But!! Been working on something for hangster that I think y’all might like, and the plotting has taken so much of my time (like….God - about a week or two on its own.)

Going feral at this whole idea of an exchange:

Art gives his ring back to Tashi after the Challenger, completely prepared to leave. She’s flabbergasted, clearly confused, and all he does is ask how many times she’s slept with Patrick.

“Twice,” would be her answer.

And he doesn’t say anything other than - “He’s mine,” because Patrick had always been his, and he’d been Patrick’s. That had changed with Tashi, homewrecker intentions or not, regardless of whether or not she ever returned the sentiment.

“I’m yours.” She’d say, like she’d heard it every day for the past five years at minimum, like she couldn’t ever comprehend that he’d ever think differently.

Like he damn well couldn’t have loved them both.

“Were you ever?”

ANYWAY I’m definitely not still having feelings about this movie, why do you ask?

Going absolutely crazy waiting for @indybob’s new fic to drop!! You’ve been so excited about it that I cannot wait to see what you’ve been working on!

Exciting news!! One week from today, (on Wednesday, May 22) I’m planning to finally start posting Maybe We Were Always Meant To Be.

I’ve spent countless hours and have quite literally put my blood, sweat, and tears into this story— I’m so excited to finally be sharing it! There will be fourteen chapters, and one will be posted each week on ao3 until the story is complete. I still have some work to do on the last two chapters, but I’m confident they will be finished by the time they’re due to be posted.

This story is my baby, and my love letter to the hangster fandom, so I hope you all will enjoy reading it as much as I have enjoyed writing it!

Also, I want to give a huge thank you to @redfurrycat for her help in beta reading several chapters of this story, I couldn’t have done it without you, Red!🩵

It’s like this: Jake is overly sensitive to people caring about him because fandom agrees his parents/friends/someone in his life sucks (whether or not he wants people to like him, he’s obsessed with making people like him, and if he can’t do that, he’s going to annoy them.) If he can annoy someone to the point of expecting them not to like him, he’s prepared for them to hate him and he’s no longer surprised when they do. But he pushes back regardless, as if he can prove that this time, it means something if they don’t leave, and Bradley’s always there regardless of how often he pushes Bradshaw’s buttons

Bradley hates insincerity with every cell of his body, and Jake’s flippant assholish attitude registers as being insincere on some level - he hates it. Honesty is something he values above all else (see: Mav pulling his papers and never being honest about why, his mom probably being dodgy about his attempts to join the navy, etc.) He responds to Jake’s attempts to goad him with a level of aggression almost subconsciously because he wants (needs) jake to be honest with him, unaware that his visceral and emotional reaction is the one that Jake was aiming for in the first place

(Neither of them ever uses their goddamn words to explain the reason behind any of these actions, of course)

OR, to put it simply, their miscommunication and inability to be honest with each other would stunt their relationship before it really starts (in this case, they’d been orbiting each other for long enough that there’s a pull there, but they couldn’t ever get past their differences in defense mechanisms to ever reach something serious)

I’m just curious, but what is everyone’s personal head canon to why Hangster broke up? I think it’s universally agreed upon that Bradley and Jake were dating/a thing, but there’s a thousand and one different reasons why and whose fault it was.

Personally I can’t really decide on a concrete reason. General ideas why, but no specific reason. Like I think they were in Top Gun together, but that’s not where they became their thing. At Top Gun is where they met, where they started their rivalry, but in a friendly kinda way. I don’t think they were at each other’s throats but I think they were similar to, if not more friendly than Maverick and Ice. After Top Gun I think is where they became their thing. In TGM bar scene, Phoenix says “well he hasn’t changed a bit” to me means they were around each other for more than just a couple weeks in Top Gun. I think they were stationed somewhere together, and that’s where their friends with benefits started.

But other than that, I can decide where it goes from there, or what the tipping point was. I definitely think it was a group effort in their demise, but how and why I just can’t decide on

as someone who watched the show first, I really liked kipps. I did not realize, however, that he was aged down and the others were aged up. So when I started reading the series, and realized kipps was in his twenties, that was just so funny to me cuz like dude, why are you beefing with a bunch of fifteen year olds

Gearing up to write the cheesiest, most rom-com fic I’ve ever written for hangster (and that’s saying a lot) SO - hit me with your favorite rom-com tropes.

I’ve already planned such fun things as “sharing a bed” and “misunderstandings galore” but in the spirit of making it as lovey and sweet as possible, y’all got any suggestions? 👀

Obviously we’re all in agreement that Stayed Gone is unilaterally one of the best songs in the season, but the entirety of the piece just drives me insane for characterization, like -

Vox is so fucking terrified at the thought of Alastor returning after whatever the hell set them off in the first place that he’s attacking Alastor’s character with everything he has to keep his empire going.

And Alastor…doesn’t give any less of a shit. He’s completely and fully aware of how desperate and scared Vox is, and takes the insults as a tease, not even a challenge (because of course he does, it’s all a game to him, and Vox is nothing he can’t handle) and appreciates the visible, immense embarrassment and pain that he’s stringing Vox through.

One whole two minute back and forth did more to illustrate Alastor’s sadistic joy and inflappable attitude towards Vox (right alongside Vox’s utter contempt and obsessive desperation) than any long explanation could have done.

It’s so fucking satisfying.
