Now that social networking is such a huge part of our lives (and thus culture), shouldn’t we ensure that we are spelling correctly?
It is interesting, because spoken word is not as analyzed, in regards to how the speaker may spell the word they are speaking. But when we post things actually on our social networks, it shows more in regards to how we spell things.

How perfect is this in regards to how our society has become?
I mean, it does make sense. That is, the actual wording itself. However, I think of this a bit further as to how we’ve become so expectant of text, we must precept our calls with a text.

How true is this.
Take one look at any major post on Facebook and read the comments. It’s awful.

My husband and I struggle with the impulse to make our kids grow up how we did (always outside), but we didn’t have technology like they do these days. We want to keep them social, but sometimes social does mean playing on their kindles, as they are connected to their friends elsewhere.

BUT....
Are these networks ruining lives, or enhancing them?

7 Reasons Social Networking Is Good For Our Society
Are you really so surprised, though? Think of what paradigm you are viewing social networking.
Can it all really be so bad?

Welcome to my curation!
It actually does not matter whether you read from the top down or the bottom up. I did include a few memes to break up the monotony though. I picked these memes in particular because I feel that they do say something about this topic- in that social media has become such a big part of our culture, memes can speak what is unspoken.
I hope you enjoy this collection, as I enjoyed collecting!

Social Media Makes Millennials Less Social
But is “social” to a millennial a different expectation?
Every generation does things different from the one prior, right? Thus I see where this is coming from, but I also think they could say the same for us (the rest of society, older than millennials).

The Negative Effects of Social Media
Of course, no curation would be complete without showing both sides.
But in my own thoughts, too much of anything can be a bad thing, right? Well, that’s the same with social media, too.

Finding FRIENDS Through Bumble.
Finding friends through an app?
It’s not as awkward it sounds! Why should it be? In this age, we are “using” social networks and apps to find romantic matches- why not just friends in general?

5 Differences Between Social Media and Social Networking
Here, to me, is part of the problem: all social networks/media seem to be lumped in together. To really understand the benefits, and understand exactly how social they are, we need to take into account the differences.
No, all social networks/media were not made the same.
Differences between social media and social networking? You don’t say!

Social networks helps stressed and depressed cope.
If you really stop and think about it- how easy is this to actually understand? It seems we spend so much time (as a society) bemoaning how awful social networking is, as it “will make you stressed and depressed”- but what if you are already stressed and depressed?
“Enter Koko, an app that allows you to enlist a team of strangers to be your pseudo-therapists. It’s a social network built on the ideas of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and “reframing,” or rethinking your perspective.”

How ‘social’ is ‘social networking?
How interesting is this? For me, this topic is incredibly interesting.
I was very happy to see this post- it takes into account that those who are shy/lonely can use social networking as a leg up on life.
“Psychological scientists are very interested in this question. And they are especially intrigued by this new technology’s potential to help those who don’t connect easily with others — the shy, the lonely and those suffering from low self-esteem. ”

Social Networking In The Workplace
We can discuss this all day- perhaps for some workplaces it works well, and in others, not so well. This is one facet of this topic that I find pretty “cool” to think about. There are complaints about people frittering away company time on their social media accounts, but what if it’s required?

CURATION TOPIC: How social is social networking?
What an important question, if you think about it! For something that is so intertwined in our days, we really do not tend to think much about it. But the answer to this question should be thought about.
Essential sources are the writers who are willing to take this topic on.
I hope to contribute an easy-to-digest launch pad for those who are interested in finding out the answer, for themselves, on how social networking works in their life.
Curator Bio:
