I FUCKING LOVE THIS FICTIONAL DISEASE AND ONE OF MY FAVORITE FICS ATM IS USING THIS AND UGH I love it sm

Hanahaki Disease is a fictional disease in which the victim coughs up flower petals when they suffer from one-sided love, the petals come from the flower blooming in the victim's lungs due to that unrequited love.

There are variations to the disease, but in general there are three "solutions"

1. The love is requited!

2. The flowers are surgically removed. This, however, does make it impossible for the victim to have those romantic feelings again (at least for the person they were in love with).

3. Allowing the flowers to keep blooming and result in death. Some iterations don't make it so the disease can lead to death, but most do.

There's certainly variations sometimes, but the premise is generally the same no matter what. With one character coughing up petals and having to choose at some point how to deal with it.

Can I just say I HATE canon vs fanon posts?

Like yeah, sometimes people do need a bit of a reminder of what is canon and what isn't, but a lot of the time it feels kind of targeted towards people who 'like-like' the character or ship them with another character.

Yes, I know Vox is a heartless bastard, that doesn't mean he's also my precious cinnamon roll that I will protect from the world.

Yes, I know Alastor is a murderous silly deer man probably not interested in romance, that doesn't mean I can't imagine him buying Vox some flowers that he deserves damnit.
