Funnily enough, my brain wants to do more detailed pictures, but they always make me run out of steam midway through. And then it becomes a chore to finish the piece. I'm going to play with a couple of styles to see what is detailed enough to make lizard brain happy but simple enough to actually finish the piece.

Personal rant about life without a car

I truly cannot express how different my life became when I lost access to a car five years ago. Before my partner and I drove everywhere, an hour or two hours drive meant nothing to us. It was honestly a daily occurrence due to work. We didn't have to rely on anyone and as a result we were more confident, independent, but still sociable because when we knew we could leave a function at anytime, it was more enticing to go.

But post car life meant my entire life became digital. I do not live in a walkable city and since we moved at the beginning of COVID, the mentality of 'home is the only safety' became more solidified. We became isolated. Every need or want was delivered. Every physically attended event twice the cost due to Uber costs. Almost every social interaction was on discord. All my understanding of the world was funneled to me through social media. Even my job became remote and I can't fathom going to a brick and mortar now. And this new digital life has really harmed me, physically and mentally even more than the 80+ hours on my feet and the ridiculous commutes I had back in Texas. Who I was five years ago is completely unrecognizable. All because the US doesn't have walkable cities. Not to mention the events between 2020 and now on a grander stage that eroded my trust in the public. And very few people really understand what this experience is like which is even more isolating.

I already know this digital conversion of my life will be a long road to recover from. Eventually I will get a car again and it'll be possible to reenter society in a physical capacity. But at least one silver lining of this experience is a new appreciation for the physical world. Having physical copies of media, of going to a coffee shop instead of ordering it for delivery, even being able to pick up an item or two at the grocery store without having to meet the minimum cost of a delivery. I want to be physically present again instead of a ghost.

There's no real point to this post, just voicing my frustration and hopes for the future into the void. Maybe others can relate.
