okay listen LISTEN this is my favourite episode of the show, my comfort episode, "a little slice of kevin", the one episode that i keep returning to like a favourite old song, THE most destiel-coded episode imo

dean thinking he sees cas outside of a stormy window and then explaining to sam with his tortured-lover expression how he tried to get cas out of purgatory and the guilt is tearing him apart

dean's lost expression when cas returns and he's relieved but confused and trying to pretend he's ok

the heartbroken post-breakup conflict with dean saying "i did not leave you" and cas replying "you think this was your fault?"

and then dean being absolutely gutted that castiel CHOSE to leave him because cas didn't think he deserved to be saved

it's so angsty, and the pining and the heartbreak ugh 8.07 will be a number i could get tattooed on me tbh because it holds such meaning for me and this ship this episode is everything

Ok so I just watched 8x16 where it ended with Dean praying to cas and saying “you know I don’t like praying cuz it’s a whole lot like begging” yada yada yada, this just reminded me of the fact that he also prayed to Castiel EVERY NIGHT in purgatory. So in deans mind he wasn’t just praying, he was canonically BEGGING Cas to come back to him. Anyway, how was YOUR day?
