Summary:

A brief wry smirk flashes across his face, and as Cody meets his own eyes in the reflection of his drink, it softens. If he had to rationalise it, this anxiety most likely stems from the recent developments with the general.

Something's been off about him ever since he came back from the mission to Kadavo.

Okay, I lied. I spent all day writing another fic so I could nab a double bingo for @codywansleepbingo and by god lads, we did it and I am now going to bed LOL

This is for all of the ‘sleep position’ prompts on my card: log, on back, face to face, starfishing and spooning. (I used my one swap and swapped starfishing and sleep mask to get the bingo!)

I wrote this literally today and I’m completely smitten with it. I’m a pantser at heart, what can I say? Thank you again lovely sleep bingo mods 🧡

The bed is a big slab of white cotton in the middle of the room. It is big enough that Cody can lie across on top of it, his feet barely brushing the edge, and it’s one of the most comfortable places he has had the chance to sleep in. He also hates it. It’s too big, too cold, too empty, too unprotected. The wide expanse of sheets and blankets make him feel alone, lonelier than he already feels. He did not choose it: it came with the room, and the room was one of the Senates many little backhanded gifts, like the clothes they kept throwing at him at first, like the first few drafts of the Clone Sentient Rights legislation. A poisoned gift, a gift that isn’t one—one of the first attempts on the new chancellor’s part at guessing Cody’s price.
