last night i had a dream that hadestown reopened on broadway starring harry styles as orpheus, beyoncé as eurydice, and corpse husband as hades. gabbie hanna played one of the fates even though she told people on twitter that she would be playing eurydice

both are sung by the three main characters from their respective musicals, about each of the characters’ strongest desires and dreams which actually demonstrate a greater outlook on the overall themes of wishes and destinies that are heavily present in both productions, and are act one closers from comedy musicals that on the surface are not to be taken seriously even though they’re both actually really!!! fucking!!! deep!!!!

ok but seriously... “follow the golden rule” transitioning to “follow the gold and rule”.... “i never dated for stories // until you entered mine // and now my only wish is that // our plots may intertwine” —i am SWOONING.... “science says you’re dead and gone forever // reason says i’m talking to the air // but something in my heart // some secret hidden part // illogically insists that you are there”—that subtle juxtaposition between science/reason and illogical!!!!! .... unironically, the rhyming genius of no one remembers achmed (my personal favorite is the whole “superior / posterior” instance in the first verse)..... “the question then is whether ‘tis nobler in the kind // to be well-liked but ineffectual, or moral but maligned?” and basically the entirety of twisted (song) .... “if i do have power // beyond what meets the eye // the source of all my hidden value // is the morale you supply // if i’m capable of greatness // it’s not innateness, don’t you see?” LIKE DAMN PRINCESS GO OFF???
