This post is a bit different from what I usually share here, but I can’t stay silent in the face of the crisis unfolding within my Latino community and among other immigrant communities. The Trump administration’s surge in ICE raids demands our attention and action.
The recent ICE raids taking place across the country are deeply disturbing, unethical, unlawful, and inhumane. These actions include the use of violence, the disruption of legal proceedings, and the detainment of immigrants who are lawfully seeking asylum and going through proper legal channels to secure citizenship in this country. Denying individuals their right to due process goes against the very principles this country claims to uphold.
I urge you to contact your local representatives and demand they take a stand against the Trump administration’s immigration policies and the violent, unconstitutional actions of ICE. What’s happening is not only morally wrong, it’s a fucking betrayal of the values and legal protections that should be guaranteed to everyone in this country, and it is a dangerous precedent to set that people who are not citizens of this country but are in this country have no rights at all.
If you see an ICE raid or see your neighbors or members of your community being questioned or attempted to be taken to be detained, stand as a witness. Record. Serve as an observer. Take down names and license plates, badge numbers, anything. Offer to serve as a legal observer for your community members - literally anything to give them a chance.

SCRIPT FOR WRITING YOUR OFFICIALS UNDER THE CUT
Dear [official name],
I am writing to urge you to reject the proposed budget moving through the reconciliation process that would prioritize mass deportations and jailing of immigrants over critical investments in families and communities. The $350 billion proposed budget for militarized enforcement and mass deportations would tear families apart while slashing essential programs like SNAP, Medicaid, and student aid that millions of people rely on.
Instead of investing in education, healthcare, and infrastructure, this budget would fund immigration raids in schools, churches, and hospitals — creating fear and instability in our communities. It would also fund the deportation of DACA recipients, farmworkers, and childcare providers, which would devastate local economies and harm businesses.
As your constituent, I urge you to reject this proposal and instead pass a budget that invests in strengthening our communities — one that provides stable support and childcare for working families, expands early childhood education, creates affording housing, and increases access to health care. Our tax dollars should build opportunity, not fund family separation.
Please stand against this harmful budget and instead fight for policies that support families, strengthen local economies, and ensure everyone has the resources to thrive.
Your Constituent,
[Your Name]

pride month psa from a librarian!
if your local public library celebrates pride month, let them know you support that. if they've posted a picture of their display on social media, leave a like or a comment. if you see it in person, leave a comment card. if there's a program, even if you can't attend it, find some way to contact the library director to say you think it's great they're having something.
people protest pride in all kinds of ways. they don't want queer books where people can find them. community support where library leadership can see it makes all the difference. be as vocal as you can.

#three but I’m only close with two of them#and they’re both younger than me#I am not competitive#especially against my siblings#the only thing I can say I’m ’competitive’ about is my academics#and it’s not about being better than them but just being a role model#I’d say I’m an average student though so idk how that holds up lol
