RainWing named Newt discovers gravity and academic suffering

THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT, NEWT!!! You made me fail most of my physics exam AAAHHHHH.

…Anyway, I don’t actually have school right now (though I did stumble through physics a few months ago). I still can’t move on after not knowing which law inertia was. Like, J don’t care what number law it is, I already know if you push something, it moves. If you don’t, it doesn’t. I know that Newt. T-T

To cope, I turned him into a RainWing.

Why RainWing instead of a NightWing (who are supposed to be the smart ones)? Because expect the unexpected. It’s way more interesting and inspiring (for me) if a dragon from a tribe known for being lazy and chill is the one who discovers calculus and physics.

Lore: This RainWing version of Newt is now the Father of Physics and Calculus, and the main source of my academic suffering. His story begins when an apple fell on his head while he was reading one of Starflight’s scrolls. That one fateful bonk to this Rainwonk gave him the idea to ask: Why do things fall? He became obsessed. Locked himself in his little treehouse. His friends left him, unable to follow him into the depths of gravitational nerdyness. And the worst part? He liked it.

It’s a long drive from your workplace in the city to your quiet home in the sticks. The sun went down around an hour ago, but it’s already pitch black out. Your headlights don’t seem to illuminate enough even with high beams, and you’re feeling sleepy following the twists and turns of the forested road. Speed limit: 50.

You’ve been this way thousands of times, but every night it’s made unfamiliar. You round another corner and suddenly see an enormous long-legged shape standing frozen before you, its eyes blazing white. You slam on the brakes and- CRASH! You pull over to inspect the damage to your car and the animal. You wince at the smashed windshield and dented fender, but your heart pangs with guilt at the sight of the creature. It’s breathing heavily and its limbs are twisted in unnatural ways… but it doesn’t look quite right for a deer. It has too many limbs, and its eyes are slitted and predatory. Instead of matted fur, its body is covered in thick scales. Its broken legs end in claws the size of your hand.

Whatever guilt you had couples with a fear as paralyzing as your headlights when the creature struggles to get up. In the polarizing spotlight, you get a glimpse of just how enormous its wings are. A creature so alien and yet at the same time so familiar in legends and pop culture that you can immediately recognize it. Its throat glows a dangerous orange and it opens its maw wider than any deer should with teeth that are way too sharp. The brimstone smell of flames hits your nose, and you dash back to your car. That is not a bear, not a bobcat, not a coyote or wolf, and that is NOT a deer.

I'm most proud of the wings and antennae! They turned out perfectly, much to my surprise. What I like the least is how splotchy the texture/color looks in some parts. I must have duplicated a mesh on accident while modeling, but they're merged, so I couldn't do anything. Ah, well. Pretty good for my first project with the program, right?!

School art project! Attempted using Blender for the first time in order to create a scene of my Castaway oc, Aloe, in highbeams.

Inspired by found footage and the Starflesh aesthetic, I thought my beginner-level modeling capabilities would lend well to the horror and uncanniness of driving at night and an animal suddenly crossing your path that isn't what it's supposed to be.

When making the pattern, I originally made it on my typical art program: Autodesk Sketchbook. However, I failed to take into account how pixel dimensions scaled up, and so when the pattern was applied to the blanket, the pixels were disappointingly visable.

I found the limits of working on my phone and learned to have the foresight of using the largest possible pixel dimensions for things like this.

I had to painstakingly trace the design on stinky Adobe Illustrator to make a vector image.

Natura World Map

I've been really busy. Finally, it's summer, though! I've been working mostly on world building projects, and this is part of one of them! This is a map for one of my alien worlds known as Natura, which is a lot like Earth due to magic shenanigans. Natura is the planet Cinder is from!

If you're wondering why it looks kinda similar to Animal Jam's map, it's because that's what my project started as (and is the main reference for how I create maps in general). I made up new lands for Animal Jam Classic back in middle school (along with a whole massive binder of other fanmade content). When my interests started drifting from the game, I developed a world of my own reusing my concepts.

This map took FOREVER to draw, OMG.

OMG ANIMAL JAM CLASSIC UPDATE!!!??

No, these are just old edits I'm really proud of. Although they're still a little rough around the edges if you know where to look, I tried my best to emulate the style as close as possible. This includes the writing style! (Not just the font!) I noticed I can easily tell it's an edit because the language doesn't sound like Wildworks, so I tried mimicking them to what I think is a satisfactory result.

Many of the assets came from Animal Jam Archives.

His name is Hemlock!

He's captain of a crew of space pirates, which includes Dainty, Aloe, Kane, and more. Hemlock cares deeply for his crew, to the point where he acts like a dad. Terrible jokes included. However, Hemlock does still take his fair share of risks so the pirates can remain competitive.

His cybernetic enhancement grants him the use of retractable drone wings to get others' attention. He is the size of a large cat.

... though Hemlock is not a cat. He's a Felinz!

Felinz have electrical abilities and gliding wings similar to a flying squirrel. I'll make a species sheet someday...

Another Naturan OC! Her name is Heartstone!

It's hard to explain the magic system with just one character bio. Natura has a massive cluster of "mana crystals" called The Core. I put quotations here because they're not called that, but The Core is made of magical crystal.

Heartstone is the guardian of The Core, and being in its proximity keeps her healthy and youthful. While Naturans do live a couple hundred years on average, Heartstone is thousands of years old. She looks old, but not THAT old.

Heartstone is not her actual name. Her name is Mesa, but she swapped bodies with her sister, Heartstone, while trying to use her powers. Her sister doesn't know how to use Mesa's powers, so they've been stuck in each other's bodies for hundreds of years. Mesa keeps the name Heartstone to match the body, and her sister is now Mesa. Confusing, I know.

Our main gal Calamity. Daughter of brightmind and silverscales. Her father recently passed along with her grandfather Darkstone in a mysterious explosion.

Her mother is extremely superstitious. She won't walk under ladders, cross paths with a black cat, place two mirrors facing each other. Etc. While she won't exactly tell her daughter Calamity knows she believes her to be bad luck.

Calamity's life has been boring as she stays in the background going along with whatever her mother wanted. Her grandfather was her best friend for a long time. Now Silvescales is wanting her to marry which is something Calamity hadn't even imagined. Good thing she has 3 mysterious robots to distract her... hey wait-

Muskeg the cyborg. Has bits n pieces from all tribes. Most recent piece being a mechanical eye from a nightwing. He doesn't exactly know why he keeps loosing bits n pieces of his body, he just knows he's constantly replacing them. A gut from seawings, back leg from icewings, heart from the rainwings, an arm from the mudwings, and he used to have wings from skywings... but those go for a lot of gold in the sandwing kingdom.

Overall the story will be following these two as they work toward the mystery behind these viruswing creation and hopefully stopping the hungry creatures from destroying all of dragonkind

I only did this version due because I was debating on doing two different things

So I had the jamblr server like choose for me

And you know, I regret asking but I love the final product

I wasn't as confident in the alphas tbh, especially them looking away, since I always suck at that type of position

I was also made at Graham, Liza, Peck, and Cosmo for a bit,they made me struggle

If you're asking "why is Peck crouched?" Well uh listen

I didn't want her standing up like she normally does, I want her to be in her second attack phase, where she would be ready to pounce at any moment

Plus I thought it would be funny to have a divide of standing animals and four legs

"why is it raining?" Idk, thought it would be cool and help me practice effect +rain

"was it worth it?"

No.
