Important Announcement

First and foremost we’d like to apologize for this post coming out extremely late- Life got extremely busy and we had too much going on and decided to focus our energy where it was needed the most.

That being said- We are publicly announcing that Clans Before Time is permanently closed, and has been since the start of December 2023. Things happened and long story short, we as a team decided it was for the best to end operations.

Although it was short lived, the community that became of the server was lovely and we’re both extremely grateful to all of those that joined us as you guys were the soul of the project.

Clans Before Time is no longer going to be a roleplay server, but worry not, the universe of the Baobab Clans is not lost, and may come back as something different in the future. We have ideas and lore-related questions and more are always welcome! But the details are something for another day.

Happy Fossil Day!

National Fossil Day is an annual celebration held to highlight the scientific and educational value of paleontology and the importance of preserving fossils for future generations. - National Park Services

As we are a server who bases our lore very heavily on fossils, from the prehistoric environment down to our characters, the saber-toothed cats, we thought we’d hop in and celebrate this day with some fun facts about fossil animals you could possibly encounter here in the Baobab!

Deinotherium

The heavy-weight representative of TuskClan’s megafauna is colloquially known as simply “The Elephant”, though you may be quick to spot that these are no modern-day African Elephants. Instead, the proboscideans that you’d encounter out on the savanna are based on the famous extinct genus of DeinotheriumI, a close relative of modern elephants. They are known for their distinct tusk-shape, curving downwards instead of the modern elephants outward tusk!

Caluma Benovskyi

Chameleons are some of the most recognizable reptiles on the planet, known for their prehensile tails and independently mobile eyes. Not much is known of the fossil chameleons of Africa, but there have been discoveries that show that there were indeed these funky little reptiles climbing around SunClan’s forests, changing colors to try and hide from even the most observant saber.

Euthecodon

Out in the waters of BevyClan, especially in the crocodile lake, you’re likely to find yourself face-to-snout with one of the fiercest archosaurs left on the planet, the crocodile. The genus Euthecodon comprise of three species of long-snouted crocodiles, these beasts appear to have convergently evolved their signature snouts with modern-day gharials, and had originally been thought to have been an ancestor of the croc-cousins, though research has more heavily suggested that BevyClan is indeed home to true crocodiles.

Alongside these fun fossil creatures, sabers in the baobab clans have found some unique collectibles today, be it strange bugs in tree-sap in SunClan's fallen trees, ridged shells in the cub islands of BevyClan, or odd reptilian teeth in TuskClan's sand dunes! Maybe doing a bit of research could help our sabers understand what the world was like before they were in it, and what the Baobab region looked like many moons ago....

By any chance could you share possible reasons for an application to be rejected? Maybe I could get in next time

There’s a couple of reasons for an application to be rejected, yes.

A failed (or null, meaning they didn’t give us enough) background check is one of the reasons! Another one could be that the character simply didn’t fit well with the setting and didn’t have the strong foundation we were looking for. And then, if the applicant only happened to apply to an adopt, maybe someone else applied to the same adopt and one application suited the character better than the other, and so on.

OC-Tober Day 2: New Character

For this one, I chose my most recent guy, Twigpurr, who I will rp in @clansbeforetime ! A sweet but sad healer who. Really needs to care for himself.

I know apps are closed now, but is it alright if we keep asking questions about the world? Also, will you guys be posting updates on server happenings? ( stuff besides openings, like events or major plot stuff )

Of course! We are always happy to share what's going on and keeping all of our followers updated! It also doubles as to keep everyone looking to apply during future openings up-to-date on what's been going on internally! We don't have an exact posting schedule set anymore, in regards to what sort of posts we will be doing, but I think we plan on doing some character spotlights and semi-scheduled plot updates as far as what characters are up to and such. Character spotlight posts will probably start shortly after all of our invites have been accepted and everyone's first characters are finalized!

And please feel free to continue to ask as much as you want! We are always excited every time we see a new question in the inbox and we find the best way to deepen our lore is through questions others ask, because it's often stuff we've never thought to think about!

Closing Soon!

As the 30th approaches, the time for our applications nears its end! We want to thank everyone that applied to our project, regardless what results may be. So much love and support has been shown to our project and we couldn't be more thankful!

When the forms are officially closed and no longer accepting submissions, we'll announce it here and make sure to let you guys know who to expect discord friend requests from and more!

Hey there! Since crafting is a thing Sabers are capable of, do you think in rp that players would be able to craft more advanced things? ( Examples: Fishing nets, Spears, Small fences, etc. )

Slightly more advanced things would be possible, yes! Weaponry and tools of some kinds will most likely not be possible, or really needed in a way! Spears would likely not be a thing when they have long fangs and claws!

Fishing nets are more viable, though! With their practice of weaving reeds, BevyClan sabers could come up with something that works for them! We reckon as long as it's something simple enough, the sabers could do it! If you're ever unsure, staff would always be available to help figure out what could and couldn't be crafted!

We're also super excited, the last preparations are all being done to make sure things are ready!

Is the background check necessary to get into the server? I have other social media accounts but don’t use them much apart from Discord

Yes, they are the most important part of the application process.

The first thing we do when we get an application is the background check. Having a cool character concept is great, but if we believe an individual would bring more harm than good to the community of our server, then we will choose the comfort and safety of our members first and foremost!

If we can see people you follow and posts you like and reblog/retweet and so on, that might just be enough for us to carry out a proper brackground check! If you don't have any active social medias, we're open to seeing other ways we could carry out the background check!

As much as I want to join, my time to put in an application was cut very short by needing to go out to town and having no way to make up a whole character...

That being said we do understand that life happens and finding the time to do other things can be hard! Additionally, having other openings to the server are something we have in mind, yes! We still have much to decide seeing our first opening isn’t even done yet, but if everything goes well we’d love to open our doors again in the future!
