RWBY Beyond Predictions: Ilia
Spoiler Warning: Spoilers for V4-9, The RWBY V9 animatic and the Two Team CVFY novels
Who is our final POV character?
I have given this some thought and while seeing Raven ahead of V10 outside the Animatic would be nice I feel it's more pressing that we see some focus on the new Mistral/White Fang coalition. So, seeing the state of this new alliance through Ilia's eyes could be real interesting.
Tumblr media
After all this is the third iteration of the White Fang Illia has been apart of. I imagine this will showcase Ilia's journey after parting with Blake in V6 to presumably arriving in Vacuo.
Why will the White Fang/Mistrial alliance be in Vacuo?
Out of the three kingdom so far Mistrial is the only kingdom to survive Salem's plans relatively unharmed. While, Haven academy is without a headmaster and there is a shortage of adult huntsmen I think helping Vacuo will take priority over rebuilding.
Tumblr media
Given the end of V9 and the Animatic I think it's a pretty safe guess that after seeing Ruby's broadcast and calling Ilia, Ghira mobilized a force of White Fang and Mistral forces to leave Haven and head for Vacuo.
As a some what unrelated closing aside I'm hoping for Ilia to go full Gay Panic when in Vacuo 😉

RWBY Beyond Predictions: Vale
Spoiler warning: This post contains spoilers for V7-9 of RWBY and RWBY V9 Animatic as well as the two team CVFY Novels
Last we saw of Cinder was when she left the site of a destroyed Atlas/Mantle with Salem. At the time I thought the two of them were heading straight for Vacuo.
Tumblr media
However, the RWBY V9 Animatic paints a different picture. According to Oobleck and Port who have recently fled Vale, Salem has set up shop in the vicinity of Vale and the city is gone. The usage of the word gone rather then destroyed is interesting to me. It paints the picture that while presumably waiting for Tyrian to prepare Vacuo for their arrival and locate the Summer Maiden, Salem and presumably Cinder attended to other matters in Vale.
Why are Salem and Cinder in Vale?
I think It is a safe assumption that they returned to Vale at the very least to search for the allusive Crown relic. Another possible reason is because the situation in Vale had changed. Salem has a mysterious informant in the area of Beacon who may have caught wind of something that Cinder and Salem needed to investigate on their own.
Who will be our POV Character?
This is a bit of a toss up between Cinder and Salem for me. It would be insightful to get into Cinder's head now that she has for want of a better word exercised the demons of her past. On the other hand so much of Salem's goals are still shrouded in mystery. We think she wants to end the world but are Ozpin and Tyrian reliable narrators?
The case for why both Ozpin and Tyrian are unreliable narrators for understanding Salem's endgame
Tyrian:
1.) Tyrian reveres Salem as a kind of death goddess to be worshiped and is probably working under an assumption that supports that
2.) If Cinder is the only one who knows the truth about Salem's true aims, I find it kind of hard to believe she would consider Team Remnant's attempts to stop the end of the world as misguided
Ozpin:
1.) Ozpin hasn't had a heart-to-heart with Salem since before the messy "divorce" and that was before the Great War so quite possibly well over 80 prior to V1.
2.) Due to a combination of the GOL's words and his own experiences Ozpin can only see the very worst in Salem so assuming her goal is the end of the world is kinda a given at this point.
3.) It's quite possible that Ozpin views Salem wanting to end the world as a foil to his own desires of stopping Salem and being granted eternal rest by the Gods.
Why not Tai or Glynda?
I think the writers have planted the seed that Glynda is MIA but are in no real hurry to confirm what happened to her. As for Tai I think he is another end game character who's involvement is going to be kept close to the chest.
Is the Crown in Vale?
I highly doubt it. However, for the sake of playing devils advocate lets say it is in Vale what would that accomplish for the story? Well other then shortening the series by one to three volumes not much comes to mind. Sure, this could make it so Vacuo is the final arc but why make a mad dash to to wrap up what remains of the story in just one to two volumes?

RWBY Beyond Predictions: Robyn
This is the second of what will probably be a four part series of posts. Before diving into prediction/theory crafting part of this post I will be linking a hopefully working link to part 1.
Spoiler Warning: As per the previous post there will be spoilers regarding the events of Volume 7-9 + the V9 Animatic and possibly the two Team CVFY novels.
Now with that out of the way onto the burning question regarding what Robyn focused episode might be like
Tumblr media
Why have Robyn be our second POV character?
Besides the fact that I'm a big Happy Huntress fan and love getting more lore/screen time with them, I think there is a lot that the end of V8 left unsaid regarding Robyn. We see her reaction to the destruction of Atlas and Mantle but not much else. So, giving her a focus for this new miniseries to set up how she begins to process the loss of her hometown will both be helpful for the audience going into V10.
Why not have Qrow be our POV character?
We have already had Qrow get quite a bit of focus in the V9 Animatic. So all having Qrow being the POV focus would be is to fill the blanks between The Final Word and the V9 Animatic. I don't think it's as necessary as setting up Robyn's "Mantle is gone now what?" arc.
Are Maria and Pietro dead?
Considering that Amity Colosseum is in Vacuo something that was was confirmed before the full animatic was released I think it's a fairly safe bet that Robyn and Company will find them alive before making their way to Vacuo.

RWBY Beyond Predictions: Emerald
So, having not made a RWBY post in some time and wanting to get some thoughts down before RWBY Beyond air, I have decided to make a prediction post series. This is going to be focused more toward what loose ends/set up I think need to be addressed before V10.
Spoiler Warning: This post contains spoilers for volume 8-9, the full RWBY V9 Animatic and the two Team CVFY novels
1.) Setting up Emerald's Personnel Arc in the Vacuo Arc
Tumblr media
The Full RWBY V9 Animatic did a really nice job I feel of setting up the stakes and personal arcs of key characters. However, one omission I'd like to see addressed before V10 is what is Emerald's personal arc going to be like.
Now I think it's pretty safe to say that there is going to be some friction between Emerald and characters who haven't seen her since V3. I do not think it is a stretch to think Team CVFY has some strong opinions about Emerald and winning their trust is going to take time. There is also a case to be made that Emerald share blame in Nolan being the Sole survivor of Team BRNZ so there is going to be tension there as well.
There are two other possible Emerald plot point I am keeping on eye out for. The first is who she is without/beyond Cinder. So much of Emerald's identity is wrapped up around Cinder and it pairs well with how Nora is going through something similar.
The other plot point is how much if any processing has Emerald done regarding her decision to effectively defect has she done? Now I imagine in the time since V8 ended there has been multiple schools of thought regarding this. Did Emerald defect because of Cinder, Salem or a combination of the two? What does Emerald think about Cinder now?
These are thing Emerald is going to have to sort through that I don't think we as the audience have an answer for yet.

Hazbin Hotel: The Three Angels
So, One interesting possible character dynamic Hazbin Hotel S2 could run with is that of Lute, Sera and Emily.
Now that her CO is dead Lute has some big shoes to fill which could be undermined by the fact that Sera has a major scandal on her hands and might want to keep Lute on a tighter leash.
One way this could happen is that Lute now finds herself juggling her duties as leader of the exorcists with having to both protect Emily while also keeping an eye on her for Sera.
Now I feel if Emily's relationship with Sera isn't already strained it will be in the not too distant future. Keeping Emily from falling by keeping her isolated from the politics of Haven (Which is honestly going to fail spectacularly).
I don't imagine Emily is going to be pleased that Sera is assigning her a "bodyguard" who will enforce a restriction on her freedom. As for what Emily thinks of Lute personally I don't think she will down right hate her so much as not understand where Lute is coming from.

okay so there's a lot of things that stick out about Midnight but here's just one
when Cinder first gets to the Glass Unicorn, the shock collar is already there waiting on the counter—
Tumblr media
—so Cinder was always going to end up with it one way or another, no matter what she did
(and who knows if it was bought new? maybe she wasn't the first child slave this hotel has seen; all three Tremaines act like this is business as usual when they meet Cinder)
but Madame doesn’t put it on her right away, just gives her a list of chores and leaves the room
Tumblr media Tumblr media
now, from a Doylist perspective, I'm pretty sure it's to save time that we don't see Cinder actually having the collar put on her; they had a whole lot of shit to cram into just a few minutes and that would have been unnecessary. but, from a Watsonian perspective: why?
Tumblr media
[Has_No_Idea_What_The_Fuck_Is_Going_On_.png]
consider: Cinder literally just got here. she has no idea where anything is or how to do anything that's being demanded of her: cleaning up around a stable is a whole different ball game than being charged with the upkeep of an entire, enormous hotel at ten years old, maybe even younger depending on how much time passed between when she was first "adopted" and when she met Rhodes
there's no way she did everything perfectly, or even right, that first try (and of course her stepsisters weren't any help)
she's being immediately set up to fail, and more importantly, to be punished, to be shown exactly what her captors will do to her when they find her lacking
so: did Cinder have the shock collar put on her the first time she made a mistake, and have it framed as her own fault?
Cinder, years later, Realizing: hEY WAIT A DAMN MINUTE

In light of recent G-Witch News
So this meme pretty much encompasses my thoughts about the fact that Bandai Namco Filmworks is trying to walk back Suletta and Miorine's relationship as "Up to interpretation".

Ever After: What will happen to the Curious Cat
So, with the RWBY volume 9 finale approaching, I thought I would talk about some potential end game scenarios for the Curious Cat.
Scenario 1: The Curious Cat dies
Now when I say die here I mean cease to exist. To put it in another way, something stops the curious cat from ascending.
Now there are three ways I think this could occur:
The first is dependent on the Jabberwalker still being alive which is still an open question. Now assuming Neopolitan was not quite overzealous in beating her frustration into the Jabberwalker, they would have to find a way from their acre to the tree. Which would be no simple task since I think it's pretty safe to assume that the Jabberwalker can't freely go to the tree whenever they want. Which would mean: the Jabberwalker either found a way to the tree on their own or followed WBYJ in. The latter running into the problem that the Jabberwalker vocalizes all their actions.
The second way is that Neopolitan did kill the Jabberwalker and inherited their powers. This would require Neopolitan to break free of CC's control and end the cat's existence herself. However, I don't think that course of action would necessarily go well with RWBYJ.
The third way would be that for whatever reason, CC can't ascend. Be that because of something the brother gods did or something CC did themselves.
Scenario 2: The Curious Cat Ascends
Now there is already precedence for this: both the Paper Pleasers and Herbalist have ascended. So, in theory all that would have to happen is that CC takes enough damage that they "die" which would lead to the Blacksmith fixing them up and CC finding their purpose again.
Scenario 3: The Curious Cat comes with RWBYJ(N?)
For this one the idea would be that CC is removed from Neopolitan's body and talked down by RWBYJ. Ruby promises to reunite CC with the gods so they can ask why their creators left them. At which point they leave for Remnent with or without Neopolitan. What I find fascinating about this possible scenario is how it will set up the end game with the Brother Gods.
We have this trifecta of individuals who have been psychologically traumatized by the gods. CC was abandoned likely before the creation of Remanent which could be eons before the start of the show. Salem was cursed with immortality after she attacked the gods for repeatedly resurrecting and destroying Ozma. Ozma was given a kind of immortality as well as a nigh impossible task.
Together they represent three instances the Brother Gods were poor stewards of their creations. I feel this will help make the case of why Humanity, Faunus and Afterans should be able to govern their own destinies.

My heart 😭
You know, I always wondered why Raven’s bracers don’t actually protect her hands. As a swordwoman, it’s crucial to keep the actual back of her hand protected.
Tumblr media
But now, but now I see where they went.
Tumblr media
Summer’s hand guards are the perfect shape, color, and skeletal build to match Raven’s. The fact that the concept of her weapon covers both of her hands perfectly when concept arts are usually not so obstructed is VERY telling on the importance of these red guards she has on. Either the guards Summer wears were meant to complete the set Raven currently owns, or Raven wears her bracers in honor of the ones Summer used to have. Either way, they’re so fucken wifecore and I never fucken lose ROSEBIRD NATION HOW ARE WE FEELING!!!

The Ever After: Living an Escapist Reality
Spoiler Warning: Spoilers for RWBY Volume 9 chapter 9
As we approach the Volume 9 finale, one take I've seen is that Neopolitan will stay in the Ever After to live with an illusion of Roman for the rest of her days.
I respectfully disagree with this take because it conflicts heavily with the themes of the volume thus far. Specifically the themes of confronting trauma and living an escapist reality.
It this chapter Jaune is only able to go to the tree, when he accepts that he has been living an escapist reality which has been holding him back from moving forward. I think it will be hard to justify Neopolitan ultimately coming to the opposite conclusion that Jaune made this chapter.
