hi my name is Karen Spencer and I run our DC Metro office located here in McLean Virginia before coming to college coach almost a decade ago I worked as the assistant director of admission at Franklin and Marshall College as well as the assistant director of admission at Georgetown University here in DC where I read up to 1500 applications every year I was also the transfer coordinator and I was the athletic liaison to coaches so I have a breadth of experience in both of those colleges I graduated from Valparaiso University in Indiana with an undergraduate degree in psychology and then went to get my master's degree in counseling from the University of Virginia I decided to join college coach frankly because I got really tired of denying 80% of the applicant pool at Georgetown every spring that was I'm a little depressing and frankly not why I went into admissions to begin with I really wanted it to help kids get through this process as I always say if your college list is in order this whole process is going to be fine and if your college list is a mess this whole process is going to be a mess so the goal is to really get that list in a solid place so we can move forward from there I really in looking forward to helping families streamline this process really understanding the ins and the outs of details that can sometimes get lost if you don't understand the process fully debunking some myths of which there are many about this process and really helping your family find that list of schools for your son or daughter that is really going to allow them to believe that college is the four best years of their life
