careful on the things that we believe in.

MISS BNHS 2017

First month palang ng January, naging busy na ako. More like productive, kasi guys... Nagpaka-bakla ako nung mga araw na ‘yun?! Charot! Kasi ‘yung time na ‘yun, Miss Bayambang National High School talaga kinaharap ko. HAHA.

Ito ‘yung busy - busyhan talaga kasi ‘di ako nakapagpa-adjust ng braces ko, at sobrang awkward kasi black ‘yung rubbers ko. I KENNAT. HAHAHA.

So, ayun nga po ano, naging 1st Runner Up ang lola nyo kahit papano. Tas, nakuha ko rin Minor Award na Miss Globe and ‘yung sa Popularity Contest. Kasi parang hindi din talaga ako makapag-decide kung sasali talaga ako, tas ayun, biglang nakita ko na lang sarili ko na sumali na pala ako. Dejk. Pero alam niyo yung feels ko nun? Sabi ko, Lord, kahit top 5 lang, at kahit makasagot ako ng maayos, okay na sa akin ‘yun. Bahala na po kayo sa placement. And tadaaaaah! Wala akong regrets kasi nag - surrender na ako sa will ni Lord, bago pa iannounce ‘yung winners. Hehe.

FEBRUARY 2017

Uhm, walang masyadong ganap ng February, pero for sure, minamaximize namin ‘yung oras naming magkakasama ---

Ito ang aking 2nd term bilang SSG Comelec Chairman, at as usual, nailabas na naman ‘yung best side ko when it comes to leadership. At sobrang na - challenge din ako kasi nung una, gusto nila ako patakbuhin bilang isang SSG Officer, kahit na anong position daw. Tas napag - isip - isip ko, parang ayaw ko. Okay na ako sa SSG Comelec. Pamilya ko ito eh. At namimiss ko na sila. (Alam ko sa mga Grade 10 SSG Comelec, may utang pa akong libre sa inyo, natatandaan ko ‘yan, diba sabi ko ipag - anniversary natin? Haha.)

So that’s just the overview of my 2017, and guys, sorry sa mga typo, wrong grammar, etc. Ipproofread ko ito kapag may time. Naks. Proofread. Sobrang rush ko lang nito na ginawa. At nakakainis kasi 2nd day ko pa ngayon LOL. Basta guys, thank you thank you thank you ng sobra! 

Thank you sa mga taong laging andyan na gumagabay sa akin, sumasabay sa kalokohan ko, nandyan sa tuwing feeling ko worthless ako, at sa mga taong napag-kikwentuhan ko, salamat.

Sana makasama ko pa kayo sa 2018, more memories pa sana. Ngayon ko lang sasabihin ito, pero guys, wala akong regrets na hindi ako lumipat for SHS, thank you sa mga taong nakasalamuha ko. Kayo ang may dahilan kung bakit ko nasabi ‘yan. Sobrang daming new experiences, sobrang daming unexpected na mga taong naka-close, basta sobrang thankful ako! My heart is full, 2017! Thank you for bringing out the best and the worst in me.

 2018, I’m ready! I’ll do my best, and I know, God will do the rest.

FLOWER POWER

While I was listening to Ed Sheeran’s Supermarket Flowers, I can’t help but reminisce our #FAMventures in the A - MAZE - ing Sunflower Maze in Tayug, Pangasinan. 

One summer afternoon, our family decided to go to the Basilica of Our Lady of Manaoag. That was just the plan. And everything went unexpected. I can still remember that time, where my Ate used the application Waze to track our way to the Sunflower Maze because the only thing we knew was the town (Tayug) where it was located, not the exact place. So we had a lot of stop overs on the way, asking some random people for guides and specific directions.

When we finally got there, I was really amazed by the Sunflower Maze. Despite the unrestrained heat of the sun, we still managed to make our picture perfect poses as we captured a lot of pictures. The place was really for nature lovers like me! I heard that the Sunflower Maze was temporarily closed for now because they are making some renovations, but I can’t wait to go back there! 

Trips like these are really something. They are spontaneous and memorable. As the saying really goes, “Sometimes the best adventures are unplanned.”

MONDAY CURRENTLY | 01

It feels good to be back! After being hiatus here in my tumblr account, I can finally say that I am back! And it really feels soooooooooo good! 

Well, I’m still active in my social media accounts especially in YouTube. ‘Cause I can say that I’ve already joined and entered VIDEO BLOGGING... I can’t find ways to escape it... yet. I’m actually having fun. But these past few days, we’ve been very busy because there were lots of different activities and performance tasks that we have to submit and accomplish... 

But... Guess what?! I feel extra grateful to our 21st Century Literature subject, really... As in, NO JOKE... ‘Cause I think I wouldn’t go back here if not because of it... I think it’s also a good sign and it’s an enough reason to make a NEW BLOG ENTRY.

POST-BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

 August 20, 2016

(exactly a week after my 15th birthday, I found myself typing my “nobela” slash appreciation post in my laptop, because #surprise kuno, happened a while ago)

Mga naalala ko pagka-gising ko kanina:

- Birthday ni Demi Lovato

- Half-day papasok sa MTAP

At wala naman nang iba...

Pero... nakikita at nafi-feel kong sobrang weird ng araw na ito dahil wala lang jk, instinct siguro o dahil talaga sa pagkaka - “wrong sent” daw ni Mary Lou kay Mama.

Habang nagpi-prepare ako para sa MTAP, may nagtext sa phone ni Mama na sobrang familiar na number, at si Mary Lou daw yun.

Tinatanong niya kung pwede daw bang mag-opening prayer sa opening program [mamaya] si Mama.

At dahil pakielamera ako, ni-replyan ko ng, “Opening program para sa? Christien ito. Haha.”

Tas nag-reply naman siya na na-wrong sent lang daw siya kaya hinayaan ko na lang din.

Medyo naging normal na ang araw na iyon sa MTAP. Normal dahil:

Normal na kasabay ko na maglakad si Princess; siya para sumakay sa downtown, at ako, pauwi ng bahay.

Pero real talk, tinatamad na talaga ako mag-lakad nun, konti nalang sasakay na ako sa tricycle pero nag-lakad pa rin ako. LOL.

Hindi ko alam na minamanmanan pala kami nun sa bahay nila Mary Lou, parte daw yun sa plano nila.

Tas nung tanghali... eto na... *drum rolls* LOL

Ayun... tinatamad talaga akong sumama kila Mama kung saan man sila pumunta dahil inaantok na talaga ako.

Pero pinilit pa rin nila ako, kaya sumama na ako, sabi ko, “Basta uwi tayo agad.”

Aaand “Basta uwi tayo agad” means sumama si Christien Artacho nang:

- Naka-tsinelas

- Hindi nakapag-bihis

- At hindi nagsuklay

Sabi nila, kila Tita Lumen daw kakain ng Lunch pero napansin kong nilagpasan lang nila yung bahay sa Boni tas papunta kami ng Ariel & Fe.

Sabi ko pa sa isip ko nun, “Ay taray naman, sa Ariel & Fe ang pa-despedida.”

Hindi ko tinanong kila Mama kung ba’t hindi sa Boni kakain dahil inaantok na talaga ako nun.

Pero JUSKOPO(!!!) Hindi despedida party, kundi SURPRISE PARTY... FOR ME AS IN!!! (okay, kalma)

So ayun... 

Maraming salamat sa lahaaat nang pumunta, presence nyo palang siyempre, na-touch na ako, kasi yung iba, nagp-practice para sa Sabayang Pagbigkas, yung iba may practice ng para sa mga practicum, etc. Pero pumunta pa rin kayo, Maraming Salamat!

Lalo na sa mga nag-skip ng 1st day sa MTAP, para lang maging successful ‘tong ginawa nila, at nag-sleep over pa! Salamat ng sobra. 

Hindi ko na kayo iisa-isahin pa, kilala niyo na kung sino kayo, special mention nalang kila: Cherry, Mary Lou, Ellyn, Princess, at Ayessa na umiyak sa pag-bibigay ng message (LOL) Pati sa emcee na si Dianne. 

Thank you rin kila Mama, Daddy, Yz and Tep (kahit na si Tep ay laging *insert* sa photo nalang) dahil andyan sila lagi for me. Kahit na sobrang drama ko sa buhay. LOL.

Ayuuuun, thank you sa gifts, letter, messages, etc, na-appreciate ko lahat-lahat! Maraming maraming maraming salamat!

At syempre, kay Lord, na never  tayong pinabayaan. 

Hala umabot ka dito? HAHA. Thank you uli, sa pagbabasa :)

Hey person who are reading this, I know things are not as easy as we wish them were, but whatever you’re going through, things will get better. Be nice to yourself. Be nice to the next.

"You'll be okay."

"You've got this."

Let me guess- you've heard these quotes, plus many others, about a million times. Right? Sure, encouraging words from loved ones or even strangers can help cheer you up a bit. But sometimes it just takes more than that.

Listen here, punk. You're freaking awesome. Okay? What you're going through now makes you feel like it's the end of the world. But I'm here to tell you that it's not. I don't doubt that others have told you the same thing, but don't be hard-headed or pessimistic when you hear that. Because it's so true. Throughout your life, no matter what age, you're going to go through some rough stuff. Your heart is going to break into so many pieces, you'll think you're dying. You're going to lose friends that you thought would be in your life forever.

People around you will die. Your finances will not always be what you want them to be. You're going to fail a class. You're going to get caught doing something you shouldn't. You're going to go through a lot, and you're going to feel like you don't have a purpose on this earth or you just don't want to live anymore. Listen to me when I tell you that that's normal. That's called being human. That's called living.

Every single thing you go through in life will be a lesson. The key to learning these lessons is to change your way of thinking. When you do something you regret or something that simply kills you inside, go ahead and cry. Seriously, let it out. Don't ever bottle those emotions.

Screaming and crying to relieve grief or anger is healthy. However, after your grieving process, look back at the events that occurred and learn from it. Would you do it again? If not, then make sure it doesn't happen a second time.

Still reading? Well that means you haven't given up yet, and for that I am so proud of you. If reading articles on the internet still doesn't help you, here are a few ways to relieve stress in your life and to help you move on from whatever is making you feel like your world is falling apart.

1. Leave your room

Get up and hang out with someone. Whether that "someone" be a friend, spouse, pet, grandmother, etc., the simple presence of another being is mentally and physically healthy and has proved to be a mood-booster. You don't even have to do anything. Just be there. Watch tv. Play a card game. Talk.

2. Take a bubble bath

For real. Take a bubble bath. Not only is it one of the most relaxing things on earth, but if you add a dash of epsom salt to your warm water, it pulls toxins and bacteria from your body. So fill up that tub, add those bubbles, lay back and relax.

3. Read a book

I don't care if you like reading or not. Just do it. There truly are many amazing books out there. If you find the right one, it's easy to get lost in it. Therefore, an escape from reality. Although it won't be a permanent solution, a temporary escape is better than none.

4. Travel

Go on a trip. Whether it be alone or with friends, why not run away for awhile? You could go on a cross-country road trip, travel to an entirely new country, or simply head to the opposite side of your own state. Trust me when I say that everyone needs a getaway once in awhile.

I hope you're feeling somewhat better after reading this, and will take some of my tips into consideration. I could go on and on about things to make you feel more content with your life, but I truly believe that in order for you to take the first step, you must put that phone down, get off of your computer, stop reading this, and live your life to the fullest. Give it everything you've got. You're not alone, kid. I've been where you are. You're going to get through this and come out on the other side stronger than you ever knew was possible.

Malikhaing paraan na nakapag-hahatid ng kabutihan sa lahat.

Nariyan ang regalo na pagsusulat, pagpipinta, pagkanta, paglalaro at iba pa. Kailangan lang natin pagtuunan ng pansin ang mga bagay-bagay. At tiyak na mayroon at mayroon tayong patutunguhan sa mundo.
