3rd day: soo, I said goodbye to helen this morning and left hikkaduwa. I took the bus to unawatuna and paid 40 lkr, around 0,25 euro. it was a 45 minutes ride! It's unbelievable how cheap the transport is! It's cheaper than buying a bottle of water! unawatuna was really charming and I felt a nice atmosphere. when I arrived at my guesthouse the owner told me that my room is not cleaned yet. so I left my stuff there and went to the beach, on my way I spotted a vegan restaurant and decided to try it in the evening. at the beach I drank a pineapple juice, went swimming and relaxed...the beach was really nice, a little touristic but still empty, beautiful sand& turquoise water...aaand big waves to jump in! :) 4th day: had a huge breakfast again while a monkey family was climbing and jumping over me in the palm trees. then i took the bus to galle, it's next to unawatuna. the busride was an experience for itself! I had to jump on and was kind of hanging on the bus while it was rolling...😁 in galle I saw some people play cricket, it's a really common sport here and you can see in on of the pictures that the cow also wanted to play! I've walked through the streets and spoke to some local people and everybody was talking about german football😁 or that they have been to germany for work or practical training. the people are just so nice here and help you with all your questions, show you the right way and just talk to you. they all bring positivity and a smile for you! 💕 afterwards i met niina from couchsurfing and we spent the day together. we took a tuktuk to unawatuna, jungle beach, it was really crowded today but only with local people. they were celebrating because today (4.2.)is a national holiday here. primarily celebrate sri lanka's independence from the british rule 1948. there was food and music everywhere. in one pic you can see some people try to make a pyramide...they were doing this for one hour or so! 😀 after spending some time there we wanted to walk back to unawatuna beach to go swimming there and our walk brought us to the most beautiful places...tiny ways through palms, climbing stones, walking up and down, met a lot of dogs, monkeys, lizards, cats...so beautiful! then we arrived and I stayed in the sea for one hour! Ps: oh and we saw a big lizard in galle who walked slowly over the street. 😋

2nd day: the morning started with a huge sri lankan breakfast at the guesthouse. (I will make a post about the local food here soon) afterwards we decided to check out hikkaduwa so we’ve walked through the streets for hours in the burning sun 😩 while walking along a street I saw a big monkey who was moving hand over hand along the power line and jumped into a palm! 😍 we’ve also been to a temple and drank tasty mango & pineapple juice and been to the beach again…stayed in the water for hours, watching the waves, diving into the waves, paddling and watching the sunset and then we ate a delicious kothu.

from the airport in colombo we took the bus to the railway station in colombo. it was a 90 minutes crazy drive, i think the traffic has no rules here.😀 we bought a train ticket to hikkaduwa for 160 lkr, around 1 euro for a 2h train ride. the train was full of people so we decided to hang out at the doors. you can easily sit there and enjoy the costal view. the doors are always open. now and then people walking through the train with food and other stuff you can buy. in hikkaduwa we walked to our guesthouse which was not far from the railway station. nice accommodation, garden, room with fan and own bathroom, 5 min walk to the beach. we decided to take a shower and go to the beach. I didn't expect anything big after the long trip to hikkaduwa and finally arriving in our guesthouse. BUT then we arrived at the beautiful beach and went swimming. I had my snorkeling stuff with me. first I saw some cute little colorful fishes and also big ones. BUT then....i saw a turtle right next to me.I kept some distance and after a while I lost the turtle. then I went back to the fishes and HOLY SHIT right next to me was a super big turtle(ca. 90cm) i was so happy because I never saw turtles in the sea/their home. after this lovely adventure I ran over the sand with a bright smile on my face to tell my turtle story! 😍

after being awake for over 24 hours I finally arrived in sri lanka. I met a girl in the plane and asked her if she wants to join me by going in the south of sri lanka. she had no plans so we began our trip together.
It was nice to have a person around for the first 2 days of the big travel… to share thoughts and moments, ask questions and not feeling “alone”. because in the plane I had a lot of thoughts about what I’m actually doing here and why i’m doing this and why alone etc…
I was a little scared of the unknown country and was questioning myself if I can do this or not.
but all these thoughts were gone when I arrived in sri lanka, when I pulled off my leggings and my pullover and just worn shorts and a shirt.♡ also the people were really welcoming and super helpful.
so let’s start….

yuno's wundertüte! it's a surprise bag a good friend gave me for my trip to sri lanka. but i can't open it now, it says i have to wait until i'm in the plane. :-O ......4 days left and i'm starting to get nervous and think of all the stuff i have to do until then.
it's my first solo travel and in the beginning the thought of being alone in a country i don't know felt really scary. some moments later i remembered a few blogs i read about travelling alone and leaving your comfort zone. i feel that this is exactly what i need right now...to overcome fears & to climb my dream of traveling and surfing.
this was my first post and i hope i can continue writing and posting pictures while i'm in sri lanka.
