nothing breaks my heart more than the way that even allo people who understand what aromanticism is view aromantic ideas as inherently having no value outside of the aromantic community. I’ve seen/heard allo people say things that clearly show that they view all aromantic insights/philosophies as only being useful to aromantic people. they respond to important and well thought out ideas with a statement about their own alloromanticism, as if to say “that’s great and all, but I’m allo, so it doesn’t have anything to do with me.” there is such much wisdom to be found in aromantic perspectives, and alloros at large are only ever half listening.

What I do :

So hello !! I'm Coggle, or Boggle, or Bee, but most just call me Cog :33 I use both she/her and he/him pronouns, I don't really have a preference, it doesn't matter to me too much.

I'm a fic writer !! My main fandoms are Portal/Portal 2 & Cult of the Lamb (I also really like Bee & Puppycat) You'll mostly see me writing for Portal 2 here

I make a lot of au stories, I have three main ones right now, Aperture Coffee, Caroline Caroline, and my Atlas and P-body human au.

There's a few minor ones that I'm also working on, but those are not as much my focus rn. I'll update this post accordingly with it all.

I post on ao3 under the name Boggle_Bee

I'm also an amateur video editor, but that remains on another platform. My tumblr is strictly personal & for occasional fic writing related rambles.

I prefer to keep to myself on the internet and try avoid spending too much time here. So I am very unlikely to respond to any messages or comments, but I appreciate them all <3

I know this is for the sillies but I'm actually insane about this.

No matter how much she wants to get rid of that final voice in her head, she just can't. Caroline and GLaDOS literally stuck together forever.

I've thought a lot about whether or not GLaDOS actually deleted Carline based on my own perception of the characters, I really think it could go either way. I believe that when you're going to that final fight in the end, and she has her whole speech about, "For the first time it's my voice," and she's acting so different, partially yes, that could be the influence from the chamber.

But my hc is that Caroline has been sort of reawakened in GLaDOS' mind, when she was more dormant before, drowned out by all the other voices(cores). So the reason she's so different now is because Caroline has been brough peace, seeing that her revenge on the scientist has been fully carried out. Now it's just GLaDOS taking her revenge on Wheatley.

So really, she could've deleted Caroline because that's what Caroline might've wanted. She's been brought peace, so she can be let go.

But GLaDOS could've kept her there, lying to Chell to preserve her own pride. Maybe she kept Caroline just for company, or, maybe she just literally couldn't delete her without breaking her system.

GLaDOS' entire personality was built off Caroline after all.

Maybe, at this point, Caroline is just GLaDOS’s coconut jpg that can’t be deleted without breaking her system

Right before uploading the 2nd chapter I got a call from a different company calling me in for an interview. Why is writing about Chell Portal 2 getting fired bringing me so much luck

Second chapter of Aperture Coffee is up ! :3 Yay

It's a bit shorter, I decided to split it up into two separate chapters so it wouldn't be too long. Rest assured, Chell gets her job later.

Something something the visceral horror GLaDOS must feel after watching Chell for so long, only for her test subject to literally go off the rails and disappear inside of her.

It's such a fantastic reversal of power! In an instant, it changes the genre from Chell's psychological nightmare into Glados's body horror.

This whole time Glados has been creating a psychosexual connection to her lab rat, and now that rat worms its way through her body in a way she can't track.

There's almost an intimacy about the rooms Chell solves being specifically tailored for her to see. They're a dishonest facade, until Chell escapes from the predetermined path and sees what Glados truly is/looks like, and ventures all the way to the heart of her, stripping her bare.

"What if you were a massive mechanical complex and I skittered through your insides and climbed into the heart of your most private and vital organs? And we were both women?"

I just spent an hour diving further into Caroline and GLaDOS and I think I fucking hit "delete" instead of post.

Caroline Characterization

Some things for my Portal 2 Caroline, Caroline AU because I'm properly writing it right now :3 spoilers for portal 2 !! (forgive me this is mostly just a very long ramble about Caroline)

The first chapter is entirely from Caroline's perspective. From what we can tell with the voice lines and context within the game, Caroline is a generally kind, smart and well educated woman.

This is further supported in the Portal 2 Collectors Edition Guide (I sound like a nerd right now but bear with me, this is all important)

Page 323, "As Chell and GLaDOS press on, more and more of Caroline comes forward, making GLaDOS more human and caring like Caroline was." and Page 325, "Caroline cares, GLaDOS does not." However, in her last voice line that's included in the game, she's got a much different tone than before. Maybe I'm reaching here, but I assume she's grown tired, maybe even cynical. You don't work in a place like Aperture, especially not so closely with the CEO himself, and not remain a morally good person.

If we look back at the Portal 2 Guide, the timeline we can see at the bottom of Page 315, the specific wording is, "To implement the Genetic component, the essence of Caroline, Cave Johnson's trusted assistant, is infused into the existing OS to provide the basis for GLaDOS' thought processes."

I believe that this also means that GLaDOS' personality is based of Caroline's own, we see how she presents herself publicly, but what about privately? (Though to be fair, you could also make the point that Caroline's anger at being uploaded into GLaDOS also heavily impacted the base of GLaDOS' behavior. Especially since she only activated for the first time AFTER having Caroline infused/uploaded to her OS.)

I'm mostly rambling here, but my point is, I think Caroline to her core is a caring person. However, her time working in Aperture, being a scientist, as well as being a working woman around the 1950's, have all affected who she is now (or rather, 30-40 years later in the 1980-90's)

Caroline is cynical, she's tired of this. By the time Cave Johnson is dead, she knows her fate is sealed. My personal hc is that she keeping going to Aperture, keeps working and acting as CEO, because of her own stubborn pride. She knows she can't stop the GLaDOS project. The project was started 10 years before she was forced into GLaDOS.

She doesn't want this. That much is made clear in her scrapped voice lines, and can be inferred in the game (her interruption when Cave said he wanted Caroline to run the place if he died before they could upload him instead. Also during the core transfer when Wheatley asks if it will hurt, she says, "Oh it will, believe me, it will." as well as her general reaction during the core transfer. Her shouts of protest are horrifying with the context of Caroline.)

But what I was getting at fr !!! The first chapter is Caroline walking into the GLaDOS Chamber the night before she's supposed to be uploaded. She's resigned to her fate, but she is still angry. She is cynical, and believes this will all backfire on the scientists. The entire scene is morbid, it's like a funeral. She is mourning herself.

The entire AU is based off the song Evelyn Evelyn, so the rest of the fic has both Caroline and GLaDOS' perspectives. But the first chapter is more inspired by As the World Caves In. It's Caroline's first conversation with GLaDOS (even if one sided).

Head canon/theory that Caroline is like another core for GLaDOS, except she's internal and not a physical attachment obviously. GLaDOS is her own consciousness, her own person, she has her own thoughts. Then theres Caroline who got uploaded into her body and lives in her brain.

Now think them like that, with the song Evelyn Evelyn (I've been brainrotting this for days)

I could ramble so so much about them with this song but I don't know how to format it in an acceptable post way. (But like, GAH imagine the last part of the song with them. GLaDOS telling Caroline "A parasite needs a host" )
