Season ending thoughts: Sailor Moon is one of those series I've wanted to get into for a number of years now. Unfortunately, its only just now that I've gotten around to watching the first season. Mentally kicking myself out of the way now, I enjoyed this first season quite a bit. 8/10 if I had to give it a rating.

I will post a poll tomorrow because I'm torn on watching Sailor Moon R or Revolutionary Girl Utena next.

Is Salem looking in all the wrong places? A post volume 9 theory

Premise: Reflecting on Volume 4 through the Volume 9 animatic I don't think the idea that Salem is looking for the relic of choice in all the wrong places is outside the realm of possibility.

What we as the audience know:

1.) As of volume 4 chapter 3 Salem was still running on assumption that the relic was at Beacon Academy.

Salem: (to the Seer Grimm) Reinforce our numbers at Beacon. The Relic is there.

2.) "Ozpin" was pretty confident about Salem not being able to find the relic

Ozpin: Very astute, Miss Rose, I was wondering who would be the first to ask. No, thankfully she does not. It's true that the Relic at Haven is very much at risk, and for now, that should remain our primary focus. Let's just say I made finding the Relic at Beacon a... bit more challenging than at the other schools.

3.) The Long Memory (Ozpin's signature weapon) is not a relic

Ozpin: No, my cane is not a Relic.

Ozpin: Yes, while this cane is indeed very precious to me, it is also just that - precious to me. While I admit it still has a few more tricks up its sleeve, I can firmly say that being a Relic isn't one of them.

4.) By Volume 8, Salem has reached a dead end in her quest to find the relic of choice and interrogates Oscar for the information.

Salem: The Beacon Relic. My forces have been unable to locate the Relic beneath the school. If I know my Ozma, he has used some means of deception to hide its location differently than the others.

Salem: I need to know where it is.

Salem: Of course. He would keep that one guarded as long as possible.

5.) Sometime post Volume 8 Salem and Cinder arrived in Vale to look for the relic.

Port: (sighs) When Salem left Atlas, she came for Vale, and now there's nothing left.

Putting it all together (as best I can): Salem had been running under the assumption that the relic of choice was located within a vault at beacon academy. This is most likely due to conversations she had with Lionheart.

The injuries Cinder sustained in Volume 3 caused Salem to task her forces at beacon to continue the search for the vault possibly lead by an unknown person or party. By volume 5 Ozpin seems pretty confidant about the safety of the Beacon relic.

In Volume 8 Salem reveals to Oscar that her forces have searched for the relic under Beacon. Their interactions lead me to believe that at this point Salem has written off the vault being in Beacon as a bust. So, she interrogates Oscar for the information she needs. However, Oscar is in the dark about its location.

Sometime post the volume 8 finale, Salem and Cinder arrive in Vale. Either tearing the city apart while searching for the vault or destroying the city in the aftermath.

Now the Remnant coalition is going to grapple with whether or not to assume Salem has the relic or not. Which is going to factor into the decision to make a stand in Vacuo or make a counterattack against Salem.

However, to play devil's advocate let's say the vault isn't in Vale either. The question then becomes where is the vault then. So, I'd say there are three possibilities:

1.) Its in Patch

2.) its in the Emerald Forest

3.) its in Vytal island
