Sims 4 Neighborhood Development Challenge by Cliff Cutter
I have been working out the rules for what I'm calling the "Neighborhood Development Challenge" in the Sims 4 and I wanted to share what I've come up with:
Take charge of a chosen neighborhood, bulldoze all lots, and build them up into functional community or residential lots. Your Sim must move into one of these lots and they can't leave the neighborhood. Starting with §0 you may only make money through selling tables, owned businesses, or other in-game methods—no traditional careers or direct selling allowed. Your goal is to transform the entire neighborhood using only your household funds.
Pick a neighborhood then bulldoze every lot if they aren't already empty and change them to "Residential".
Your sim (or sims) must move into one of these lots and have their household funds set to §0. They may not leave this neighborhood for the duration of the challenge. You may visit any special lots accessible through interactions on that neighborhood's map, such as the Bluffs or Sylvan Glade but you may not edit them. You may only go to the High School lot if you build your own following the same rules as the other lots, or optionally pay out the cost of the existing school (§196,439). Community Space lots and the Auditorium are a little more complicated, I've done a little math lesson explaining it all in rule 2b which I'll put at the end but if you don't want to think that hard (and I really don't blame you) you can just deduct §55,097 from your funds and use the default auditorium.
You may only make money using the selling table, owned businesses, or any other gameplay that earns money other than careers, selling through buy/build, or selling directly from your inventory. Note: A debug selling table was added to the base game back when Sim Sessions was running, you can find it on the gallery by searching Sims Sessions or on my own Gallery page.
You must build up all the lots in the neighborhood using only your available household funds. They can each be any lot type of your choice. This can be done however you like, whether by buying it as a business, moving into the lot, modifying from manage worlds, or even downloading a lot from the gallery, but in any case you must make sure that the entire cost of the lot is removed from your total household funds.
The challenge is officially complete when you have developed all the lots in the neighborhood, though you could easily extend by adding an additional neighborhood if you want to make this part of a longer legacy challenge or something.
2b. This is going to sound a lot more complicated then it is, and there's almost certainly a simpler way to explain it that I can't think of, but since the Auditorium and Community Space Lots are each made up of 4 possible settings you can deduct the cost of the basic mode from each of the other 3 modes, then add them together to get the total cost. It boils down to this equation: B+(X-B)+(Y-B)+(Z-B)=Total Cost.
I'm going to refer to each mode for both the Autitorium and Community Spaces as mode B for the default mode and mode X, Y, and Z for the possible variations. So here's where we get to the equation, in which B=the cost of the basic lot and X, Y, and Z each equal the cost of the respective modes:
B+(X-B)+(Y-B)+(Z-B)=Total Cost.
For an example I will use the default auditorium costs where we have X=Prom, Y=Graduation, and Z=Career Day.
So we get this: §30,949+(§43,310-§30,949)+(§38,001-§30,949)+(§35,684-§30,949)
or §30,949+§12,361+§7,052+§4,735=§55,097.
I'm so sorry for the math, it hurts me as much as it hurts you, possibly more.
