ok alicia kennedy always writes wonderful essays about food and culture, but this essay was particularly interesting! apparently she’s teaching a masters level university course about culinary tourism and is sharing all her lectures and reading lists on substack!! as someone who loves food, making it and eating it and sharing it, and as someone who is living abroad in a different culinary culture, this was super interesting. just wanted to share here in case that might interest anyone else!

Early morning start today but I’m enjoying it. Hopefully can get everything done I need to this week (and still have time to relax and read). I’m trying to finish two out of the three books in the picture but I need to actually sit down and read.

I’ve been in a bit of a slump lately so here are some good things that have happening in February so far:

Received The Raven Boys

Watched the sunset and rise

Lunch with friends in the sunlight

Watched Blue Planet

Spent a whole day cooking

Felt warm in the cold

Received birthday mail from one of my close friends

i've missed playing the violin. sure, going to my lessons and practicing every day is extra stress but it's worth losing myself in the music until my fingertips hurt. oh and once again, syntax trees!

🥐 My girlfriend and I were able to get out and go running for the first time in a long time. We picked up a muffin and a croissant at the local bakery, then ate them together at the park and watched the dogs play. Getting outside can be so good for my mentality, I love moments like these…

Happy New Years Eve!

There’s so much to look forward to in 2023. I hope to graduate college, start grad school (and first, get into grad school), and read a LOT. Reading and studying have been a source of joy in life and chronicling it online helps me look back on all the things I have learned.
