We believe renewable energy is the key to restoring a safe climate and leaving coal and gas in the ground. The future of our planet, and its people, is too important to leave in the hands of politicians and business leaders. That’s why we’re creating a people-powered movement to fast track Australia’s renewable energy revolution, and you have the power to help make it happen.corenafund.org.au Tweets by @CORENAfund

Half-funded in the first 2 weeks! Thanks to some generous EOFY donors (thank you!) and a few loan repayments that have come in over the last few days from earlier projects, we're already over halfway to reaching the $27,430 target for the 23kW Marlin Coast Neighbourhood Centre solar installation. :) If you fancy helping them reduce their carbon emissions, you can see details and chip in at https://corenafund.org.au/quick-win-projects/marlin-coast-neighbourhood-centre-qld/ OR, make a quick and easy donation via Chuffed.org at https://chuffed.org/project/corena-quick-win-revolving-fund Know a non-profit community organisation that would like to be our next Quick Win project? Did you know that we keep 100% from every $2 ticket we sell in the People's Choice Credit Union Community Lottery? Our goal is to raise $1,000 towards covering our admin costs so that we can continue to use 100% of the contributions towards our comunity solar projects for the projects themselves. Buy your tickets to go in the draw to WIN prizes valued at more than $360,000 and help us reach our goal: https://www.peopleschoicecu.com.au/community-lottery-home/organisations/corena---citizens-own-renewable-energy-network-australia-inc/ Only 10 weeks left! Ticket sales have already raised $330, but our goal is $1,000.

A unique aspect of CORENA’s model is that we focus on empowering climate-concerned people to chip in and make a difference by supporting community energy projects, regardless of whether or not those projects are within their local community (and we’re continually amazed by the support of the CORENA community!).
But if our Quick Win projects also inspire the local community to fund part of their project, it’ll further help to accelerate the project - reducing carbon emissions sooner, and injecting more money into the revolving fund for future projects.
So, for QWP 22 at Engadine Flexicare, we’re trying something new!
We’ve partnered with Sunny Shire to launch a crowd funding campaign, with a 20% locally fundraised target, in parallel with CORENA’s normal fund raising. And in 5 days they’ve already hit 50% of their target! That has given a huge boost to QWP 22, which is already over 50% funded.
You can check out the crowd funding campaign and chip in here: https://chuffed.org/project/engadine-flexicare-solar. Or you can read the project details and donate at https://corenafund.org.au/quick-win-projects/22-engadine-occ-nsw/
Please share and let’s see how it goes!

Our solar project for CERES Environment Park is now fully funded! Huge thank you to everyone who chipped in to enable this project to be funded so quickly. :) Now it is on to Quick Win project 22, this one for Engadine Occasional Child Care in NSW. https://corenafund.org.au/quick-win-projects/22-engadine-occ-nsw/ This is a small project. We need to raise just $5,817 for this one.

Almost there! Want to be part of helping to fund more solar for CERES Environment Park? CERES have been solar pioneers for years, but it's a busy place and they don't yet have enough to cover all their usage. This project will help CERES to get closer to their 100% renewable goal. See details, and chip in if you wish, at https://corenafund.org.au/quick-win-projects/21-ceres-environment-park-vic/

A good-good-bad-good news story! CERES Environment Park have been planning 3 new solar installations to add to their existing solar and wind generation, and we WERE going to be raising around $40k for one of the installations (the 20kW one on the chook house roof). But just the other day a very generous philanthropist offered to cover the cost of 2 of the installations (chook house + Merri), so we are now going to be funding the 3rd installation on the Human Powered Classroom instead. We now have a smaller funding target of $24,176, and we are getting close! This will pay for a 9.24kW solar installation and also cover the cost of some rather expensive network protection gear that is necessary to enable these new installations to take place. If you'd like to help us get this project over the line, please chip in at https://corenafund.org.au/quick-win-projects/21-ceres-environment-park-vic/

A quick and easy way to support CORENA's work - and you might just win a nice prize as well 🙂
Online sales of community lottery tickets now open, with a special Early Bird draw on offer for people who buy tickets online before April 30 (those tickets also go into the final draw later in the year).
Each year we participate in People's Choice community lottery scheme as a means of raising a bit of money to help cover our admin costs. That, plus CORENA membership fees, supply all our admin funds since 100% of donations to projects goes to the projects themselves.

Melbourne's CERES Environment Park is a real sustainability pioneer, but they've expanded their community operations so much over the years that their existing solar panels and small wind turbines no longer come close to covering their electricity needs. That is why CORENA is is very pleased to be fundraising to help CERES install a new top quality 20+kW solar installation. We will use newly donated funds and loan repayments from the 20 Quick Win projects we've completed already to give CERES an interest-free loan. They'll be able to pay that back easily out of their savings on power bills, and as the money comes back to us we use it over and over again in similar future solar projects for other non-profit community organisations. BUT this is a huge project, so please consider chipping in if you can. You'll be helping to fund a whole string of future projects, not just this one! See project details and the donate button at https://corenafund.org.au/quick-win-projects/21-ceres-environment-park-vic/ Please share widely. We think there must be lots of CERES supporters out there who will be happy to help CERES reduce their carbon footprint even further. :)

New wind and solar projects have been cheaper than new coal and gas-fired power stations for some time, but now even renewables PLUS storage is cheaper than either coal or gas.
Should make it a no-brainer to ban new climate-damaging projects that generate power from fossil fuels and give market certainty to rolling out more renewable energy.
Please sign the No More Bad Investments (NMBI) petitions seeking bans on new climate-damaging projects:

New project! This is CORENA's 20th Quick Win project - a 5.28kW solar installation for the Coast FM Community Radio Tasmania studio at Wynyard in Tasmania.
Project 19 for the community centre at Clunes, NSW, is now fully funded, and we already have $2,800 towards solar for the Coast FM studio, partly due to a large loan repayment into our revolving fund from one of our earlier projects (Tastex Knitwear and Uniforms) and partly due to a generous 'one panel' donation.
If you're looking for a climate-ethical gift to give this xmas, how about donating to this project on your friend's behalf? Just go to the link above and click the 'Chip in' button. It's a gift that will keep on giving over and over again as future loan repayments from this project will also help fund future community solar projects (just like the Tastex loan repayment is now helping to fund this new project).

Congratulations, and Thank You to everyone who chipped in to help fund solar PV for Mansfield Kindergarten. No way could the Kindy afford to do this themselves, but with everyone chipping in we did it. The panels will 'pay for themselves', then we can use the money again in future projects (the kindy will repay the interest-free loan out of savings on power bills, and when the loan is fully repaid they in effect have a 'free' solar installation).
