people have lost sight of what "reclaiming" means I fear. calling someone else a slur in a way that translates to "I think you're stupid/a bad person/whatever" is not reclaiming that slur. using a term in the same way it has been historically used (i.e. to put people down, to reify a particular power dynamic, etc) is not "reclaiming". I don't care if you're part of the same group. you're just being an asshole

This is a song I made for my stream on twitch. It's made in suno so yes, it's PARTIALLY AI

I wrote the lyrics, arranged the song and did some tweaking

BUT!

As i do plan to post these songs here: I support artists. I don't support making a song completely with AI.

This is what I consider using a tool. I'm also a digital artist, I use filters in an art program, I use brush pressure sensitivity, I use color change. do digital artist not use AI even if they draw the whole thing? AI is helping them because deep down that system has a computer thinking of how to interpret your strokes and selections.

AI is a tool like any other but I agree should not be used to completely produce a work.

no but genuinely I lose a little more patience for people who won't wear wool, leather, silk, or fur every day that I live in a world where plastic is increasingly the only damn kind of clothing you can find (or the only kind of fabric for sewing, even)

obviously, animal cruelty is horrible. I believe that even industries that rely on the deaths of animals should make their lives as good and their ends as humane as possible. and many of these industries need tighter environmental regulations on their production practices- some of the chemicals involved are highly toxic and ill-controlled at times

but at some point, you have to wake up to the fact that the only alternative we've found to date is destroying our planet

it's all plastic. and plastic is horrible for the world- the environment, humans, and especially animals. how cruelty-free is it to cause mass habitat loss? or climate change that disrupts food sources for those animals on a vast scale? how is that better than the deaths of a relatively small proportion of animals comparatively?

(and don't even start with "but pineapple leather! but cactus leather!" when those are still basically plastic due to heavy plastics use in their production processes. there is currently no non-plastic alternative to most animal-based textile products)

I've always tried to keep in mind that we all have to decide where our line is, that we all consume and there's no way of living in this world that doesn't take something from it. that for me, plastic clothing is to be avoided as much as possible, and for others, animal clothing products are to be avoided as much as possible. that the choice is equally valid

but I'm having a hard time seeing it as valid anymore when it just feels like trying to push the unpleasant part away from yourself so you can pretend your choice has no negative impacts. you're not wearing animal skin (or wool that an animal didn't even die to produce), so surely your way of doing things is better! no animals were harmed in the making of your outfit!

I send my little message out in this bottle into the sea of voices.

I'm so lost. I'm privileged, lucky, etc. My position is supposedly so good that I have no right to suffer or if i do no right to complain.

Well, here is my life:

I'm disabled. I had a birth defect called an Arteriovenous Malformation in the back of my brain. It didn't get discovered until i was 20 because my seizures were 'diagnosed' as ADHD and tantrums and instead of a scan i was pumped full of pills.

Ok? Woooow, a rough upbringing. My poor baby ass. I know, okay?

So yeah, disabled. Had to have two brain surgeries and they too out actual parts of my brain to get everything.

I'm alive. I'm disabled and i don't have to work ever again.

So yay. I should be happy and shut up right?

I guess?

I get seizures. I'm always dissociated to where i'm barely connected to reality and I forget the simplest things. I can't take care of myself so other people have to.

What!? People take care of me too?! I know right?

... I can't work. I seize if i try to do anything and I can't remember anything half a year back or three days ago depending on the hour.

I used to love to draw but i've forgotten how and can't retain.

I loved writing but now I can't set up chronological order and I write redundancies.

I'm so dissociated that i can't enjoy anime or movies anymore...

So I sit, all alone and play video games with the people across the internet i will never meet.

Because of my 'rough upbringing' and the brain thing i have an alphabet soup worth of acronyms in the mental health department including PTSD.

I should be happy right? I should be content and have found my place? Sitting here, playing games, getting paid?

I mean, if i tried to work, i would kill someone either through my lack of coordination or myself due to accident.

I'm so privileged, i don't have to work... I'm so lucky...

I'm so lost...
