For real, everyone said "Stitch looks just like the original!" when the live action teaser dropped and...no? He doesn't?

Honestly one great thing about the original is that Stitch straddles the fine line between "adorable" and "hideous". And it takes a really weird, really eccentric little girl to look at a blue space gremlin with big nostrils and blank bulging alien eyes and a mouth full of nasty-looking teeth, and decide "He's perfect just the way he is!"

Making him conventionally cute and marketable-plushie-like kind of took away from Lilo's unconditional love and "appearances don't matter".

Aparently Disney's concept of realism is having Stitch getting breathing problems at the age of three

People tend to forget that the thing that made Toothless work so well was that his cuteness was gradual.

He's literally spoken of as the unholy offspring of lightning and death itself, no one knew what he even looked like, he was feared by all of the vikings for good reason.

And the vibe when we first see him is creepy. It's so eerie and unsettling at first. Gradually he shifts to a more "beautiful and majestic look" but still kind of intimidating. And it's not until Hiccup discards his knife that he goes full little kitty-cat mode.

Also live-action Toothless's eyes look sunken and he looks kind of unhealthy :(
