Dismiss: “Dismissing” us is is always their first response to any objection to oppression. “Our argument isn’t worthy of a collaborative approach to resolution.” 2. Discredit: Attacking our character, discrediting our intentions 3. Demonize: Often using religion as a way to “villianize” our pure and fair intentions to advocate for the oppressed 4. A study published in Annals of Rheumatic Diseases confirms that those people eating a diet high in #fruits, #vegetables, #legumes, and certain oils also known as the "Mediterranean diet" helps ease symptoms in people with rheumatoid #arthritis. This study was performed on non-vegans. The authors obtained dramatic results by placing 26 subjects on a dairy-free diet for three months, while 25 people continued to eat a typical smorgasbord of meat and dairy products. According to Dr. Lars Skoldstam: "The current results suggest that patients with rheumatoid arthritis can obtain better physical function and increase their vitality from eating a Mediterranean diet for three months." The results of this study come as no surprise. The Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine (volume 78) reported the case of an eight-year-old girl with severe rheumatoid arthritis: "...juvenile rheumatoid arthritis was a milk allergy. After avoiding dairy products, all pain was gone in three weeks." The British journal Lancet (Volume 338) published the results of a study in which the subjects ate a vegan diet: "Controlled trial of fasting and a one-year vegan diet eased symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis." The British Journal of Rheumatology (36;1) reported: "...43 patients with rheumatoid arthritis, those assigned to a vegan diet...had improvement in rheumatoid arthritis symptoms." Rheumatoid arthritis is a painful condition, and it is tragic that many physicians advise their patients know that there is no cure. Many #vegans are caught in the self-defeating cycle of protesting for #animals but voting against them. This pattern keeps the #meat, #dairy, #fur, #vivisection, #rodeo, and other animal-killing industries legal—and profitable. Activists can break the self-defeating cycle by “making the connection” between their #values and their #votes. Whether you are in the U.S. or elsewhere, resolve to vote only for (a) vegan candidates who represent (b) abolitionist party platforms. If your jurisdiction has no such candidate, then you yourself might have to step forward as the candidate who enables animal rights activists to break the cycle. I had the opportunity to participate in The Data Coalition and the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) co-sponsored joint public forum on the Federal Data Strategy’s draft 2019-2020 Action Plan on Monday, July 8. The forum provided an opportunity for the business, academic, and non-profit communities to offer feedback on the 16 draft action items in the Federal Data Strategy. Implementation of the strategy will be undertaken over the next year. At Intel, we believe that for Action #3 of the Federal Data Strategy, the Data Ethics Framework should embrace risk-based accountability approaches, putting in place #privacy-by-design or organizational measures to minimize privacy risks in data processing and #AI. https://www.instagram.com/p/BzuPCWZj22M/?igshid=1j93ar4q7k8ez
