couple of inside looks from the ratfish episode! this was our first time getting to leave the studio and it was so much fun. hope we get to do it again next season 🤞

little inside info - the date box was never delivered to their rooms! since we shot the episode in one day we had to move past some details. and mad props to Sam Reich who was working non stop composing the game from video village then appearing on screen at the end of such a loooooong shoot.

also Zac’s art was my favorite so I had to snap a pic of it.

and lastly congrats to katie who absolutely deserved the billboard. she’s such a sweetheart and always makes me laugh when we work together :)

hi nico!!!! sorry if this is a little bit weird/personal but ive always been interested in working in props and art like you do, and i was wondering if you had any anecdotes or advice as to how to get started on it professionally/as a job :) love the stuff you do AND LOVE YOUR MUSIC TOO!!!!

aww hi! thank you for listening to the music and for reaching out. i’m always so happy to answer any questions people have about what I do. I actually got my start as a PA for dropout (then college humor) something like 5 years ago. There I met Chloe Badner, the production designer for game changer. she took me under her wing about 4 years ago and my life has literally not been the same since! I love what I do. Even the hard days are something to be proud of or are at least a fun story.

soooo with that said, a good way in could be like my story - start out as PA and meet some designers or prop masters who can mentor you. Another way is just to start by reaching out to production designers or prop masters you like. see who designs some of your favorite small scale shows, music videos, or short films and tell them you love their work and that you’d love to work with them as an art PA. show them your art and any work you’ve done in the past. it never hurts to ask :)

another small piece of advice is to never stop making art! even when nobody is paying you to do it. make that thing that’s been sitting in the back of your head for years, draw that face that reminds you of a friend, make a song just to get the words out. art is foreverrrr
