wait wait wait can we talk about the scene where batman trudges through the flooded club holding a flare & guiding people to safety was a symbolic baptism for him? just prior to this moment he’d been plunged into the water and nearly drowned, but emerged realizing that he was not vengeance as he’d been so intent on calling himself. he was gotham’s protector. he was meant to bring gotham towards the light, not shroud them in more shadows. that night, batman, beacon of hope, was truly born both for the citizens and for bruce wayne himself.

Had the second ethics lecture today on
Science & Policy
Being able to go on campus is definitely a plus for this course - helps me focus. It's definitely a change of pace to have these less math-y, less involved lectures that are more like a discussion. The lecturer talked about science and the rules regulating it, and to what extent those rules should be decided by scientists themselves or society.

This Groningen housing situation has me a bit panicked, in all honesty. There are, of course, other options.
You can apply to 4 programmes in the Netherlands. I chose Groningen, TU Delft, Radboud and VU Amsterdam, and I've received answers from all except the last one, as well as Delft where I have to take extra tests.
Looking around, it does seem like flats everywhere are hard to come by, but that doesn't really help. In any case, I'll apply for housing as soon as possible and hope for the best?

The fun part about writing here is that I can already look back in bitter irony.
So, turns out housing actually is a problem already.
Groningen is apparently a horrible place to find accommodation in, and seeing everyone on reddit (I know, I know) complain about it not 3 months ago is not that comforting.
I was going to put university business in the back of my mind for a while, focus on school starting back up, but I guess it can't be helped.
On a lighter note, a good friend of mine has also been accepted and we're hoping to find a way to live together!

Here's the deal
Before I can worry about housing and moving and all that jazz, I have to pass the baccalaureate exam in july, which I'm taking in 3 subjects: lit, math and programming.
Math is my strong subject. It's easy, it's quick, I get it done in half the time if I pay attention.
Lit is the cramming one. A lot of people just learn the required essays a month or so before and do just fine.
Programming is, paradoxically, the one I'm most worried about. I've had an absolutely garbage teacher in high school and even though I've managed to catch up in private, I still struggle. I think the worst part is that the exam is taken on paper, and I'm used to slamming debug the second a code doesn't work.
I will try to chronicle (for lack of a better word) my studying, though none of my notes are in English, nor are most of them readable.
Like, comment and subscribe if you have chicken scratch writing.

So, I've been thinking about making a studyblr for a while now and the last few days have finally given me the motivation to get on with it.
My name's Noel, I'm currently in my last year of high school, and I've been (conditionally) accepted into the computer science programme at Groningen University.
I want to detail on this blog every step I'll have to take from now till the beginning of my first year and beyond, because I haven't seen a lot of studyblrs that deal with this, in all honesty.
