HELLO I moved last week and I have no WiFi or service in my flat (posting from a coffee shop) so I apologise for the lack of posting.
However, this was meant to be for today's wolfstarmicrofic prompt Basilisk, but it's officially much too long because I've missed writing to post lmao, so it's not a microfic.
(Ravenclaw Remus AU.)
"Lupin, you're patrolling with..." Moody flicks quickly through his notes, "Black."
"Oh, er... Alright," he says with a shrug, trying to pass himself off as calm.
Internally? Every single alarm is going off in his head.
Remus never exactly... spoke to Sirius Black, or his friends. Ravenclaws and Gryffindors aren't really destined to interact, and Remus would have chosen death over joining the Quidditch team. That didn't stop him from being one of far too many people in the school that had a major minor crush on Sirius.
Sure, he knew that Sirius had grown up rich and pampered. He always held himself in this way that made him seem ten times more important than everyone else. That wasn't exactly helped by the fact that he was a Gryffindor. Lily, Mary and Marlene were the only Gryffindors Remus has ever really tolerated. The rest are all pretentious as fuck. Everyone knows that.
Still, for some reason, his brain would short circuit whenever he was so much in the same room as Sirius. He still lays awake at night, humiliated about the time he accidentally caught Sirius' eyes and tripped over the bench in the Great Hall.
Joining the Order wasn't even a question for him. Anything to help them win the war. He hadn't exactly expected Sirius to do the same, but it just makes him feel like he's back in school. Frustratingly enough for him, Sirius has only gotten more attractive in the year since they've left school. It hasn't really mattered until now, though. He's been pretty successful in avoiding him. It's probably helped by the fact that he isn't even on Sirius' radar, but this? He's going to set the strangest first impression on the planet.
There's nothing he can do about it, though.
That's how Remus finds himself waiting outside the Order house, fidgeting with an unlit cigarette.
"Hey, Remus!"
There he is.
Remus looks up, shoving the cigarette back into the carton. Sirius has stopped in front of him, running a hand through his hair and grinning at Remus.
Leather jackets look weird on literally everyone other than him.
Remus has to jostle his brain into functioning. He blinks once, before finally mustering a polite smile.
"Hi. Should we get going?"
"Yeah. Yeah, let's go."
They walk in silence for a while, moving from spot to spot and taking the odd note.
Until Sirius decides he's done with all of that.
"Y'know, I was hoping you'd join the Order."
"Sorry?" Remus practically stops in his tracks, turning to Sirius with wide eyes. Shock ripples through him.
Hoping?
"I mean, I had a feeling you would. I'm just... glad you did, I guess."
"I didn't even know you knew I existed," Remus confesses quickly.
Sirius actually does stop moving, grabbing Remus' forearm and stopping him too.
"You're kidding, right?"
"No, really. You existed on this... separate plane. I mean, you were you. Everyone knew about you. Why would I be on your radar?"
"Remus," Sirius says slowly, eyes boring into Remus'. It sends a shiver down Remus' spine. "All I did was think about you."
"What?" Remus sputters, a strange mixture of confusion and shock overwhelming him.
"Oh, I had such a crush on you." He shrugs like it's nothing; like what he just said hasn't turned Remus' entire world on its axis. "I thought that was obvious, I mean... you're bloody brilliant. Ravenclaw prefect, running a study group-"
"I can't believe you've even given me a second thought," Remus says, a little breathless.
"Merlin, I did. I remember telling James that I'd fight a Basilisk for you." Sirius chuckles to himself, but Remus is losing control over his own responses scarily quickly. "I know you couldn't stand me, but-"
"Who said that?"
"Nobody had to." Sirius watches Remus, a little puzzled. "You're not the biggest fan of Gryffindors, right?"
Well, he's not wrong.
"Besides, you couldn't stay in the same room as me. You literally fell over yourself trying to get away from me before."
"Oh, God," Remus mutters under his breath, his face heating up uncomfortably. His one comfort has been that Sirius didn't notice him embarrassing himself every time he walked into the room.
"Sorry," Sirius says suddenly, releasing Remus' hand. "I didn't mean to- Christ, I've made things even more awkward, haven't I?"
Huh.
He's not as confident as Remus thought.
"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean- let's just forget I said that. Finish patrolling."
No.
Remus doesn't want to forget. He needs to do something, before Sirius never speaks to him again.
Hurriedly, he grabs Sirius' hand, pulling him into an alley nearby.
Well, he's committed to it now. No turning back.
"Remus, what-"
He pulls Sirius in by his stupidly perfect jacket and connects their lips before he has a chance to second guess himself.
Thankfully, Sirius wastes no time in falling into the kiss. His lips are soft against Remus', parting just enough for their tongues to meet.
The kiss is everything he could have imagined and more. Sirius is somehow both tentative and eager and he tastes like cinnamon and fuck, Remus may as well have died and gone to heaven. His hand involuntarily slides into Sirius' hair, and he's rewarded with a muffled gasp.
Okay, maybe Gryffindors aren't that bad.

Today's @wolfstarmicrofic prompt is Hogsmeade!
Remus is trying to read.
Really, he is.
He hasn't finished the assigned reading for next term, but every word is blending together, jumping about the page and almost making him nauseous. He always falls behind a little around the full, but recently it feels like he's having to work ten times as hard to catch up after. His focus just... runs away around the full moon, and it's getting worse every month. Merlin, he's dreading aging properly, if it's this awful now.
Eventually, he just can't take staring at the stupid bloody page and getting nowhere anymore. With a groan, he tosses the book aside and stares up at the ceiling. He may as well just give up for the next week.
Maybe forever.
"You're going to be so mad at yourself if those pages are ruined, darling." Sirius' voice appears out of nowhere, Remus jumping a mile.
"Christ, where did you come from?" He asks quickly, sitting up. Sirius crouches down and picks up the book, closing it gently with his free hand. "Wait, why are you here?"
"Er... Nice to see you too," Sirius says, an amused smile finding its way onto his face.
"I said you could go to Hogsmeade. We need stuff for that prank."
"I did go to Hogsmeade," Sirius says with a shrug. "Where d'you think I got the chocolate?"
Remus' eyes flick to the bar of Honeydukes chocolate Sirius is brandishing, trying to bite back a smile. Sirius sets Remus' book down on a bedside table, followed by the chocolate bar, before climbing into the bed beside Remus.
Well, since he's here...
Remus lets himself relax, wrapping his arms around Sirius' waist and dropping his head onto Sirius' chest.
"James and Pete'll be fine getting what they need, anyway," Sirius says softly, his fingers gently playing with the curls on the back of Remus' neck.
Something about Sirius makes every muscle in Remus' body relax. He finally has a moment to realise just how bone tired he is; his eyes start to close before he can stop himself.
"Thanks," he mumbles, slowly drifting off.
As he falls asleep, he feels Sirius raising his hand and pressing his lips to Remus' knuckles.

Happy Marauders go back to school day!!
Today's @wolfstarmicrofic prompt is Hogwarts Express xoxo
"Are you okay?" Lily asks, watching Remus' leg bounce from inside the carriage as his anxiety mounts. His eyes are practically glued to the window, scanning the platform.
"Hm? Yeah, I'm fine, I'm..."
He trails off the moment he sees him.
Sirius.
He steps through the platform with James close behind, and Remus can already see the switch that a summer away from his family brought on. He's standing a little taller, his eyes a little brighter. As Effie and Fleamont emerge, he turns and smiles at them, his whole body more relaxed than Remus has ever seen him.
"I'll be right back," he says quickly, standing and practically running from the Hogwarts Express.
Once he gets out onto the bustling platform, Sirius turns and spots him. His face brightens in an instant, positively beaming at the sight of him. God, just the sight of him sends warmth through Remus' chest.
He doesn't even know when Sirius starts moving towards him, all he knows is that they meet in the middle with a crashing, bone-breaking hug. Remus shuts his eyes, pulling Sirius closer. For a while, he was worried Sirius would be gone forever.
Here he is, happy and safe and free.
"You got out," Remus murmurs, a little breathlessly. He feels Sirius nod, and the relief floods him so suddenly, it brings tears to his eyes. Sirius must be able to feel that Remus is on the brink of a breakdown, because he pulls away. Gently, he reaches up and cups Remus' face with both hands.
"I love you," Sirius says suddenly, with that damn smile that just... knocks the air out of Remus' lungs. The one that travels up so far that it crinkles his eyes. Then, out of nowhere, he pulls Remus in and connects their lips.
Sirius is here.
He's here, and he's staying.
Life is fucking perfect.

For hippie/scientist wolfstar - maybe a fic where Sirius gets ill and Remus provides all sorts if holistic remedies? Sincerely, someone who's gf tried to heal a cold with crystals instead of medicine 😌
YES
Masterpost here!
"Right, no, we're not doing that," Remus says simply, pulling the notebook out of Sirius' hands. If his head wasn't pounding, he would protest harder at losing his only connection to work for the day. However, he doesn't really have the energy to fight Remus on it right now.
Instead, he settles back into the bed and watches his partner vanish from the room.
Thank fuck, he must be getting some kind of medicine. Maybe Sirius can take something that'll knock him out for a few hours, distract him from the fact that his chest is burning.
When Remus gets back, they're definitely holding something. Sirius turns his head to watch as Remus starts placing crystal towers beside him.
Huh.
"Hold out your wrist," he orders, and Sirius obeys a little blindly. Some kind of essential oil is dropped onto his wrist.
Then, Remus reaches out and presses a crystal into his hand. Sirius can see him reaching for another when he intervenes.
"Remus, darling," Sirius says, voice a slight croak, "I love you, but if you hand me one more rock, I'll chuck it out the window." A smile creeping onto his face betrays him, disregarding all seriousness that could have been attached to that statement. Remus smiles back sheepishly.
"Sorry, love. Could I get you anything?" They take the crystal back and sit it on the bedside table with the others. They're actually quite calming to look at.
"I have no clue," Sirius answers back with a shrug. "Think I just need to sleep."
Remus nods once, before climbing into the bed. He wraps his arms around Sirius' waist from behind, pressing a kiss into his hair.
"Careful, you'll get ill," Sirius says, eyes already starting to slide close.
"Worth it," Remus answers simply, gently, tightening his grip on Sirius as he finally, finally drifts off.

Today's @wolfstarmicrofic prompt is rings!
(204 words.)
It's weird, the first time they really take their relationship public.
They had told everyone who mattered to them, and all, a good few weeks before. It hadn't really been enough of a push for them to act any different around them. It just felt... odd, like they were going to make them uncomfortable.
Still, it had to happen eventually.
As it turns out, it was a complete accident.
They were running late to breakfast. Sirius comes running down into the great hall first, hair pulled up into a bun, with one of Remus' jumpers on. He doesn't even realise that there's a hickey on his neck until he catches a glimpse of himself in his goblet.
Ah.
Right.
Remus isn't far behind, hair messed to high heaven, shirt untucked and donning several of Sirius' rings. For a moment, it doesn't even register. Everyone goes still for a second as the two of them exchange a glance.
Well, no turning back now.
With that decided, Sirius reaches out and laces his fingers through Remus'. It breaks the stillness for all of their friends. Yeah, there are a few people they don't really know staring, but not the people who matter.
Perfect. Business as usual.

For mad scientist siri and hippie remus: Sirius having a depressive episode bc his work hasn't had much progrssed in such a long time and remus making him go outside in nature and them just having walking and talking abt everything and nothing, racing eachother along the river and colecting rocks and flowers
I'm finally feeling motivated enough to go through these prompts!!
Materpost here :)
"Sirius?" Remus forces himself to sit up out of bed, glancing around for his fiancé.
Huh.
Nothing.
They're used to finding Sirius writing in a notebook on the bathroom floor, or tracing with his fingers on the kitchen table at an ungodly hour. He's even found Sirius asleep somewhere he isn't supposed to be, curled up with notes still clutched in his hand and an open pen drawing lines across his arm. Their eyes flick to the digital clock on his nightstand.
5:18am. Makes sense. It's practically light outside.
Slowly, he slips out of bed, shoving a cardigan and a pair of slippers on. Time to hunt for Sirius.
He makes sure to check all of the usual spots. There's no whiteboard pen on the bathroom tiles, nothing out on the front patio, and the kitchen is empty.
Remus frowns, confused. His bike's still parked, so he hasn't left the house.
It's only when they head down to check the back garden, walking down the hall, that they find him. Over the sound of his quiet footsteps, he catches some breathing coming from the living room.
Ah.
With a nod to himself, he turns and steps into the darkened room.
The only light is peeking through a crack in the curtains, illuminating Sirius. He's on the floor, directly in front of the sofa. His knees are up, arms limp on the floor. For a second, Remus thinks he's asleep. It's only when they move closer that they realise Sirius is awake, staring into space.
"Hey, Sirius. You okay?"
Nothing.
"Love?" He moves to sit beside Sirius, waiting patiently. Sirius'll talk when he's ready.
Turns out, it doesn't take long.
"I'm fine."
The words are hollow, empty. Remus knows Sirius well enough to know that something has happened. Something that's done more than just ruin his night. He's more withdrawn than Remus has seen him at home in a while.
He'd bet his entire life that it's work related.
"Okay," Remus says with a nod. Then, the moment the idea hits, they stand up and extend a hand to Sirius. "Let's go."
For a moment Sirius just looks at his hand, confusion cutting ever so slightly through his apathy.
"Where?"
"A walk. Come on."
"Oh, I'm good-"
"Nope. You're coming with me." Remus shakes their head. He knows Sirius is going to say yes. He always does. He's terrible at saying no to Remus.
Eventually, Sirius reaches out and grabs Remus' hand, letting himself be helped up.
He doesn't say a word, just following Remus out of the bungalow and down the street. Their hands stay linked, as Remus leads him carefully through a few winding side streets, then over a fence.
"Remus, where are we going?" Sirius asks, dutifully climbing over the fence. Remus glances over to the small trail they've gotten to, gesturing vaguely around.
He watches Sirius carefully, catching just a hint of amusement in his eyes.
Good.
With that, the two of them start walking over to the stream. As they pass a few trees, Remus sees Sirius reach out and trace his fingers across the bark.
"I wonder what type of tree that is," Remus muses. They're sure Sirius is going to catch on, notice that it's an obviously baited statement.
"It's actually easier to figure out than you think," Sirius answers. He can't stop himself, and Remus knows that. He loves listening to Sirius' insanely random and well informed monologuing, usually about a strangely obscure topic.
As Sirius explains, Remus occasionally asking a question or two to keep it going, they reach the stream. Remus squeezes Sirius' hand once, before grabbing a stone and watching it skip across the water. A small smile finally finds its way onto Sirius' face.
"Isn't this place how you found our house?" Sirius asks. Remus nods, beaming at Sirius. "You stung by nettles, and wanted to find some, er..."
"Dock leaves," they supply. "Then our place was just... on the way back. It just-"
"Felt right."
A silence settles over both of them, watching the water. Remus can feel the anticipation in Sirius. He's building up to saying something, and Remus is going to wait it out.
"I'm at a dead end. With the project," Sirius says finally. When Remus turns their head, Sirius is still looking out at the waves. "It's like... every route I take just doesn't work." His brow furrows first, followed by his entire face crumbling. Finally, he turns and drops his face onto Remus' shoulder. "I've hit a wall, Remus. It's not even fun to research, right now. Nothing's working," he mumbles, muffled.
Remus doesn't hesitate in wrapping his arms around Sirius. Of course it's about his research. For a moment, Remus just holds Sirius through it, letting him panic for a second. He needs it.
"You can't think about all of this every minute of every day, okay?" Remus starts, gently brushing his fingers up and down Sirius' back. "You won't get anywhere if you don't slow down, love. If you take some time to yourself, you don't know what you'll unlock."
"But what if it just slows everything down?" Sirius asks, lifting his head and watching Remus carefully.
"It won't. Trust me," they say earnestly.
Eventually, finally, Sirius nods once.
"Okay."
"Yeah?" Remus asks, hopeful.
"Mhm," Sirius cracks a real smile, leaning in and pressing his lips to Remus'. "I think I see some forget-me-nots over there, anyway. I would be a shit fiancé if I didn't at least bring some back home, eh?"
They know Sirius still has a long way to go with this project, and they both know it won't be easy on him, but this is something.
Besides, wedding planning is the perfect way to take a break from work, right?

Red Flags
Oh my god I've been so burnt out I'm so so sorry but I WROTE SOMETHING FINALLY
“Right, so
” Lily starts, settling down in front of the others with a coffee in hand, “what are we thinking?”
“I have a feeling we’re all thinking the same thing,” Mary says, shaking their head to themself. As Lily glances around, everyone nods in agreement.
Remus Lupin has terrible taste in men.
It’s an infamous fact among the group, really. Somehow, Remus manages to find every weird, rude, and downright horrible man on the face of the earth. He's not stupid, but he is impressively good at ignoring all of the warning signs. Lily remembers, more than once or twice, picking up the pieces, shouting at the exes, even stopping Remus from taking them back. It always sucks to see him that upset, and Lily just couldn't take it anymore.
So, they've developed a system.
It involves a lot of internet stalking, going through social media after social media, looking for pieces of evidence, things they can mention directly to the guy in question. If they can figure out if they're exactly the same as the others, which they usually are, they can scare him away before it’s too late. Remus isn't exactly
aware, of their system, but it works, and they need it to keep working. It's better that Remus is a little upset that his boyfriend of two weeks has ghosted him, rather than a painful betrayal.
This newest guy, though? They can't find anything.
“You’d think someone with the name Sirius fucking Black would have something slightly shady on his socials!” Marlene says with a groan.
“I mean, the name’s red flag enough, right? Everyone knows the Black family,” Peter says, but James is intervening before anyone has a chance to agree.
“Hold on, they essentially got rid of him five years ago. I don't know that we can still hold his name against him.”
Yeah, that makes sense. Unfortunately.
“Okay, well
what does he do for a living?” Mary tries, only to get a good few shrugs.
For someone who posts ten times a day, this guy is really quite quiet about his private life.
“I think he's a doctor,” Peter says eventually. “That’s what I found when I looked him up. Pediatric Surgeon?”
“Oh, so he literally saves kids lives,” Marlene says, exasperatedly throwing her hands in the air. “I'm sorry, he can't be Mr Perfect! This isn't how Remus works!”
Lily wants to say that maybe it is, maybe he's turning a corner, but she bites her tongue. They don't actually know anything real, anything substantial, about this guy. All they know is that he grew up in a very prominent family, and can build a careful social media presence. That means nothing.
They need to dig deeper.
“You know what this means, right?” Lily says grimly. “We have to meet him.”
Remus knows exactly what his friends are up to.
They think they're so brilliant at hiding their little
background checks on anyone he even so much as mentions wanting to date. Well, he can't exactly blame them. He's dated some absolutely horrendous people, and he knows that. Showing up at Lily’s as a crying mess wasn't exactly his finest moment, so he gets why they're so concerned.
Sirius, though? God, they’re never going to have to worry again. For a good few weeks, Remus had thought he'd made Sirius up. He's never fallen for someone as quickly as he's fallen for Sirius, even though they're taking everything so slowly. Honestly, he'd move in with Sirius tomorrow, if he asked, but Sirius is too good to ask that so soon.
That doesn't stop Sirius from panicking a little, as Remus keeps setting the table for dinner with his friends.
“What if they hate me? I mean, what if I set a really bad impression and they hate me forever-?”
“They definitely won't hate you. Believe me, you'll click with them. Especially James. I have a feeling he's going to love you.”
James is always the most supportive. He at least tells Remus before the others start to interrogate them.
“But what if-”
“Hey, don't panic.” Remus reaches out and takes both of Sirius’ hands in his. It sends a little thrill through him, the way Sirius’ breath catches in his throat. “Just
don't feel intimidated when they start asking too many questions, and you'll be fine.” Sirius nods once, and Remus squeezes his hands reassuringly.
There’s a knock at the door before they can kiss.
Remus groans as Sirius drops his head onto Remus' shoulder. He takes a breath and takes a step away, as Remus tries to quash the nerves. He knows how much they're going to love Sirius, but it isn't really helping. He doesn't want them freaking him out and scaring him off.
Still, it's too late to give them all the boot now, so, with a slight hesitance, he accepts his fate and opens the door.
“Hey, guys! You’re all here
at the same time,” he says, sticking a perplexed expression on his face. Mary smiles brightly as Remus steps aside to let them all in.
“What a coincidence, right?”
They’re really bad at hiding things.
James is the last one in, and Remus holds him back quickly.
“Please tell me they're not grilling him. Sirius is nervous enough.” He knows the answer already, but James shrugging apologetically only confirms it.
“They didn't find anything online. You know what that means.” Remus nods once, trying to bite back a groan. “They're doing it because they care.”
“I know. Just
please give him a chance. He's
Prongs, he’s amazing.” He watches James’ face soften, and it gives him the slightest glimmer of hope.
Maybe this'll be okay.
“So, Sirius
” Marlene starts, the moment they all settle at the table.
God, it's already starting.
“What’s your favourite thing about our Remus?”
Honestly, Remus is pretty sure that's a tricky question. He's never seen anyone answer it right. There's always something wrong with the answer. It almost feels like a cruel start.
“Oh, wow, I don't think I could pick!” Sirius says with a smile. “I mean, unless you let me pick everything,” he adds with a wink. It draws a smile out of Remus, and James is already positively beaming. The others, though, exchange a confused glance.
“What, so you can't think of anything?” Peter says disbelievingly.
“Oh, I just meant- I think everything about him is amazing.”
A blush immediately spreads it's way across Sirius’ face and, oh, Remus could look at him forever; could watch his face turn rosy until the end of time.
“What d’you think of his writing? Y’know, his breakout piece on euthanasia?” Lily asks, resting her chin in her hands.
“I thought his breakout piece was his intersectionality one?” Remus turns to him, stunned. He didn't even know Sirius had read any of his articles.
He's also right.
Christ, he must be ticking some kind of box for his friends.
“Right, this is stupid,” Mary interrupts Remus’ train of thought, and he's already dreading whatever they're about to say. “If you have any intentions of hurting him, we’ll quite literally kill you.”
“Mary!” Remus says quickly, his hand reaching out to grab Sirius’.
“No, he needs to hear this!”
“Why? Because you couldn't find anything when you looked him up?”
It's enough for the group to lapse into silence.
“Listen.” Remus forces himself to take a breath and slow down. “I know why you do all of this, and I get it. Really, I do. I appreciate how much you care. Sirius, though, he's
guys, he's wonderful. You don't have to worry this time.”
James nods, Mary also seemingly placated. The others, though, turn to Sirius.
Yeah, that makes sense.
“Honestly, I’ve never felt this way about anyone. I wouldn't dream of hurting him. I'm falling in love with him more every single day-” He cuts himself off with wide eyes, immediately turning to Remus.
Oh.
Oh, wow.
“You love me?” Remus asks. It's almost like his friends just
vanish, in that moment. All he can see is Sirius, sitting beside him, telling him that he loves him.
“Shit, I didn't mean to say it like that!” Sirius groans, his face reddening by the second.
Okay, accidentally telling him that he loves him.
“I wanted to plan something nice, think of the right thing to say, not just- God, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean for this-” He buries his head into his hands, muffling his panicked rambling.
“Sirius?” He tries quietly. Sirius just shakes his head minutely. It's really bloody endearing.
Remus is going to have to go about this differently.
Slowly, gently, he reaches out and pries Sirius’ hands from his face. He lets himself lace his fingers through Sirius’, as their eyes meet and Remus’ stomach flips.
“I love you, Sirius,” he says softly. “Christ, how could I not?”
Sirius’ face brightens in an instant, and Remus can't help but beam right back at him. He can practically feel the tension in the room lift.
He has a feeling his friends won't be worrying about him anymore.

Hey there! hope you're having a good day. What about something after the full moon where remus isn't in good shape and has to stay in the hospital and madam pomfy won't let anyone in so sirius somehow sneaks in to snuggle with his boyfriend?
I LOVE THIS
"No," Madame Pomfrey says firmly, hands on her hips. "Absolutely not. Turn around and walk away."
Sirius' stomach drops at that. She doesn't kick them out unless she thinks it's bad, too.
"Hold on, we-" James starts, but he doesn't get very far. Madame Pomfrey lifts a finger and James, for once, lapses into silence.
"He needs rest."
"We'll be quiet," Peter says quickly, as Sirius tries to find something to say. Something to convince her to let him in. There's nothing, though. Nothing he can think to say, because every inch of him is taken up by the fact that Remus is hurt. Really fucking hurt.
"This is non-negotiable," she says, and they all know it's final. Madame Pomfrey has a scary amount of authority. With a resigned sigh, James grabs Sirius' shoulder, turning him around and going to pull him a way. Sirius tries to protest, but he knows full well that it's futile. He's just going to have to have a day of panic. Maybe he can skip lessons, claim that he doesn't feel well, even get into the hospital wing himself if he drinks something he's not supposed to.
"You can borrow the cloak, Padfoot. I've got Remus' notes covered," James murmurs as they hear the hospital wing door shut. It's enough to release some of the tension in his shoulders.
"Cheers," He says quietly.
That's how he finds himself, transformed into Padfoot, under the invisibility cloak. He slips through the door, barely letting it open and moving slowly to keep the cloak over him. Thankfully, Poppy doesn't look twice, turned away from the entrance, as she gathers up some books. She checks in on a cubicle, created by curtains, before heading into her small office and closing the door behind her.
That must be Remus.
He's there in seconds, transforming back and pulling the cloak off his head as quickly as he physically can.
Merlin, Remus is bad.
He's got a new slice across his face and is absolutely covered in bruises. Sirius can spot where Poppy's healed too many broken bones, and Remus looks absolutely exhausted. Christ, he must be in so much pain.
For a moment, Remus doesn't even register that he's there. It gives Sirius a chance to school his features, swiping his wand and wordlessly casting a silencing charm. Sluggishly, Remus lifts his head, eyes widening the moment they reach Sirius.
"Padfoot, what...?" His voice is croaky, stopping himself and trying to clear his throat. His entire face contorts in pain, making Sirius' heart tug.
"Hey, darling. How're you feeling?" He asks softly. He knows full well what the answer is going to be, expecting Remus to say 'terrible'.
Instead, tears start to fill his eyes.
Sirius' face softens, and he doesn't hesitate in sitting on the edge of the bed. He presses the palm of his hand to Remus' uninjured cheek, swiping the first tear away.
"It's okay. It's over now, everything's going to be okay."
Remus winces as he lifts his arms. Still, it doesn't stop him from grabbing Sirius' shirt and pulling him closer. Sirius climbs into the bed immediately, wrapping his arms around Remus and pulling the boy to his chest. He's half sat up, half laying down, so that Remus can rest his head on Sirius' chest. It's honestly not the most comfortable, but Sirius couldn't care less. Remus is here, and that's all he really cares about. He gently brushes his fingers through Remus' hair, hearing his breathing even out as he falls asleep.
Guess he's staying here.
He gently presses his lips to the top of Remus' head, only to be interrupted by the sound of a curtain rustling. He lifts his head and comes face to face with Madame Pomfrey. She doesn't say anything, just shoots him a stern look, and if Remus wasn't sleeping soundly, Sirius would start begging. Instead, he just looks at her, pleading. As if on cue, Remus tightens his grip on Sirius, pulling himself slightly closer in his sleep. Its enough for a smile to form on Sirius' face, looking down at Remus.
When he looks back up, Madame Pomfrey's gone.
Sirius' shoulders relax, and he lets his eyes close.
Thank Merlin Remus is okay.

Today's @wolfstarmicrofic is second chances xoxo
(760 words.)
"I just- I don't know what to do anymore," Remus says hopelessly, as Lily reaches out to pat his hand reassuringly.
"It's tricky. Dumbledore's put you in an awful position."
Realistically, he knows that she's right. He knows that he'd probably be beside himself if Sirius was going out on dangerous missions that he wasn't allowed to talk about, but it isn't like he's actively seeking out danger, keeping secrets for fun! There's literally nobody else for the job, and he can't help that! He hates keeping things from Sirius just as much as Sirius hates not knowing, but who is he to question Dumbledore's orders? He wants to say it all to Lily, but he can feel the lump in his throat, threatening him with tears. Instead, he just shrugs, scrubbing a hand over his face.
"We've got an owl from Moody," James voice interjects. He steps into the living room, eyes scanning over a small piece of parchment. "There's been an attack in Hogsmeade, we've got to get to an emergency meeting."
Just like that, Remus freezes, ears starting to ring as he's brought back to the argument that drove him to the Potters.
"Merlin, you know I-! Sirius, where are you going?" Remus asked exasperatedly, at the sight of Sirius turning and walking to the front door.
"Hog's Head," Sirius answered gruffly, clipped. "I'll be back when I'm back."
Just like that, he was gone.
Remus' breathing shallows, panic gripping at him. Sirius was there. He was there, and now he might be-"
"Remus? Remus, hey, breathe." Lily's hands reach out and grab his shoulders, eyes bearing into his. "What's going on?"
"Uh, Or- Order members," He starts, trying to think through a sudden, panic induced incoherence. "Were there any there? Any caught in the- in the attack?"
"I don't know, it doesn't say," James answers, perplexed. It's all Lily needs for her eyes to widen, for the realisation to dawn on her.
"Right, let's go, yeah? Remus, listen, he's probably at the house. We don't know anything for sure, so try not to panic." He nods vaguely, wishing with each passing second that he could believe her.
Still, he dutifully lets Lily grab his arm, apparating the two of them to the familiar Order house.
He wastes no time in bursting through the door, straight into the packed lounge. Chaos is everywhere, injured members being treated while Moody grills them, presumably getting a timeline of events. Somewhere that feels all too distant to Remus, he's asked a security question. He must answer it, because he's left well enough alone. It doesn't matter to him, though. He's scanning every inch of the small house, searching for-
Sirius.
He's sitting on a small sofa, with Marlene crouched in front of him, wand aloft, healing what she can. He looks a right mess; he's covered in dirt, bleeding, his hair tangled from whatever explosion he had been caught up in.
He's beautiful.
Sirius is quietly answering questions, eyes lifting from the floor and drifting detachedly around across the room. They glide past Remus, before practically doing a double take, his eyes snapping into focus. In seconds, he's up. Ignoring apparent protests from Marlene, he moves past her as Remus manages to find his footing. There isn't a moment's hesitation when they meet, pulling one another into a hug. It's bone crushing, Remus clinging to Sirius like he'll vanish again if he doesn't. Desperation seeps into his every move, burying his face into Sirius' hair and oh, Remus Lupin is a selfish, selfish man. He'll tell Sirius every secret, deny every instruction that he is ever given, just as long as it means that he can hold onto the safety and security that is Sirius Black.
"I thought- I thought you were-"
"I know. Christ, for a second I thought I was..." Sirius' voice breaks and he trails off, holding Remus just a little tighter.
"I'm so sorry. Merlin, Sirius, I'm so fucking sorry."
"No, don't be. Please, don't be. You don't have to- I'm the one who should be-"
"I love you," Remus whispers, finally breaking out of the hug and meeting Sirius' eyes. "I love you so much, okay?"
"I love you," Sirius says back, eyes tearing up and a watery smile appearing on his face. Remus reaches out and cups Sirius' face with both hands, not wasting anymore time as he pulls Sirius to him and connects their lips.
This. This right here. This moment, this man.
He'll do anything for him. Anything for their second chance.

I posted a oneshot on my ao3 and forgot to post it here haha. Enjoy!
"Right, what has got you moping about?" Mary asks suddenly, snapping Sirius out of his daze.
"Hm? Nothing, nothing, I'm fine," He says back vaguely. He's prepared to go back to staring into space, feeling a bit sorry for himself. Mary, however, isn't one to drop a topic.
"You haven't talked my ear off about anything today, and it's weird, okay? What's going on?"
"I-" He looks at her a little helplessly, but she just arches an eyebrow. Okay, so she isn't going to let this go. "I asked a guy out," He concedes with a sigh.
"Okay, and?"
"And he said no," Sirius adds, after an unimpressed look from Mary.
"Sirius, I love you, and all, but you can't act like this every time someone doesn't want to go out with you. You'll be over it in a day or two, anyway!" Sirius just shakes his head, frustrated. He really doesn't think he will, not this time.
Not with Remus.
Yeah, he's had fleeting crushes, but Remus has been a constant. Somehow, he has stuck around, at the forefront of Sirius' mind, since fifth year. In two years, Sirius fell head over heels in love with his best friend. Well, more realised that he had never done anything but love him.
So of course he's a little mortified that he brought Remus to the top of the astronomy tower and confessed everything, only for him to turn bright red and stutter a quick 'no'. Still, there's something else. Something that's nagging at him, that he's really hoping isn't just sadness induced delusion.
"That's not it," Sirius says, half-truthful. "I don't think he rejected me because he doesn't like me."
"Sirius..." She looks at him carefully, and Sirius knows he needs to elaborate.
"Listen, I'm not stupid. I know what the signs are, and I'm sure there's something there. The amount of times we've almost kissed, I mean..." for a moment, his mind gets lost, having to blink harshly back to reality. "I- I can read him like a book, okay? There's something else going on. Some other reason why he said no. Some stupid, self-deprecating, endearing reason, and I need to know what it is."
Mary just looks at him blankly for a second, before shrugging casually and leaning back against the sofa.
"Ask him, then."
"...yeah. Yeah, I think I will."
-
Remus is revising.
Well, trying to revise.
No, he's staring at his book.
It's not his fault, though! It's all Sirius'. Sirius and his stupidly perfect face, looking Remus in the eye and telling him that he loves him. Every single braincell in his head is taken up by picturing it again. Honestly, he doesn't know if it's daydreaming or torture. It doesn't really matter in the long run, it still has him pretending to flick through the pages of his History of Magic textbook, sitting up against a tree by the lake.
He's so wrapped up in his thoughts that he doesn't even hear a person approach. He's blissfully oblivious to the presence of another person until a voice rings out.
"Hey, Moony? Can we talk?" Sirius snaps him out of his daze. Almost immediately, he shoves his book aside, feeling a little like he's been caught thinking about him. Like Sirius can read his thoughts, or something. He cranes his neck slightly to look at the standing Sirius, and almost immediately feels guilty. He's shooting Remus a polite smile, but he can see the hurt that he's trying to cover up.
"Huh? Yeah, yes, we can, yeah," Remus says quickly. Sirius wastes no time in dropping down opposite Remus, eyes meeting his. He isn't really sure what Sirius is going to say-
"How do you feel about me?" He asks suddenly, watching Remus carefully.
"What- what d'you mean?" Remus asks, confused.
"I mean, did you really reject me because you don't have any feelings for me?" Involuntarily, Remus' eyes widen, shock rippling through him. He was hoping that they'd never have to talk about the whole... confession thing again. He's not even sure he can find the words, really. Instead, he focuses all of his energy into keeping his eyes on Sirius', not letting them fall to his mouth. "We never have to talk about this again if you don't, I promise," Sirius says quickly, almost reading Remus' mind. "I just- well, tell me you don't have feelings for me. Say the words."
"I- I don't-"
This is harder than Remus expected.
He fights with himself for a few seconds, before just sighing.
"I don't want to lie to you, Sirius," He says hopelessly, shrugging slightly.
"So you do? You have feelings for me?"
"Yes, Padfoot, I have feelings for you," Remus admits in a rush, feeling his face heat up. Sirius smiles triumphantly and, even now, that grin makes Remus' heart warm. A kindness weaves it's way into Sirius' features, concern etching into his eyes.
"Why'd you say no, Moons? Was it- is it me? Whatever it is, I can work on it-"
"No! No, it's not you, I swear!" Remus says hurriedly, his mind solely on reassuring Sirius. "It's me, it's all me, really."
"Remus," Sirius says, with a tone so earnest that Remus feels compelled to stop and listen. "There's nothing about you that would change the way I feel, okay? Not a thing."
He needs to stop saying everything Remus has wanted to hear. It's just making it all more painful.
"What about the moon?" He says quickly, practically incoherently.
"The moon? What-? Oh, Remus, you know I don't give a toss about your... furry little problem," He says calmly, glancing around for students as he speaks.
"I quite literally turn into a monster every month, Sirius!" He exclaims quietly, desperately. Sirius isn't getting it. "You can't really hold onto any feelings. You might think you do, but you don't. You'll get over it, Sirius. I'm not doing that to either of us when it'll be over in a month, anyway."
For a second, Sirius just stares at him. Christ, he's fucked it up, hasn't he? Sirius isn't even going to want to be his friend anymore-
"I'm in love with you."
Oh.
Oh.
"I think I've always loved you, really," Sirius adds with a breathy laugh. "And that's not in spite of anything. I don't love just one part of you. I love you. All of you. That's not going to change anytime soon. Especially not since I've known that for well over a year. You can tell me you're not good enough, but I disagree. You're everything, Rem. Merlin, I wish you could see that. I've known you for years. Your lycanthropy hasn't gotten in the way of how I feel; not once."
"Not even-?"
"Not once," Sirius emphasises, reaching out and grabbing Remus' hand. He squeezes it once, offering him a gentle smile. "You aren't going to change my mind. If I'm not changing yours, then I'll keep trying. Now that I know you have feelings for me, I'm not going to stop trying to make you see what I see."
Sirius' other hand reaches out and presses against Remus' cheek. Honestly, Remus is dangerously close to tears. Too much is happening, making his head reel. He's not even sure what compels his next decision.
All he knows is that he's leaning in and kissing Sirius.
He hears a small, muffled noise of surprise escape Sirius, before he's kissing Remus back in earnest. It's... everything Remus could have imagined and more. Sirius' lips are soft against his, the hand that was sitting comfortably on Remus' cheek winds around and lands on the nape of his neck instead. Remus wishes that could be it.
Instead, his brain decides to keep whirring, forcing him to pull away and talk again.
"I'm going to die first. Shorter life span," He blurts out, instantly wincing at himself. Sirius just arches an eyebrow.
"You're not dying tomorrow, right?" Remus shakes his head, confused. "Then it's a bit early to be thinking about dying," He says with a grin. Oh, Merlin, how it makes Remus' stomach swoop. "What else have you got? Hit me with it." Remus finally smiles properly.
"Can't think of anything off the top of my head," He says calmly.
"Okay, great! That means we're going to try, right?" Sirius asks gently, looking at Remus hopefully.
"Yeah. Yeah, we're going to try."

Today's @wolfstarmicrofic prompt is Not a Date!
(625 words.)
"So, how did it go?" Lily asks excitedly, dropping down into the seat beside Remus in the Common Room. Remus frowns, a little confused. For a second, he racks his brain, tries to find something in his day for Lily to be asking about.
"How did what go?" He asks eventually, giving up. Lily looks at him as though he's spontaneously learnt another language, which does nothing to ease Remus' confusion.
"Your big date!"
Okay, yep, that hasn't helped.
"Big date?" Unless he's really daft, he hasn't been on any date today.
"With Sirius! Come on, I need details!"
Shock immediately ripples through Remus, his eyes widening almost involuntarily. Yeah, he and Sirius had been in Hogsmeade all day, and yeah, it was really nice. That doesn't mean he was on a date with him! He accepted a while ago that Sirius was never going to see him in that way, anyway.
"That was not a date," He says quickly. Lily only smiles at him, clearly slightly puzzled.
"Come on, you've been all sad about your crush on him for months! You're telling me that the sadness stopping the moment you go to Hogsmeade together is a coincidence?" She says triumphantly, as though she's just proved this magic point, brought everything together.
She really hasn't.
"No, I stopped acting all... sad, about it, because I accepted the fact that he's never going to feel the same way, and I may as well just enjoy our friendship. We went to Hogsmeade as friends!" He explains carefully, but Lily just eyes him disbelievingly.
"Just the two of you."
"Yeah!"
"No Peter, no James?"
"Yeah?" He really doesn't see where she's going with this.
"And where did you go?" She asks calmly. "Not round the shops, Marlene would have seen you."
"The three broomsticks," He says. "We just... talked, I guess. It wasn't a date." The more he thinks about it, the more Lily's thought process is starting to sink in. "Wait. Was it a date?" He asks her, glancing up.
"Oh my god, Remus. I love you so much, truly, but you're an idiot."
"Hey! We never agreed that it was a date! It's just... he did only ask me, and we did sit really quite close, but..." For the second time in the space of five minutes, Remus is sent into a state of shock. He's practically stunned into silence.
"Right, forget details. You need to go and talk to Sirius." With that decided for him, Lily reaches out and practically shoves Remus off the sofa.
It's enough to get him moving; making a beeline for the dorms and shoving the door open.
Sirius turns his head the moment Remus walks in, offering him a soft smile.
"Was that- was it a date? Did we go on a date?" Remus blurts out before he can stop himself. It probably isn't the right thing to have said, based on the way that Sirius' face drops.
"Did you... yes, it was a date! I've been trying to ask you out for months!" Sirius exclaims quickly. "Was I not clear enough?" His expression twists into one of worry at a startling pace. Remus just wants to reach out and pull all of the worry from him. "Because we can forget it ever happened! Y'know, if you don't... feel that way."
"No! No, I don't want to forget! I'd- well, I'd actually quite like to go on a date that I know for sure is a date," Remus explains.
At that, Sirius' face lights up, all traces to anxiety gone. Remus would say that over and over, if that's the reaction that he's going to get.
Merlin, Lily's right. He really is an idiot. How could he not tell before?

Today's @wolfstarmicrofic prompt is Awful First Meeting!
Have a PTA AU xoxo
(521 words.)
Remus is running.
He seems to find himself sprinting to the school a lot, at the moment. Staying later and later to finish his fucking project at work. He's never picked Teddy up late, though. That much he can be proud of.
This bake sale, however?
Remus fails to see why he should give a shit. A bunch of catty parents are going to have plated up tiny Tesco brownies, claiming that they baked them and shooting Remus glares when he walks past with his kid. It's really not that important. He's been avoiding every PTA event for a reason.
Still, Teddy's desperate for him to go to this one and meet his best friend. As much as Remus tries to put his foot down, he's not going to be a shitty dad. He can't say no to that kid, not really.
So here he is, making it to the bake sale just on time. Teddy runs from his teacher and straight over to him, squealing with delight when Remus picks him up and spins him around.
"Hey, Ted! How was school?"
As Teddy chatters on about his day, Remus shifts his weight until his kid is on his hip. He doesn't even notice someone approaching until a voice sounds.
"You must be Remus Lupin?" A man says, and Remus turns his head.
The first thing he thinks is that this man is absolutely gorgeous.
His long black hair falls down to his shoulders in a way that almost makes it indistinguishable from water. Remus has to stop himself from raking his eyes up and down him, landing on meeting his eyes. There's a flash of something in them that unsettles Remus, slightly. Some sense of... irritation?
"Yeah, yeah, that's me," Remus says, setting Teddy down and letting him run over to a group of kids.
"I'm Sirius," He introduces himself, and-
Ah.
Sirius.
Head of the PTA.
"It's good to finally meet you. Giving the PTA a try?" He asks, and if he thinks Remus can't hear the attempt to mask his sarcasm, then he must think Remus is an idiot.
"Well, Teddy wanted me here, so I got the day off work."
Sirius nods once, slowly, and it does nothing but frustrate Remus.
"So, what did you bring?" Sirius asks casually.
Remus reaches in his bag, trying to grab the brownies he and Teddy has made.
"I've got- they're just... christ, I forgot to bring them. Sorry."
"You can just say you didn't make anything," Sirius says calmly, and his incredulous tone makes Remus want to scream. What the fuck does he know about being a single dad? About working three jobs to make sure your son doesn't notice how they're struggling?
"Maybe I won't come to another PTA event," Remus says sharply, looking Sirius up and down before getting closer to his son.
"Harry!" Teddy calls, as a young boy with wild hair gets closer. Sirius walks over and ruffles the boy's hair before he makes his way over to Teddy, sending a realisation through Remus.
Fuck.
His son's best friend is related to that pompous fucking dad.
