I believe in the HC that hes in the middle because Dr Julien wanted to make sure all measures of people finding out hes a robot were like nearly impossible (so people didnt view him differently or something probably)

Chapter 10. All the ninjas meet in the final battle against the great red dragon (I don't know its name), but Cole isn't with them. He chose to go to the Land of Lost Things, be with Geo, and protect his three children until things get better. We can clearly see how Cole has prioritized the seekers, being there for them and helping them until things get better. Thank you, Ninjago, for keeping the traditional homoparental family together 😭💖 (sorry for the poor quality of the photos).

Another additional piece of information confirmed, although not directly mentioned, is that Fritz is indeed a shapeshifter. Apparently, during this time off-screen, he learned to transform into a crow. I really love the detail that they didn't forget Geo, Bonzle, Fritz, and Spritz, giving them at least a couple of scenes together.

So Cole was saying this after Lou caught him going over the plan to steal the Blade Cup with the other ninja.

And later, Lou says to Cole in reference to how stealing is wrong, "I'm not going to wait around to watch you make a mockery of our of our family's legacy."

And I know that at the time the episode was written, Lilly most definitely wasn't conceptualized, meaning that her being the previous Earth ninja couldn't as well.

But watching this after Season 13, you can interpret Lou's reaction to Cole being a ninja and stealing, as not only a mockery to his legacy being a dancer, but also Lilly's legacy as being a ninja.
