Married to the Key of C Major

Understanding music theory is essential to any musicians growth and without it, we limit our potential.  Its like knowing how to talk but failing to understand the mechanics of writing. The fastest and most beneficial way to to becoming knowledgeable in this subject is to literally become married to C major.  C major is arguable the easiest and first key you will come into contact with during your studies. But what teachers and students fail to do is really get into the weeds with this key.  Once the door is unlock, we tend to want to explore the rest of the “rooms” in the music theory world. In my coming blogs, we will dive in depth into the key of C, we will tear it part and turn it upside down.  Together, we will write some of the most beautiful songs known to man and we will do this using but one key, the key of C major.
