The so-called “tampon tax” has got to go. That’s the message of lawmakers in both chambers of the state Legislature.

Democrats and a couple Republicans are teaming up to get rid of Michigan’s use tax and sales tax on feminine hygiene products.

Michigan exempts food, medication and other necessities from taxes, and lawmakers argue feminine hygiene products are just as essential.

Bill sponsor, Rep. Winnie Brinks, D-Grand Rapids, says, “It’s not optional. It’s certainly not a luxury item and you need it for 40 years, so it’s really unlike most other items that are taxed.”

I was on the UM documentation team for AVSR. Now, I have a silent video of the whole show because my co-workers camera somehow ended up not picking up any sound. I’ve never watched that video all the way through, but I have it. I also haven’t seen the final product, but my roommate (who I didn’t know until after the show) told me my name is in the credits. So, last night I acted like a 12 year old fan girl at the @swmrsswmrs concert in Chicago. I'm only slightly embarrassed but regret nothing. They killed it! I cannot believe these boys, they've been amazing since day one but they are definitely on their way to the top of the world! @kushswagdaddy is one of the sweetest humans I've ever interacted with, and I hope our paths will cross again someday!
