I have to say, I was not expecting my silly name polls for Nyo Austria, Nyo America, and Nyo England to get so much attention. 😆

-Typically sensory seeking. He tends to touch everything so he can feel the textures. He likes a little bit of noise and can be uncomfortable with silence. However, if he's not in control of the noises then sometimes they still bother or distract him.

-Stims. OFTEN. Humming, bouncing, clicking pens, shaking his leg, all sorts of things. Him flapping and waving his hands is just straight up canon.

-I think we all know he's been called childish before.

-He absolutely comes across as someone who info dumps. He just gets so excited and passionate about his interests!

-There are a lot of social cues he disregards because they're inconvenient to him, and I do headcanon him as bisexual and very likely demisexual as well.

-He has ADHD along with the autism. I could see him possibly having anxiety as well since I believe he overthinks a lot. Maybe also depression? Harder to say on that one. It seems plausible a lot of nations would develop it, but I feel I'd need to do more research.

-It is canon Alfred cries a lot, so the difficulty with emotional regulation could be possible.

-He absolutely has an exaggerated, loud way of expressing himself.

-Lacking spacial/body awareness seems to fit with how he doesn't appear to think about others' personal space.

-He often takes things at face value. A very literal guy who doesn't always understand sarcasm – or just isn't sure, so he chooses to react as if it's literal. This doesn't mean he's incapable of ever understanding it, though, and he can even be sarcastic himself.

-Very often feels misunderstood, since people make a ton of assumptions about him. He often feels like he's performing social interactions, having to make sure he does the right thing to come off a certain way.

-He does repeat phrases a lot, I think. Especially movie/TV quotes, if that counts.

-Given he's immortal, it's extremely likely he felt older than any of the human children he might have interacted with. Even with Canada, he seemed older for a while since he developed so differently. Once he became an adult, however, he became perceived as young since he refused to abandon things he enjoyed just because adults have a limited perception of fun.

-Has a strong sense of justice, fairness, is very loyal, and has a hard time lying. I would say all of these are pretty true. He can lie decently sometimes, but if he's not prepared for it, he's not always that convincing. Depends what it is, though.

-He's caring and has shown concern over other characters (e.g. England, Romano), but he doesn't always express it too well and sometimes even comes off as insensitive in the process.

-He forgets to eat properly. Yes, there are times when he eats a bunch, but he has also been shown living off protein bars because he was so busy working. Even Romano was concerned.

-He definitely scripts stuff in his head to prepare. Remember that time he was imagining what he would say when he arrived to the meeting early for once? Of course, that's only one small thing, but I do feel he's the type to script a lot of things out.

-VERY friendly, but yeah...he doesn't have many friends. It's even been stated in his bio that his only friends are England and Japan. Hopefully he's gained a few more since then!

Believe it or not, these are actual names I came across. I'm not a huge fan of them, myself, but I was curious which would be picked.

This poll wasn't meant to be that serious, guys. 😂 I phrased it like, "If you had to pick" for a reason.

I agree with a bunch of these! I love the idea of America inviting random people off the street to celebrate with him, that seems so wholesome and funny. I can just imagine him going around introducing some random human to everyone like:

"This is my buddy Jonathan, here to party!"

"Oh, how do you two know each other?"

"We met twenty minutes ago when he was walking past my driveway!"

I can also see him offering any package delivery guys a drink and a whole plate of food to take with them.

-discovers a new hobby every month -has 2 finished projects, has 200 works in progress -the house is organised by the ungodly Hope-I-Remember-Where-I-Put-That-Last system -invites random people off the city street to his birthday party -acts before thinking, always. There is no such thing as a plan. "I'm going to throw stuff at this obstacle to see what sticks!" -doesn't give anyone else a turn to speak, doesn't notice anyone else is trying to speak -in two days he built a functioning tank from wreckage scraps. It will take him six months to write an email to his boss.

Arthur: -has not changed his 2 hobbies in 200 years -minimal socialising ; ideal enjoyable company is wordless and involves tea time -there is a very specific way everything ought to be done. Tried to make it standard across the world so everything would have consistent borders and rules. "What do you mean they didn't work for you? They work perfectly for me." -lines from memorised poetry and speeches will show up remixed in his daily conversations. -"Did I say something rude? Ah...." do I backtrack or double down? Why was that rude? I hope they do not hate me more than usual now.

Yes! I already had an interest in history and culture before Hetalia, but Hetalia gives me even more reasons to be interested because I have characters that I can use as an outlet for the interest. I'll get inspired to research all sorts of things that I may not have even thought of without Hetalia. If people choose to educate themselves further because of this series, and/or if it brings them joy and they're not hurting anybody, that's a good thing. I've met so many fun people over the years because of this series.

I was just thinking about that, myself. Please, do not condemn Hetalia because you only watched the dub. The dub...was never canon. It's more of an abridged parody than a proper translation. And that's not to completely bash it, it did have some funny moments and I think it's okay to watch as long as you understand it's not canon and that some of the jokes were in poor taste.

Right, it might touch on a few serious topics, but it generally prefers to stay away from the dark stuff. I think the series mainly intends to focus on the trivia aspect of history and culture.

About the fandom:

The Hetalia fandom is not "one of the worst fandoms ever". People who never liked it or who left and want to seem superior act as if it's somehow unique in having problems. But really...it's not. Does it have problems? Oh, yeah. But so do other fandoms.

There are always going to be fans who can't behave, but that's hardly exclusive to us. I've heard a lot of horror stories about other fandoms, too. The best thing to do is just learn from it and move on, and try to be the best representative of your fandom that you can be.

About the manga/show:

It's not as cringe and underdeveloped as everyone claims. Does it have some boring/stupid moments here and there? Of course. But people should give it more credit. Himaruya is juggling SO many characters, and they're not regular characters, they're countries, which means he has to be extra careful about how he presents them. That takes a lot of time and research, so it's expected that not every single character will be super fleshed out.

But some people act like NONE of them are well developed, and that's just not true. A lot of fans pride themselves on NOT reading the source material because it's "trash" and then they miss all the good stuff, so it's a self-fulfilling prophecy. Of course a character is going to seem one-dimensional if you literally didn't bother to learn much about them. And then some fans will even take the character and claim they're fleshing them out by adding traits that were ALREADY CANON. And they just didn't realise!
