Ep 9 and 10 is a woman's story, and you have two characters that represent it.

The world is cruel and full of pain. Women have survived it, which we have been killed for, and women have stood up against it, which we have been killed for. How women react to the world and how the world reacts to women, is how women's stories come about. ES is aware of how cruel and awful this world can be, and creates this paradise, this idea where pain and suffering doesn't exist. While HB on the other hand, understands that you would not know happiness if you did not know pain. But she also knows that cruelty and pain is not all this world has to offer. This is woman coded. One of the reasons why the world is safer for women now, is because we never forgot what the world could be. And then we proceeded to fight for what the world could become. What's shown in episode 10 and 9 is basically this in a nutshell.

ES paradise free of hate, pain, and suffering is miserable. Her perfect paradise was wrong. When she's faced with that fact in ep 10, she's (understandably) upset and doesn't know what to. Saying that her completely reasonable crash out is just her being a "yandere", completely undermines her character and how her character reacts to the world. Saying that her character reacted like that because she's a yandere, it's the same thing as saying "she's not acting like that because she's human, she's acting like that because she's a woman."

They didn't "ruin" her character, they simply told a very human story. Which is what a woman's story is.
