Another Monday morning, another giant of my youth passed away and, thanks to Spotify Discover, another classic I didn't know I loved until I just heard it. This one's for Terry; Who Knows Where The Time Goes? by Fairport Convention. Who knows indeed?

I'm currently listening to Ondas Sonoras by Ed Mitta: It's a Brazilian guy singing a Steely Dan tribute in Portuguese. Your Sunday will be better because of it

Thanks to the magic of Spotify's Discover I'm listening to North Circular by Real Lies; it's like a North London version of The Streets' Weak Become Heroes and you need to have it in your life.

Ladies and gentlemen, Maggie May performed by Rod Stewart on Top of the Pops. Not just because it's a great song, but because that's the legendary John Peel pretending to play mandolin. Which is nice.

I'm guessing that, like the Stone Roses movie that I never got to see, this won't make it to cinemas in Sydney (or if it does I'll miss it entirely), Probably for the best, as it would probably bring me to tears, as seeing them here did earlier this year.

One way to stay cool on the blisteringly hot first day of summer is to watch a documentary about one of the coolest bands of the 70s: Big Star. And, so, following that here's a song that always makes me think of a cool summer's night, and is possibly one of the best rock & roll songs ever, in so much as it reminds us all of the tortured brilliance of being young.

One of the best records of the 90s, the Happy Mondays third and finest album is 25 years old. Which makes me feel old. "Son, I'm thirty..."

Just watching A Jimi Hendrix documentary and remembering how many great tracks he made, beyond the obvious ones. So here's a perfect tune for a wet Friday afternoon: "Bold as Love" from Axis: Bold As Love

Because Christmas doesn't mean we have to massacre great old tunes. John Lewis really need to make a new ad, instead of just remaking the old one and sacrificing another indie classic each time.
