I have dnf’d Elle Kennedy’s new book ‘Body Check’ and I feel kinda bad about it

I love Elle Kennedy’s briar books and her writing in those books, chefs kiss 🤌

But this new book is a standalone and the writing quality and style was so much worse then prior works, it almost seems like wasn’t written by her.

But also, I didn’t care about the characters. I read until page 175 out of 275-300 page book.

I also feel bad because wasted $18 (local bookstore in tourist town) on this book! I have never paid for one of her book before.

It was just a no go for me

Here are my spoiler thoughts from the ENDING!!!

I enjoyed this book, probably one of the least painful final books.

Everything was very convenient for Bryce and Co.

That’s not bad thing but like made it a bit predictable

Like I didn’t feel the stakes were that high (the world and all, but like, ehh)

When Bryce “died” I wasn’t heart broken because I knew she was coming back

Ari played a smaller role than I expected.

I glad that Connor was able to come back, it was cute for closure.

Also Lidia is the line as Aelin and Aedion, cool, how did she get there?

So like all the books are roughly happening at the same time.

Definitely least spicy book I feel like we got 3-4 spicy scenes, Definitely artistic spicy scenes

I wish we saw more inner circle.

Walmart exclusive was fine, it was cool seeing Nesta and Bryce bond but the setting was soo early on in the book there was still a lot of hostility between the three of them

It was a lot of information and world building. She was given a lot of info relative easily.

I think we are going to get a frost and starlight novella next in the cc universe, sjm said that this book would feel like the end but isn’t.

The autumn king, he is being kinda nice and I find it confusing.

Like he is a scientist/ genius that is low key ( high key) fae supremacist.

Like bro you literally wanted to kill both Ruhn and Bryce, and now you are protecting her?

Bryce is telling him all these things and I’m like why girl? He is an asshole/ enemy ( not numero uno but still bad guy)

I feel like he see his children as means to an end they are solely for experiments and necessary evil
