did you know that, transcending species, the body’s first instinct when frightened in the dark is to attack with desperate ferocity, praying that one hit might just land?

did you know that revali drowned out his own SOS signal with a warbled rito lullaby, because a rito like revali can’t see well at night?

started a new botw save today. completely unrelated hello i’m back again

i haven’t been playing lately and i have nothing to post but late happy totk release anniversary

the hero of time is truly the most pitiable of all the links.

not only does he spend "ocarina of time" growing up as an orphaned outcast, watching the closest thing he has to a guardian die, and then get blamed for it, but then he has to go through all the events of that game, including briefly experiencing sudden adulthood with no opportunity to mature, before being catapulted back like none of it ever happened and losing those connections to people he met in the future.

then it happens to him Again directly after in "majora's mask", where he becomes involved in multiple traumatic, sometimes inevitable stories, watching people suffer over and over again because the core game mechanic is about resetting time which no one else is aware of except link, who is 10.

people around the kingdom would have seen link stood atop the light dragon, squinting past the sun to try and make out his actions. word spread of the supposed hero of hyrule wasting precious time dawdling with untameable beasts in the sky, rather than saving them all from their twisted fate as he was destined for.

link had no words to spit out in retaliation. no way to tell them that the beast they speak of asks for her syrup to be poured in between every layer of her morning stack of pancakes, and ties her own boot laces the way she was taught as a child with clumsy fingers. he has no way to explain that these intricacies only he knows of justify his time spent in the sky, because this beast that soars the kingdom with braids tangled in its mane is nothing but a girl in his eyes.

I’m glad more people are respecting botw/totk Link as an actual character with some level of depth, but, I think too many of you are forgetting the kinda person he was after losing his memories.

He’s playful, and especially good with kids.

He is HORRIBLE at flirting, or probably only does it as a joke and isn’t serious about it. Might even say things that are inappropriate sometimes.

just a general smartass.

He’s bashful. He breaks the stoic demeanor when told he looks cute in his new outfit or is asked if he has a crush on someone lol.

Other things Link has done that I couldn’t find images of but do actually happen:

- Scamming a creep into giving him his shoes.

- (botw) Trying to actually for real use the “but I’m over 100” excuse at a bar when he was 17, and completely failing at it.

- Drank what is essentially hyrule’s equivalent to sunscreen.

- Actually enjoys eating rocks

When people try to analyze Link’s character, I notice that they try to brush off depictions if his character that are more “silly goofy guy” as ooc, when those interpretations are still actually based in canon evidence.

Even Creating a Champion describes him as “more lively” after waking up. Mipha’s journal mentions he was more happy and extroverted as a young child, implying that he likely became that way due to trauma, but still probably has those playful tendencies.
