me being me i was really deeping it like when it comes down to it what even is a hero? but keeping it short….yeah, oof.

every now and then I think about the "a hero will sacrifice the person they love to save the world, but a villain will sacrifice the world to save the person they love" quote that floats around the internet.... gotta lock up every modern tsc protag I fear

thinking about how kit often finds anger the most accessible emotion, and how this anger masks his hurt and sadness. in his letter to ty he says “i want to yell at you. i wish you were here so i could yell at you”. when ty comes to him and asks for help, the feeling kit is most consciously aware of is the part of him that wants to shout at ty. but “only part of him” — i.e., the part that’s the easiest to feel.

because beneath kit’s anger is his hurt, which is so deeply intertwined with how he feels about ty. how kit cares for him despite everything, and how this likely frustrates him because he can’t change his heart. despite the years that have passed, despite the messy way they separated. kit wants to shout at ty, wants to be mad, but knows that that anger is only the top-level of an iceberg of so many more emotions—his heartbreak, his believed unrequited love, the fact that he has dreamt about ty for three years, and the fact that deep down he cannot stop himself from caring.
